  1. I think we must be related somehow waaayy back Gen, our sons sound the same!
  2. Weve been doing a lot of orienteering...havent had so much fun in ages! Thank goodness we have some amazing areas here to keep ourselves sane. We also hoping cape town marathon doesnt get cancelled but I think most events will be until 2021. Im very keen to see the new cricket format that these guys have come up with...3 teams with 8 players. 2 teams fielding and 1 team batting, last batsman can stay in, just need to run 2s ..
  3. Im soooo bleak..one of the best events, Lynford 50km trail, that I have been working myself up to, ive only dont the 2 day version, has been cancelled. I dont know why I didn't anticipate it, figured maybe because its such a small event and in Sept, that it would happen but sadly another one falls.
  4. We doing it but not registering...just going to do it for fun, and will be the only time we can do a half comrades
  5. https://brooksrunning-sa.co.za/sale/ Here you go...some running tights
  6. We run at 7am and still in shorts. My husband runs early early and he uses a pair of First Ascent long tights and shorts over. I find that as long as my arms and ankles are warm, im okay for now.
  7. My new shoes day to...got myself a pair of Hoka Torrents. Been alternating between Hoka Speed Goats and Asics Trabuco but these Torrents are the bomb...simple comfy shoes..minimal cushioning minimal fuss. Really enjoyed them...
  8. Thanks guys I bought the Hoka Speedgoat, only shoe that I ever spent a fortune on and I last 200km in them and gave up. I battled with the stack height and felt I was always trying to "hang on" to the shoe. Now I use them to hike in and have accepted that im just not a Hoka person. Think I must go see what Poobie has in the Saucony range, their prices are usually pretty much the same as One day Only.
  9. Anyone here run in Saucony? What are your impression of them? Im looking for a trail shoe and find the Asics Trabuco quiet "stiff"
  10. Ran the new Capital City half marathon yesterday (old PMB marathon), my husband ran the full marathon...what a great, well thought out route. Only negative is that we started in the dark and the first 3km were very slow because there were no street lights and plenty potholes and the marshalls and water tables were not quite ready. I can only think that they will better it next year and a really good route for a qualifier judging by the times friends of mine did it in.
  11. Have you been spying on me....I have actually thought about paddling it...we were talking about it on the weekend, but I can ride a bike and running is fun...paddling id need some lessons! Jackes: We stayed in Underberg, just over the road from the golf course. R1500 for both of us for both nights makes it a super comfy, great value event!
  12. I love my Mizuno's and luckily they havent become "famous" so easy to pick up for a couple of hundred rand on One day only.. Did Run the Rivers this weekend...guys, ive now ridden it and run it and its incredible value for money!! If anyone is looking for a beautiful trail run in Underberg, this is 5*.
  13. Ive looked at Wolkberg..think you have spoken about it before...looks really nice but yeah gets costly. So far for me the best run is Zingela at R6000 for both of us all inclusive, for luxury (rustic)accommodation good food and magic trails. No coms so there is no checking in at home which is a great bonus. https://www.zingelatrailrun.co.za/
  14. I think im also going to do something like that...JewB..you have given us some food for thought. I could book at those same places and still go do those hikes but run them...without having to pay the R1700/R2050 entry.
  15. @Andrew..looking at Montusi, we cant look at the camping option because we camp in a VW bus and then we would be stuck for a ride to the start. Weve asked if we bring bikes to ride to the start if there was somewhere safe to keep them but they said no. Thanks JewB' im inclined to agree. Even Oxpecker is cheaper and they lay it on thick!
  16. Question guys: Is Run the Berg really worth the huge cost?? cheapest im finding is R6390 for self catering accommodation and entry. Thats more expensive than Zingela with all meals and luxury accommodation included??
  17. Thanks guys...I also couldnt believe it was the watch! Oh well...now to see what the "friends" story is.
  18. Are there any guys here that have the Fenix 5s? I bought one for my husband for his birthday from a friend of his who was upgrading...the trouble is that the battery only lasts about 4 hours...surely this cant be!! There are 2 option here....the friend was not being a friend when he sold it to us as in great condition...or...the battery is seriously useless!!! Hence my question..which is it...??
  19. Hahaha,,Stretchy, if I dont get my half entry, il consider the Ultra, but having said that...Im trying to get Haydn to do the False 50. Im keen to do that one.

    Haval

From a womans perspective..Renault Sandero. We have the 1.6 and not one minute of problems. Brilliant car with all the bells and whistle and much prettier than the H1.
  21. Mizuno on special on One day only today if anyone runs in them.
