  1. I'd suggest pulling in the ASA as well.
  2. So I managed a 3:18 Satellite classic. Not sure a sub-3 947 is on the cards yet, but I think it'll be close.
  3. Best way to get with a group that's likely to match your ability. Further, try sitting at the front for a bit, if you're feeling particularly energetic. I also take a couple of km before I settle in. Trying to stick with the guys at the front is a damn good warmup.
  4. Google "PPA seeding"
  5. Try and start at the front of your batch and stick with the pointy end. If your seeding is at all correct for you, it should leave you pretty exhausted by the end.
  6. So seeding has been updated with Satellite results. Got a fairly big boost, thanks to it. Previous best seeding: 47.74, which was good enough to get me into i batch for 947. Now, 33.95.
  7. Ditto. Someone somewhere is telling porkies.
  8. Yip, decided the hang back from a couple of km before Hekpoort. The flow of the bunch went to hell on the few bumps before the proper climb starts. I ended up overtaking some guys on the climb but the leaders pulled ahead, not to be seen again. All in all, it was a very pleasurable ride though.
  9. I was in that group for a while. You guys pulled pretty damn hard.
  10. Slowest guys (typically unseeded) start at the back. Otherwise the faster guys would have to overtake them, causing issues. 5 hours to cover 80km of which most is relatively flat, should be ample. It's 16km/h average.
  11. Yes, but you're not your average fatty with Mickey Mouse power Hekpoort can make the rest of the race dreadful if you push up it too hard.
  12. Can you perhaps share the TCX file for this? I'd like to save it on my Garmin as a course.
  13. Looks like they removed them. Mine is missing as well. Guess they released it a bit early.
  14. Check your entered events on the racetec site.
  15. Yip, will be nice to actually have a group, vs the free for all that was the J batch for me, last year.
  16. I for me. May just reseed. Depending on how the Satellite goes.
  17. 31.58km/h? Although I did round up on the 31.57. It's actually 31.566666...
  18. Just going to spitball here, but maybe 94.7/3 = 31.57km/h?
  19. ASG's website for their seeding system. Pedalpower.org.za/seeding/ for racetec.
  20. If you haven't entered yet, I'd suggest having a go at the 80km. If you're reasonably fit, you'll end up with a good enough seeding to get yourself ahead of the charity bunches.
  21. Yes, but only if you request a reseed at the 947.
  22. Picked up a pair of Fizik R5Bs yesterday. I've been eyeing a new pair of shoes for a while and they're super comfortable compared to my cheapo previous pair. Also, the missus' road bike is being built up. I'll probably finish that tomorrow. Pics to follow.
  23. Great. You can tow me along
