  1. Just shout and I can pick one up for you tomorrow.
  2. They were at the PMB registration venue, just got back from there now. They may well be online as well.
  3. Also, good news if you ran last year. The 2018 finisher jacket is selling at R299, which is pretty reasonable.
  4. Geez, double figures, that's frightening.
  5. Spoiler alert on the caps. I hope you enjoyed the last two years editions because you're getting the same thing.
  6. I picked up a pair of the 9 a month ago, not convinced about them yet but might need to do more mileage in them. I know my Rides only really bed in after about 150km and then they feel great.
  7. Cool, I'm going there to grab socks later so I'll Whatsapp you.
  8. For anybody looking for a new set of kicks, Gordon at the Randburg Runner sent me his sales schedule for the next week or so: 4-5 June: R400 off Brooks Ghost 11 - R1,995 5-6 June: R500 off Asics Kayano 25 - R2,195 6-7 June: R300 off New Balance 880 V8 - R1,795 10-11 June: R400 off various Hokas - R1,995 11-12 June: R400 off Brooks Glycerin 16 - R2,195 12-13 June: R300 off Saucony Ride ISO - R1,795 13-14 June: R400 off New Balance 860 V8 - R1,895 I don't know much about the other shoes but I'm going to jump on that Saucony Ride special for sure. Out of that lot, can anybody recommend a daily trainer that's racier than the Ride as an option for up-tempo work?
  9. "Sent at 11:32pm" so there's every possibility Bruce was into the last stretch of his 7th brandy.
  10. Agree with Edgar's race assessment here, my only regret about running is that I can't watch the women's race. Just so many good runners who have their eyes on 1st place rather than just a gold. My final prediction is: Women Ann Gerda Camille Men Bongmusa Steve Way Gift Ann's tactics to win will be interesting since she'll have to figure out a way to nullify Gerda. She seems to thrive off an element of negativity, thinking she's being underestimated, so the amount of expectation that Gerda will win will put her into overdrive. Not sure how she'll go about it, though? Possibly push the pace hard and take the lead early then run off sheer fear for the remaining 60km. She's taken the Japanese approach and bludgeoned her training with simple volume, I wouldn't be surprised if her Jan to Jun mileage is close on 4,000km. But John Hamlett's Sparta tactic can work well—if you're one of the lucky ones—since you're either broken before your race or you arrive in freak condition. I think that may benefit Gift Kelehe too and see him returning to the podium.
  11. That event looks amazing, what a setting.
  12. Thanks, man. There are probably worse times in training to be man-down so I'm not too stressed at this stage, it was just typically daft of me. For some reason I always decide to do some DIY about two weeks out from Comrades. I'm not too stressed, the back should be fine by next week and the sniffles should be gone by this weekend so I'll just put in a few jogs and then take the day as it comes and enjoy whatever it offers. It's Comrades so it's guaranteed to be a wonderful day out regardless.
  13. Jess has been nice and consistent with her training. I've been very happy with mine until yesterday, when I pulled my back whilst removing our fireplace. It's in full-blown spasms at the moment but hopefully it'll recover by the end of this week and I can get in some short, sharp runs until Comrades. You?
  14. Big credit to Ferret and Edgar for blazing 34 minutes and 35 minutes respectively at the RAC 10km. I can't get my head around that speed over that course. It's just not a PB course! And also to Edgar's wife for smashing well under 40 minutes on that hilly route. You guys are in amazing form for Comrades.
  15. Accurate description of Comrades when you're in the middle of the bunch then. (I'm assuming I'm not the only one that uses "trump" to describe farting.)
  16. Good luck, man. Looking forward to your post-race report.
  17. I saw your photos on Strava, it looked epic.
  18. Unpopular opinion: I actually like Walmsley. He is what he is and he doesn't stage manage his personality. He overshoots often and gets criticised but, again, I respect him for that. As someone who often takes the cautious route, it's great watching another guy who is happy to toe right up to the line of what his body is capable of, even if it means overstepping it sometimes and bombing out of the win in a ball of flames. I doubt I'd be best mates with him but I do appreciate that there are people like him around.
  19. That hoody is damn nice… but, yeah, R1,000 hurts a bit. They should offer the merchandise afterwards with a 30% discount if you've finished the race.
  20. Thanks, Hacc, I entered that Quatro Race of Hope you suggested. I toyed with the idea of a trail run but I think my legs are desperate to get that high turnover that one gets from a short road race. They're getting jumpy now. You going to be there?
  21. Having witnessed my wife run a PB marathon whilst dealing with period cramps, I'd say a person that needs that feature doesn't need any coddling.
