  1. Sorry to hear about this, but check up with your household insurance. In some cases if the bikes are locked up in the garage they are covered under the household contents section. Not sure if this is the norm but all insurance companies i've been with in the last 3 years had this.

  3. I have always wondered about this breed of cyclist, try as i might i cannot get into their mindset
  4. Because for most of us we are our own worst competitor. when i am out on my bike going to work or home i don't take into account weather conditions or extra weight all i have in my mind is my best time and i always try and beat it. that way you get better and faster.
  5. Not when you have two flats and have to push the bike back home was only 6 km. but eish now i am gatvol
  6. Always have spares with you, always That is how my commute home started
  7. Saw that aswell and figured if it rains i won't have to shower when i get to the office
  8. done all the best and i hope Riley enjoy his new wheels. payment from sbk
  9. Here is the profile from 2012 think there was one small change close to the start, didn't do it last year as i was ill but looking forward to it this year http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/50027818/3846836
  10. A little off topic but still related, a couple of years ago i sold my PC on junk mail. The guy deposited the money into my account got the notification from the bank. Contacted the bank to make sure there is nothing fishy. They confirmed that the money has cleared and that nothing will go wrong. delivered the pc that night after work and the next day is was 15k short. lodged a fraud case at the police and one with the banking ombudsman, after a 2 month investigation the bank refunded me my money, due to the fact that the lady working at the counter at SBK in roodepoort central branch was part of the syndicate and over wrote the system to clear the cheque. and the fact that the sbk call center confirmed that the money was cleared also helped a bit. so fact is even when the bank says money is there doesn't mean money is there. cheques takes up to 7 days to clear so maybe put a standard 10 day waiting period on any purchases.
  11. hi Rich do you have a fb page or something similar we can share? will make my donation soon. all the best and hope you get there oops after checking the last post again i saw www.facebook.com/smileyrileyaustin, maybe me needs better spectacles
  12. nope sorry not there yet, I still check the weather the night before. Hats off to all the okes i see commuting everyday.
  13. biker mice are far worse than anything/anyone else on the road. and i don't mean the proper bikers on the super bikes, no i mean the wankers on their "pis kriek" don't wanna be a scooter but can't be a real bike crap. i was on albert road just past the bromwell, with cars parked on the left and moving traffic on the right, and this genius thinks there is enough space for him between me and the traffic. thankfully by some miracle we all squeezed past and i am now seriously considering a helmet or handle bar type mirror, so that i can see these idiots coming up from behind. and i keep wondering when has it become acceptable to pass on the left on a single lane? maybe i should go and renew my license but start from a leaners cause rules sure has changed 14 years
  14. Vineyard race it is a nice race but i have to admin for me it's a bit on the pricey side. And then of cource there is always the 100miler (on my to do list) and if you can find a team and need something to train for the DC in nov
  15. It is rated up to 9kg which should be sufficient for clothes and such, I tend to leave the laptop locked to my desk as i don't need another target on my bike back. Plus it's easy to remove over weekends
  16. Doing the route via the cycle lane to the woodstock bus stop and into obs currently only doing one way per day as i need the car for work but i leave around 5:15 am and around 4pm. Never had an issue except for the steel plate that was "affirmatively shopped" last year some time. luckily i was warned by some guys comming from town.
  17. Hi Loupie sorry about taking so long this is what it looks like, will upload different pics if you want this is off the net, can't link their pic I bought mine from city cycles in century city for around R200 if i remember corretly. the other option is the top peak one but that goes for close to R700 or R800 depending on where you buy http://www.aliexpress.com/item-img/Bicycle-after-stacking-shelf-luggage-rack-bicycle-quick-release-after-stacking-shelf-mountain-bike-tailstock-ride/1631809804.html It slides over your seat tube and fastens with a quick release.
  18. So with the expo starting today, we capetonians know to avoid everything close to the Goodhope center unless we really have to. But more to the point what specials have you guys seems apart from what was listed in the argus mag and on here? Like this for instance.
  19. Bellville Cycling Club responded that the kit that was worn by the individual was sponsored, this was stated much earlier in the thread, i think in the first 5 or 10 pages somewhere
  20. That is the feeling of most of hub members, except for a few that insist on knowing the "full story" before getting of the wire and choosing an appropriate action.
  21. Again We can go on and on trying different scenarios, but the outcome will all end up the same. what should have been done is no matter what happened the group should have been the men and let it go. If the driver caused damage or death the group should have reported it and let the law run it's cause. Do you feel that anything that might possibly have happened can justify the action taken?
  22. As per the drivers account of what went down. He was driving the van collecting water sachets that was left over after the big walk. The guys (unknown amount) in the back of the were playing with the sachets spraying each other with water, and for some reason sprayed the group of cyclists. Now this brings the what happened before that question to mind, did the cyclist perhaps shout abusive remarks at the driver thinking he was a taxi "out to get them"? Did the van pass the group of cyclists to close? Did the group ride more than two or three abreast? We can go on and on trying different scenarios, but the outcome will all end up the same. what should have been done is no matter what happened the group should have been the men and let it go. If the driver caused damage or death the group should have reported it and let the law run it's cause. That i feel is the reason the majority of us on here are passing judgement on the cyclists. Cause no matter what lead up to the visual evidence, nothing could justify the actions taken by the cyclists.
  23. I have lost my temper i am human, but i have never gotten physical in any way shape or form. I was taught, as many on here by judging the comments, that the true measure of a man is how said man handles a given confrontational situation. so in this instance i would simply apologize for whatever the people in the van thought i did wrong and be on my merry way. and maybe just maybe leave them behind pondering the situation and realizing that they aren't worth the time, effort or energy.
  24. Yes and no ménage à trois A household or relationship whereby three people live together as lovers. A sexual act or experience involving three people; a threesome. but back to the point at hand if that is the fact how do they treat/ease a cramp mid ride. I found that water especially cold water works best
  25. I’m sorry but as this is a family show Ménage à trois won’t be allowed. Now if only i can get my foot out of my mouth i can carry on
