  1. Tell me about it, I'm back in Belgium, back at work, it's 5° and it's raining..., no commuting here this week. Cycled from the train station to home, only 5' and was soaked already But then again, yes, happy with the bike lanes here. Didn't feel very comfortable riding downtown CPT.
  2. so, that was my first Argus! It was way too short! I found out I'm not that bad at climbing. Startgroup 7C,passed a lot of people going uphill. Hospital bend was though with the wind, Edinburgh drive felt easier. Coming back was easy with he backwind. Hope to be back another year for a full ride! When will the results be on racetec website? I did around 2hours, pleased with that!
  3. How many climbing meters exactly? Does anyone know?
  4. Sandro, I like 1000X! We drove Ou Kaapse Weg totdat and it looks like a lunar landscape and was still smouldering. We were at Cape point and there was a big fire too. If i knew how to post pics with my tablet, i'd show you
  5. I'm here for a 3week holiday. Obviously, the CCTCT is a highlight and i really want it to go through. But I'm confident the organisation woud only cancel after serious contemplation and if there's no other option. There's no one to blaim for this
  6. touching stories....some one's chopping onions in here....
  7. this one is pretty awesome too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6FqvKVh4Ro
  8. I did that in 2013, fan-tas-tic ! see pictures above. I can post more if you like It's such a fun ride, not a great sports challence (68km flat) but the most amazing way to see the city, ride the highways Ask me in 2 weeks how it compares to the CTCT
  9. That is so cool, cycling in SA is a lot more adventurous then in plain grey Belgium
  10. my bike is in the repair shop, and it's beautiful weather outside.... I miss my baby!
  11. especially the last pic is wonderful. It's amazing to see animals interact with babies and children. They seem to be a lot more tolerant, like they understand children need to learn how to interact with them. PS. your kid is a cutie pie too!
  12. a lot of nature pictures, but I do like "urban cycling" a lot too... these are pics from the 5 Boro Bike Tour in New York, a fabulous experience and unique way to see the city. Look at those views!! If you ever have the chance of going to NY during the first week of May.... I love it when cyclists take over the road, hopefully this is what daily traffic looks like in the future :-) http://i61.tinypic.com/1qnb5t.jpg http://i60.tinypic.com/2e30rph.jpg
  13. Northern half, around Ghent, a long way from Namur
  14. cats are created to remind us what life's about: enjoying it to the max!
  15. another thing i learned today: when you wake up in your warm, cozy bed, don't start to analyse that you'll be riding your bike through the cold morning for an hour....
  16. lesson learned today: do not leave your towel in the shower room! Since I'm the only one using that shower, I thought it was ok to leave my towel there. arrived this morning to find out the towel was gone :-P the shower room is in the ladies toilet. There's a baby changing table in front of the shower door, so you have to move that before you can enter there. I know it's not one of my colleagues, the toilets are public so it was probably some stranger. It's just a stupid towel, but i'ts so annoying you can't even leave that. Luckily, my colleague and friend lives nearby, and could bring me a towel. Well, lesson learned!
  17. it sure is! predicted temperatures for wed-thu-fri are 9-10°, it' getting hot :-D lol
  18. yay, I was getting jealous of seeing all these pictures with gorgeous weather. Glad to see someone riding in even colder weather
  19. completely innocent lol :-)
  20. gorgeous eyes! One of my cats is a stray cat, started coming to our house when we moved in 9 years ago. It took me months before she would let me near to touch her. After 2 years (!) she started wandering into the house when we left the back door open, but hurried out again as soon as we came near. Next phase: sneaking onto the couch, but again, only when we were not near. And now, this is the first winter after 9 years!!, she cuddles up next to me, with her paws on my arm, and when she wants attention, she stretches out her paw to my face, she's so cute! http://i61.tinypic.com/110xah2.jpg
  21. what a beauty she is and kudos to you for giving her a warm home those picture from last year are heartbreaking
  22. i try to commute once per week, weather permitting, 22km single way. Temperatures are now around 0° brrrrr, I 've learned 5° is the minimum to make it comfortable. Between 0 -5° is doable, but one hour max. Next week, weather predicitions are windchill temperatures of -8°!! No way I'm riding my bike lol. when not, commuting by bike, I have an easy 15' train ride (train card paid for by employer too)
  23. I came into work by bike again this morning, and what a beautiful morning it was only 2km before arrival, I jumped of a sidewalk too hard and got a flat tire. Luckily, I was only a short walk from the trainstation where there is a bike repair shop from the city council and they helped me immediatly, so I was at work only half an hour later then expected. (that repair shop is great BTW, it's at the train station so you can leave your bike there, catch the train, and your bike is ready by the time you return, usually same day, some times a day later. You can also choose to rent a replacement bike for only a few €. And they employ people with few chances in regular employment. There's also a pump outside, free to use by anyone. And for minor repairs, they often don't even charge you) http://i62.tinypic.com/149np5x.jpg
  24. damn guys, you live in a gorgeous country! And look at that summer sunshine! can't wait to be there! #5weekstogo
