  1. They don't want you to cut the boards, one of the reasons that the chip is stuck on top of the board, and it won't work if you damage it. But yeah they are the size of a large number of mtb race boards, which gets used for easy identification (be that for the camera crew, or from a marshal perspective)
  2. In the cape you also become use to the weather predictions changing. Many a time it was a certainty for rain (seen a 100% prediction), that never happened. Yes might be nice to mentally prepare for what it coming (or change of clothing), but the weather on the day will be the weather on the day and nothing we can do about it, ok maybe those guys that decided between the different rim types and / or mtb vs road bike
  3. Race briefing email & route map
  4. What about the guys in the rhino bike, think it was a custom made bike that with a few riders
  5. Start time of 7:00 ?
  6. Probably the same start as last year (as you said Arra on google), but now see that the finish line has changed.
  7. That would mean the first group of the Long Route (60km)
  8. Just one discrepancy, the website indicates that the pickup on Friday is only till 6pm, while the email indicates till 7pm, I will trust the email REGISTRATION (NUMBER COLLECTION) Registration 1: Date: Thursday, 1 March Time: 10am - 6pm Venue: Rondebosch Golf Club, 100 Klipfontein Road, Mowbray Registration 2: Date: Friday 2 March Time: 12pm - 7pm Venue: Delvera Hall, R44, Stellenbosch
  9. I saw it at the PPA this weekend also, the second letter indicates the route, and the first letter the group {hey mom seems I CAN rhyme)
  10. Got mine too: Yeah.. Was really looking forward to do the triple this year, as I was on route last year to get 3 CTCT medals (excluding the one in the post), now will have to stick with two (plus the extra you get for doing both)
  11. Everyone excited about the race, seems it will be a hot day out there, and just make sure you are aware the race is on the Saturday and not like last year the Sunday
  12. soo.... seems all the love for the CTCT has been around the road race, not that much activity around the MTB race, which is just a few days away...
  13. It is a fine line for sure, if they start disqualifying racers they will be branded as overreaching, but if they dont participants wont stick to the rules and just say well it was safe when they did it. Did think the ideal would be for them to have cameras mounted on their helmets or bikes which can serve as proof of bad behaviour
  14. is there any opinion on which groups generally misbehaves the most (talking about the ones where they pretend that are still racing for positions, dangerous tactics, closing gaps for others, all talk but not willing to work outfront till the end where they sprint)
  15. Not sure how accurate / valid the comment was that was made at the PPA race this morning, but it appears that those that did not enjoy the N7 bit, won't need to ride it again in future. There appear to have been to many riders breaking across the white line, and the authorities have informed the PPA that they don't need to apply again in future as permission will not be given. Think this might also impact any Southern Subs races, due to the width of the roads there, the number of participants, the extent to which traffic has significantly increased in the last few years, even if there was a will, I doubt they will get to see a long race ever again there.
  16. I see the classifieds are full of people trying to sell their entries, but quiet a few wants to sell it at full price, not taking (purposefully or innocently) into account that there is a substitution cost involved for the person buying it. hmm probably more of a statement than question
  17. Regarding the number pick ups, I would venture a guess it will be based on the new approach where you : 1) use your racetec chip to scan 2) it displays your name, start time / group 3) if you agree they print your number there and then Benefits, if you have a dispute you sort it out right there, and you have some certainty that your racerec is linked to the correct person
  18. Looks like the road might be a bit wet on Friday morning, but I am NOT complaining
  19. Same here.. just saw the sender.. got excited ... and then the subject line
  20. Really nice app that, makes it more "real" than just a normal picture That route is quite a bit different to the mid-route from last year, which went along the other side of the dam too, but did note some one said that due to the drought they made some changes
  21. oops forgot to put the list in comic sans italics
  22. Does that include changing sections of the waterpoints to watering holes, where you can get beers / wine / etc? But lets get practical, what would be some of the tips for cyclist - Don't shower before the race, and "bank" your shower for after the race - If you HAVE to wash / spray off your bike, share a shower with your bike - Out of towners to fill their bottles, "BEFORE" they arrive in cape town
  23. That is what I like about the routes there. Just enjoyment of riding on nature not tooo many difficult parts other than umph in the legs to do the climbs
  24. Also sending a thanks for the landowner for the help in keeping the route clear and riding awesome. As one of the few wooded areas it remains a special bit for me
  25. Routes mostly the same as previous years ?
