  1. Actually saw someone on Strava that did n extra 14km due to an unexpected detour. Not sure what contributed to that. I also did the 30 so can't comment on the other races
  2. Who else got to enjoy the ride today? Was very nice day on the trail. We did the 30km. which ended on 33km. But those extras were not that bad. Agree with limiting single tracks on the shorter routes as it can cause lots of frustrations. Water stations were well stocked. And the events tent was very well organised with sufficient food and drinks for all. Some feedback to share was the loading of the groups which given the space were going to be a challenge. As was the seeding which I am not sure how that was done. But I will be back next year again for the race.
  3. Did have a laugh at the seeding, so my wife who has ridden a few races got a worst seeding than my son that has only done the 15km race. So we will be starting in the A batch of the 30km, while she is in the B batch. But it will be no surprise when she shoots past us All good
  4. We need the rain and will be fun riding in the rain. The afterparty in the rain maybe. ot so much. lol
  5. They have indicated that they taking a "break" this year before coming back with a bang the following year "This year we’ll focus on the fun take for mountain bikers and even beginners and the younger crowd can enjoy this stunning area of Stellenbosch. We wanted to take a break from the annual format to give us enough time to develop a new rider offering for 2019. "
  6. Entered, but don't think I was one of the first 25...
  7. Always better to rather bring to life an old thread than start a new one.
  8. Cannot make it this year but all the best to all that is joining in the fun. Hope it is a huge success.
  9. That and you have two other races on the same day, one being the mini w2w Wonder if you add up all 3 how many participants were involved, the houw hoek is a bit difficult as there is no timing done
  10. Really hope that they are still there next year as I would love to do it.
  11. Very sad for those that entered into, brings up the question of insurance again, and how much you would be able to claim from the different products in the market (ie entry fee, flights, accommodation, etc)
  12. I think this year that have swopped some of the routes, starting with the big climbs, because flip did the looong one last year and hitting that tallest mountain in the western cape at the end was just tough
  13. Would probably have selected this one over the w2w, but this year not going to do either. but think next year might just save to do this one..
  14. It shows on the website that entries only open on the 25th of April
  15. Signed up for the whole family
  16. They do sometimes change the winners time
  17. eish I miss a better seeing with 1 min, oh well. Is strange maybe they only got a seeding for the 75 and 56 (the two longer races)
  18. http://www.pedalpower.org.za/seeding/
  19. makes sense, that would give them a nice boost in their seedings, but negatively impact the overall beta. Except having an additional mat at another spot there is not really a way to police this is there. ..or flag those that had a HUGE improvement in their time and see if they strava
  20. Seeding is out for the event, and you would not guess, the Beta dropped from 1.14 to 0.88 for the 75km...Can just assume that most people doing the 75km had a great day out there
  21. Actually worse.. if you keep trying to sign up..it goes too... Sorry but you do not meet the minimum seeding criteria in order to enter the 160km Premier Event! You may enter any of the other distances in the Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic 2018.
  22. See you guys next year.. and oh can't remember when last I have actually had a race where my garmin and the actual distance was spot on.
  23. for those guys at the sharp end of the race, was there any issues with the route mergers? Was wondering if that section where the 75 and 56 gets together. Also I can attest I had no issues with the young guns shooting past, was considerate and friendly, not sure how they experience some of the other riders on route. Another thing that I like, the race organisers take into account the comments on the race and not scared to change the route for this, for example that second climb, they change the route up to the right, and also cut out the final climb to the top of that hill (another organiser that for me also does this is the Darling Brew crew, they flipped the long race around, so you go up the mountain first {or I misread the route profile}
