  1. This also prompted me to go have a look at all the apps/connections I have. Deleted a few I dont use any more. Also mapped out how things flow and confirmed nothing important comes from Strava (had to repoint one or to to Garmin). Gave up my Strava premium because of this - will keep them just to give some kudos to friends after big races, but for training and fitness tracking Xert, Garmin and now intervals.icu have me covered.
  2. my laymans interpretation: Manufacturer says once you hand over your money, they will stand behind their product giving you x years of service. If it breaks, they will repair or replace to ensure you get your x years of warrantied service from their product. Their contractual obligation runs out after the x years since orginial transaction expires. You didn't enter into a new transaction / agreement with them every time they replaced the device - that was only done to make good on their initial commitment to you. Look at this example: If you get a new warranty in Oct 2022 and it breaks Sept 2024, do you expect a warranty to now last until Sept 2026. And if it breaks on June 2026 you want another replacement + warranty until 2028, etc, etc, etc? Not sure that's a realistic expectation - but I may be too soft on the evil, greedy people running these corporations.
  3. Yep, that's what I understand too. So just to be clear on what you are saying here for my understanding... In my example it breaks 1 May 2024. 7 months left of ORIGINAL warranty. I get a new device and warranty runs until 31 Dec 2024 (original warranty period) - because remaining warranty is > 90 days. Are we on the same page?
  4. I never understood it like that. More in line with what Bike Dewing posted. So the question is, when didbyou buy the original unit. @cadenceblur, to my mind they advertised 2 year warranty on new unit that you paid for. You arent paying for the replacement unit again, so thats the distinction
  5. No it doesnt E.g. if you buy 1 Jan 2023 with a 2 year warrant, the manufacturer will cover you up to 31 Dec 2024. If you get a replacement on 01 May 2024, you dont get a new warrant to 30 Apr 2026. The manufacturer just guarranteed use of their product for 2 years from purchase date. You may be able to argue for a bit of an extension if you lost use of product for e.g. a month while being returned to them for assessment, etc. Bit not a 'new' full 2 years
  6. New unit should be warrantied for the full term since the original purchase surely? Only way this makes sense is if you had 90 days left of original warranty period. You cant expect a warranty to reset to full duration from date when you got replacement
  7. You'd think if PPA knew about this spot, they'd put a marshall there knowing a few peletons would come racing through on Sunday?
  8. How is timing done tomorrow?
  9. Ja nee, stem
  10. Ag FFS...this is going to be enough of an endurance test with my fitness as it is without it also being a rain drenched sufferfest.... Lets hope the unjinxes work! 🤞
  11. Skeer jou borshare
  12. +1 Also went through 2. Warranty replacement process and support was great, but not really trusting them enough to spend $$$ on them next time
  13. Ok,.only now noticed a year between your two posts...agree, they can do a lot better! Maybe they dont want the events to grow too big 😜
  14. I must be getting the marketing intended for you...DeVilliers National Cycling spams me at least 2 times a week with 2 emails at a time for their events. 😁 I dont want to unsubscribe though, since I actually enjoyed the last few Boland 100milers a lot and dont do socials much. Looking forward to the race, hope the weather is good (and there are a few DC teams out that I can hook on to)
