  1. Pics?!?!
  2. Photography! It's a camera... So no making movies or taking pictures of the guy getting a BJ .
  3. Hehe...there is another sign up saying photography by prior appointment only. What is going to happen to the Emmarentia selfie?!??
  4. Spez got clever with their swat system. Tool clips into the frame, chain breaker and link in the headpost. I don't have the plastic box under the water bottle, but the plugs and tire levers are light and unobtrusive enough to go in my back pocket. For the longer stage races, I think i will strap a tube under my seat. Oh yes, 2 bombs and inflator are neatly attached to my seatpost by a holder clamp. Neat and works a charm. No clink clonk, no extra weight, weight distributed nicely across bike, and it's all out of the way.
  5. It's a good indicator of what not to do
  6. Nice of them to chuck the hub in... for 24k. On another note. The 2015 s-work epic colours and decals are identical to my 2014 Elite. Only difference is that mine says Specialized and the other says s-works. That worked out nicely.
  7. So what's supposed to be so special about the upside down fork??
  8. I do love Spez products, but with an Epic and s-works helmet I am worried that s-works shoes on top of that will just lead to me being abused.
  9. Also looking at new slippers, deciding between fizik m1 http://www.extrauk.co.uk/product/detail/Fizik/MTB_Shoes/2599/ Or the Specialized: http://m.specialized.com/za/en/ftr/shoes/mtb-shoes/sworks-xc Help me out people.
  10. Nightmare plumber cracks...
  11. Seems that only thunder burt and racing Ralphs are around. Rocket Rons clearing out and yet to see HD at the LBS.
  12. So relieved this thread wasn't about the other 'crack'
  13. Would it be possible to retrofit the dropper seat? Same frame, can't see why not?
  14. I was quite happy with the value of the Elite. Only real difference is carbon wheels on the marathon (and possibly alu rear stays). Otherwise it has both brains and XO groupset. At about 55k it is manageable. But if money was no option, I would have gone s-works.
  15. Wow, so it's not personal for you then I guess. Or are you just trolling? I used a car example, you threw your panties in the air about people using car examples. I responded that people should leave this thread to those that want to read about the bike. You tell me to get manners because you don't like my statement. Don't be such a hypocrite cowboy. You know a lot about bikes, you seem to know very little about healthy debate. I'm going to go ride my a Epic on the spruit now. You can continue with your childish behaviour and superior attitude on a MTB thread.
  16. "Pot calling the kettle black" Yes it is personal. It got personal when you told me to get some manners and debate like an adult. Until that stage, it was healthy debate. You still miss my point about brand loyalty. I drive a defender, a friend drives a land cruiser. Similarly capable cars, but it comes down to the brand and personal preference. So whether you like the comparison about car brands (as opposed to the cars themselves) or not, it served the purpose of my illustration. If you prefer I can use the example of tennis rackets, or brands of tv's. Apple v Microsoft... whatever - same point. My posts were directed at anyone who felt it necessary to come to the s-works thread and complain about the brand rather than discuss the new bike. By the way, in financial terms there is absolutely no return on investment on any bike. If you mean the joy that a person derives from a particular bike, then the "return on investment" is particular to each persons circumstances and the value they see in a bike. I am happy to let this go if you are. I may not always agree with your opinion, but I do value that it is an informed one.
  17. Is that you pot? I thought your attack on the whole car example was a little over the top and condescending. Read the previous posts. There was a debate about Spez v Santa Cruz. Some more comments about how expensive the s-works is, with a premium being charged for the brand. My comment was simply this: when looking at certain categories of cars (dare I say it) some people don't mind paying a little extra for the brand, and people are often brand loyal. That is not to say that any one brand is that much better than another. I personally think bikes are similar. Some differences here and there, but some people are willing to pay a little more for the brand. If they want to, so be it. This is a thread about the new s-works, which is what I wanted to read about. If I want to read about the new Santa Cruz or Giant, then I will go take a look at that thread instead. So take it easy. You very obviously know much more about bikes than I do, but that is no reason to be so aggressive. For those of us that want to read about the new s-works and appreciate it for what it is (or isn't) I just wish that the spez-haters would let it go. For clarity, this statement is not directed at you Wyatt, but whoever feels it is necessary to bash the new s-works on this thread.
  18. Perhaps if you look past the example I used, you will see that we are making the same point. In any event, no one is forcing you to buy an s-works. For those that want to and can afford it, why should you care.
  19. The car industry has battled with this for decades: merc v BMW v Audi, LR v Toyota, Bentley v RR, Ferrari v Lamborghini. Honestly, who cares?! I happen to have an epic and love it. That won't stop me from reading up on the Vipa thread and appreciate that the Vipa is also a great bike. Or the scalpel. Let's all just grow up and appreciate that different people like different bikes. If we all like the same thing, life would be terribly boring. It's not about spez marketing, or podium finishes. If you buy into that then you are as guilty as the next guy. Get on your two wheels and ride into the sunset...
  20. Find a 2nd hand 29er FS. LBS stock 26 components less and less these days. In the next 3 years or so you are going to battle to get simple things like the 26er tire you want.
  21. Why do that??? I'm trying to convince myself that my 2014 epic is just great and I'm not missing anything with the 2015 epic (which apparently doesn't have great colour combos by the way)!!
  22. me and a couple of others are also very keen...
  23. I saw one on a bike at Linden Cycles. Smallish square nobs down the middle (3 rows I think) with mid-sized nobs on the sides. Not as aggressive looking as the name suggests.
