  1. I had 'fun' with a knob in a new (W reg) Audi A4 (Blue) last night on the Old Pretoria Road (from Allendale to New Road) - I was in the Land Rover 110! Why do people think that they can drive at 'double the traffic speed' for over 1km in the yellow lane to get past all of the traffic? I have to say I resorted to 'childish mode' - blocked him in the yellow lane, then he tried 'straddling the middle of the road', then ended up behind me in the queue - I 'rolled back' deliberately so that he could not pull round me and waited for a while until some of the people he passed while racing in the yellow lane got past - when he got level with me, he avoided looking at me, and was a fat-bloke on the phone (he'd been driving at upto 140!, presumably while yattering on the phone). (as an aside, how come people can afford the expensive cars, but not the R3k for a 'hands free' kit?) He then went in the 'straight on' yellow lane at New Road and turned left at the lights to avoid the queue on the filter lanes - overall 'what a dick' It's not good that I resort to childish behavour, but what do you do? (I'd quite happily get out and put a knife through his, and many other a-Holes, tyres).
  2. No problem pre-ordering Colin (with the R50 additional discount )
  3. I voted yes - but you need all size jerseys available (I need XXXL)
  4. Thanks for the info Indigo Kid - fortunately I don't use 'Muscle Fuel' I use only the CytoPower (Isotonic) with a spoon of L-Glutamine in (and that is only based on it being the 'first I tried' and I like the taste) I would have thought that 'putting different ingredients on the label to those actually in the produce' was actually fraud, and would lead to prosecution. Just goes to show that we put too much trust in large corporates (who's motive is only profit!)
  5. Please give the background (in a non-libelous way) as to why other products are better than, say, USN - is in a quality, content, or cost issue? I use the USN isotonic type stuff (Lemon and Lime flavour) but use EVOX Recover.
  6. I have what they call a 'large volume' foot - not that long, but broad with a very high arch - hence most shoes (particularly cycling) are both too narrow and too 'tight' across the top (leading to numbness). I've tried Shimano, Olympic, Nike, Scott and Specialized and have only found the Specialized to be really comfortable. The Nike are OK for an hour or 2 (and they are better if I cycle to work, since they look more like trainers) but, for me, it has to be Specialized. I'm afraid it's a bit of trial and error (mostly error) - everyones feet are differenc, and walking up and down in the shop, will not tell you whether the shoes will be comfortable clamped to the bike for several hours.levett2009-09-07 04:30:45
  7. I have very wide feet, with a very high arch and have only found Specialised to be very comfortable. Nike Kato are tolerable, Olympic just about tolerable, and Shimano to be crippling! My recommendation is Specialised (I'm a 43 in a cycling shoe) if that helps
  8. Tarboy - It seems like a bit of a 'black art' to me, with everyone having an opinion! As far as I can establish, it is 'sort of' related to your height, but is actually related to your leg length and, even more specifically, your femur (I think) length, and then a bit of personal preference thrown in! I'm 1.78m, but have comparatively short legs, and a long body - I ride 175mm cranks on my MTB, and 172.5mm cranks on my Road Bike, but one of the web-sites with a 'formula' said I should be riding 160mm or less! Longer cranks = more leverage, but a more acute knee angle
  9. Slightly 'off topic' but, in the 7900 range, they sell an 11-28 Cassette. Does that mean that the 7800 derailleur can take 11-27, and the 7900 11-28?
  10. At the moment it's coming in around 11.5kg (I'm hoping to get it to around 11kg in 'Rough Guise' and around 10.5kg in 'Road Guise' - I have a set of Planet-X wheels with 700x32C Continental Sport Contact Tyres fitted. As we've talked about before, it's the wheels and tyres that kill the weight - the Planet-X On-One Scandal frame is only around 400g heravier than the very best (non-carbon) 26er frame - and it's a realistic price! The wheels are Bontrager Rhythm Comp TLR (came as part of a Gary Fisher 'kit' I bought) - I pulled the stickers off, as I always do! I hate the garish stickers they put over everything!
  11. And I put it in front of the caravan just to accentuate the orange on the Yutaak saddle (Though I'd be surprised if there is another caravan like it in SA - and it's like a Tardis!)
  12. I've now got my On-One 29er to a stage of build where it is rideable - just a few things I want to change when I find the right bits! What do you think?
  13. 1.78m 115kg
  14. Can you post his name, or PM me
  15. My Scandal 29'er (M) weighs in at exactly the same as your 26'er and I'm looking to shave a few hundred grams off with an XTR Rear Derailleur and an XTR Cassette. I think mine will end up, in final configuration at approx. 11.5kg (wheels and tyres on a 29'er accound for about 3kg!)
  16. TT = Top Tube (stretch between saddle and bars - actually the 'stretch' takes into account the stem and any 'forward' sweep of the bars) Hence 'bike fit' is not just the height of the TT (standover), but also the length (reach to the bars). Hence, with short legs, but a long body, I need a low-long TTlevett2009-06-02 03:16:39
  17. For me it's 'horses for courses' - on flat terain, the 29er has advantages in 'gearing' for standard 44, 32, 22 cranks and a 11-34 rear cassette. A 26" x 2 1/2" has a rolling circumference of around 2,110mm (22 & 34 = 1.37m per crank revolution, 44 & 11 = 8.44m per crank revolution) A 29" x 2.4" has a rolling circumference of around 2,330mm (22 & 34 = 1.51m per crank revolution, 44 & 11 = 9.32m per crank revolution) So a 29er might not be low enough geared for climbing, but will be better an the flat stuff (in reallity, a 29er is like having a 30 or 31 maximum sprocket on the rear, rather than a 32 or 34).
