  1. We want blow by blow photos of the arrest...
  2. American Classic Wide Lightning... with Rocket Ron up front and Racing Ralph behind.
  3. "WTF" wolverines are great. Trying out rocket Ron front and racing Ralph back. If any concerns I'm going back to wolverines.
  4. Get wide rims, makes my 2.25's look like tractor tires, but at a lower weight obviously.
  5. See the back brain is at least still there. As for the new fork, surely the maintenance on that is going to be a nightmare. Aside from being closer to contact with rocks etc, can you imagine the amount of dirt that will be exposed to. Happy with my 2014 Epic thanks.
  6. I actually had to do the thru-axle conversion last night on a new American Classic Wide Lightning wheelset for my Specialised Epic. I have been on a technical workshop so I thought I would give it a go myself rather than the hassling my LBS with it. It took me about 3 hours to do the conversion and swop my cassette and rotors over, but by my standards that is not bad time. Downloaded the instruction manual from the AC website.
  7. Lawn mower afterwards...
  8. WTB wolverine did the trick for me.
  9. American Classic 29er Wide Lightning. Ordered today, arrive Monday. Love the extra width.
  10. Santini, not as expensive as Assos but not cheap either.
  11. As much as they offend masculinity, bib shorts are by far the best. The fact that they extend over your shoulders means less shifting on the seat which means less pain at the end of the day. Stay away from cheap brands. Cheap brands result in bad padding that loses shape and shifts. Good brands keep shape and maintain comfort. I have found Ftech to be great quality at good value.
  12. For many oomies, if it weren't for the view, they wouldn't make it to the finish line.
  13. Wasn't that bunny chow?
  14. Other than Gerotek there is nothing I would change. It is designed to be a tough and testing route. That's exactly what it was. With that under my belt I feel that I can manage any other 60km marathon out there.
  15. Just test drive the two over a weekend. If you can't feel the difference of the Epic then go for the Anthem. If you can feel the difference of the Epic, does R500 a year to service the brain really matter?
  16. Agreed, I only use my phone and wahoo kit at the moment. Works for now but not sure what to do when I need a GPS for a race. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
  17. Entered. Anything must be easier than the Hakahana Marathon.
  18. I might add: many races are now going the gps route. Before spending money on an iPhone compatible setup, consider the gps bike computer route so that you don't end up with a setup that becomes obsolete as gps races become the norm and not the exception. I suspect that the iPhone will soon offer apps that cater for gps racing, but give it some thought.
  19. *chuckle, chuckle* ... He said "ass". Seriously, look at the wahoo products. All Bluetooth compatible with iphone. Includes heart rate sensors and cadence sensors. There is an new add-on (I think it is called an "extender" or something like that) which looks like a bike computer and displays certain info from your iPhone incl heart rate and cadence. That way you can keep you iPhone in you camelback or pocket but still see the readings on the extender display. They can talk to the wahoo app or any other training app you might want to try out (there are many). I personally use mine with Strava.
  20. I have heard the Speshy Camber is a great all round bike. But it is about 30k and a 29er.
  21. Strava has me at 1267m
  22. I so wished at one stage that I had taken that split right and finished with the half marathon race. The one at the 4th water point that is. From then on I was only cursing life.
  23. rounded up to 70kms
  24. Good persevering Sweiss. I had a long day in the saddle, similar to you but not that long. It's the best way to get your fitness up. Those guys that finished in sub 3 hours have no idea what a true marathon it is for some. As for the cramps, I find chewing on some Gaviscons every hour or so helps. Small tablet form.
