  1. Timely reminder - and gr8 you came out ok. Thanks for posting
  2. Looks very nice - just gone on my (long) wishlist
  3. Hoping they put a pack of Motivation in there - mine seems to be running low of late
  4. Don't stress on being ready - take it easy up Hels and ride yourself into it. Once over the top, just enjoy it, not a tough ride except if the wind really blows, and plenty of great scenery to enjoy if you are struggling and decide to take it easy Never had an issue parking - there is a car park at the school, and usually street parking around and about too.
  5. Amen to that! Even on 28mm touring tyres with nice spongy low pressures last winter, the inside line was a bone shaking section
  6. My riding this year certainly doesn't justify an F .... so I'll probably see you in T as I slide back ... Edit: except an F for FAIL that is
  7. Group F for me - training, fitness and health all been k*k so far this season, so I'm definitely too slow for it. Will sit back and enjoy the gentle breeze from all the groups behind me blasting past ....
  8. Every site I've checked has said the same thing ... there will be some weather ....
  9. Great - enjoy your goodies!
  10. Actually a bit more - as I got 2 sets of rims, hubs etc (one wheelset for touring) - plus some serious luggage for audaxing. But ok, yeah - ton may have been an exaggeration
  11. Ordered a ton of stuff from overseas (SJS, Wiggle, CRC, Star bike, various other small shops too). Some parcels came quick some came slow, but all arrived. Never had any gone missing regardless of shipping method - DHL from Germany was slowest, but it got here in the end. Customs duties (generally just VAT) you pay at the PO counter when you collect, or to the courier before they deliver. Some small items didn't get charged any extra (spokes etc). Edit: when I say a "ton" - I mean quite literally almost an entire bike in bits and bobs
  12. Not about the bling necessarily - but high performance, and endurance without maintenance aren't the same thing. Think of an F1 car - super expensive, super high performance, but probably needs a total rebuild after each race. In general, high performance high spec parts are made from lightweight materials. That'll tend to mean more servicing and tuning not less.
  13. Flawed logic - unless the price premium being paid is for long maintenance free endurance, which for most high-end/high-cost components is not the case.
  14. He was tempting with a very nice shiny R45 set just the other day. The toolbox that Chris King supply for these is a work of art in itself. Budget may get raided .... will match very nicely to the Chris King BB which replaced the piece of junk I had before
  15. Well done! Sounds like a great event. Gutted I can't make it up in November for the 600 - hopefully be able to make it up for some rides next year.
  16. +1 for William's. Rare day I trust my bikes anywhere else
  17. Might be worth dropping Wayne Roberts and the WP cycling guys a message on that - or posting via their FB pages. They seem pretty pro-active on getting road events going, so if the interest is there maybe they'd help out.
  18. Errr ... joke ... sense of humour failure DON'T ALWAYS OVER REACT AND START SHOUTING
  19. PPA gotta pay for those nice offices, cars and lawyers somehow ....
  20. Went with Cyclesure. They were only one who would confirm in writing the liability on overseas rides.
  21. Doh - replied to wrong thread, where's delete!
  22. Argus seeding has always been a bit of a mystery to me. I did Burger in 2:56 last year, and was seeded P I think (1st group behind Nedbank group). A lot of guys went fast last year on Burger though due to the perfect conditions, and I'm also not sure if that ride was used as my main seeding result. Burger has quite a low Beta I think. Edit - correction was in Q
  23. Yep - about same as mine if I remember to start fully charged.
  24. Yep - mine Samsung too, even without Endomondo running
  25. Also like that livetrack - how do you find it hits your phone battery life? (Endomondo is nice but kills mine)
