  1. Those ‘Murican commentators do make it a tough watch.
  2. Very cryptic, but okay.
  3. If you don’t mind sharing, what “things”. Do you believe it to be inherent in a plant-based diet or just the manner in which you applied it? I unfortunately can’t agree with killing animals as being “vegan”. You can’t ethically and respectfully exploit and kill an individual. Unfortunately urbanisation is a modern day reality and will continue to increase into the future. The fantasy of living on a piece of land and being self-sufficient is not feasible for a population of 7 billion (10billion by 2050) and is not a justification for animal exploitation.
  4. You’re exactly right.
  5. Why did you give up?
  6. Ironically I’m now digging into a chikken burger at Lewis Hamilton’s Neat Burger. So good! ???? Will try and post pics later.
  7. There’s no such thing as a perfect nutritional study, especially long term. To label these studies as “worthless” does a disservice to researchers who produce quality research in good faith. There isn’t a significant amount of data on vegan communities long term, but there is a lot of data on predominantly plant-based communities from around the globe, as well as mid and short term data on vegans and their disease risk, longevity, etc. Studies show that vegans on a whole food plant based diet have better health outcomes than both their vegetarian and omnivore counterparts. I will always recommend people to follow a proper whole food based diet. A junk food vegan diet is not going to afford you great protection or allow for great health outcomes. Personally, I’m going on 4 years vegan.
  8. Here’s one: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/29659968/ There’s loads more, but I’m on my phone, so that’ll have to do for now.
  9. JC, sick that you’re representing the V-gang as a Gen Z’er. ???????? Drop your questions and experiences here in this thread. Lots of folks visit it, so it’ll get seen. Remember to get your nutrition dialled - do your research and if you’re not sure, ask. And yes, vegan ???? is hard AF. Just wait until you get a taste of vegan ????. So sweet.
  10. Earthling Ed is sitting less than 10m from me. Eek!
  11. Haven’t made it myself, but this mozzarella is apparently legit: https://schoolnightvegan.com/home/super-cheesy-vegan-mozzarella/
  12. Have a look at the study. It was discussed here not too long ago.
  13. Well, well, well. https://www.today.com/food/food-network-star-carl-ruiz-s-cause-death-revealed-t164780
  14. Go lick ATM keypads after payday for maximum exposure.
  15. If she's Colombian your risk of asphyxiation is exponentially greater than normal. Still, what a way to go.
  16. IIRC, they didn't name it, but Rip Esselstyn's has been doing amazing work with his Engine 2 diet, which is basically just a low fat, whole food plant based diet. His father, Caldwell Esselstyn Jr. has used that type of dietary protocol to reverse severe CAD: https://dresselstyn.com/JFP_06307_Article1.pdf
  17. Yeah, the whole erection things was a bit tongue in cheek, but there is science to back it up. I'm sure it can be replicated in a larger study. I enjoyed the docu. Watched it on the big screen before it was released on Netflix. It's just a shame that there's a bunch of long term vegans that have great athletic achievements, but probably weren't included as they didn't have that star/sex appeal of the newer crop of athletes. People like Fiona Oakes comes to mind. Still highly recommended though.
  18. One thing to keep in mind when asking a producer whether their 'Product X' is tested on animals, is that they are quite sly in how they can approach it: They can rightly claim that 'Product X' hasn't been tested on animals, but it's constituent ingredients may have been tested; They can claim that they themselves don't test on animals, but oftentimes contract testing out to a 3rd party; If that product (cosmetics/toiletries) is sold in mainland China, it has been tested on animals. Animal testing is required by law in China. Thus, they might not have tested in EU or ZA, but if they sell in China, they paid for testing to be done.
  19. For those who find the images and video shared disturbing and want to do something about it, there's a lot you can do. At home, start by looking at your toiletries/cosmetics and cleaning products. To find products that are cruelty-free there are a bunch of resources online. Here's a few: https://www.crueltyfreekitty.com/list-of-cruelty-free-brands/#http://vegansociety.org.za/savs-endorsed-products/https://www.essentials.co.za/beauty-and-fashion/cruelty-free-make-up-beauty-brands-south-africahttp://www.vegansa.com/products.phpIf a product you typically use isn't labelled as cruelty free or vegan, you can always email the manufacturer and ask them whether something is cruelty-free and vegan. Here's a good resource on writing those kinds of mails: https://www.crueltyfreekitty.com/cruelty-free-101/how-to-determine-company-cruelty-free/ The same applies to your cleaning products. If you're not sure, find out. It's your right as a consumer to know how the product has been made (its constituent ingredients) and how it was determined as safe for use. There's no reason to use cosmetics/toiletries/home cleaning products that have been tested or derived from animals. A little bit of research and you can cut out support for these abhorrent practices.
  20. I don't think blame should be laid at the feet of the workers. It's the organisation and the desire for this kind of testing that is problematic. Just like in slaughterhouses, these people have to deal with non-human animals who are being subjected to immense suffering and want to avoid it, so they resist and fight back. Ultimately, much of the mishandling is a result of the frustration caused by that resistance.
  21. Follow up: is one better than the other i.t.o. co-op/split screen titles? Stuff like Forza, Halo, etc. immediately come to mind.
  22. Quick question to the gamers: I'm in the market for a console. Xbox One S, yay or nay? I'm not a serious gamer, so don't need the latest 'n greatest. Any reason not to get it or go the PS4 route?
  23. Jeezus Christ. So much for the basic tenet of public participation in law making.
  24. Here's a tough one. I've not really discussed this here, but here's a look into another way we relentlessly exploit our fellow earthlings: animal testing. Dead Beagle placed on a 'meat' hook Beagle left bloodied in a barren cage Cat killed and dumped in a plastic bag Monkey forced into a 'fixatiestoel' Please watch the undercover footage: https://youtu.be/MSmAEPD86KM
