  1. Let's hope for a launch special
  2. It makes me feel better about fitting SRAM Guides or Hopes
  3. That's way more reasonable. I'll probably end up getting a brakeset from there, unless cwcycles comes to the party with one of their awesome deals.

  5. Yep, at those price points, it doesn't really make sense to not go XT. I wonder how much they go for internationally.
  6. At those temperatures, I'm surprised your drink isn't frozen solid. Complete nutter! Big respect for the dedication though.
  7. I've been doing a Trainer Road programme for the last month or so. With a week of flu and knee injury mixed in, I still managed to improve my PB on a local climb from 19:27 to 17:27, during that period. I did a FTP test on Monday, but the trainer didn't switch to slope mode and held me back, so the results weren't useful. I suspect it added a few percentage points already, judging by my Strava segments. Training with power really works for me.
  8. Bit of a far drive for such a short event and it clashes with a mtb race that I have an appointment with after suffering through it last year, but will definitely try to grab the next one! Hope it's a super successful event with many more to come.
  9. I'd be happy to try it out for you in the meantime?
  10. Not sure what the significance of having a thru-axle is? If anything, quick release is easier, as you'll have to get the appropriate fitting to fit a thru-axle bike, which may or may not be a pain.
  11. Your mtb can go on an IDT if you get the right model, do no need for a road bike. Smart trainers typically have some form of internal method for measuring power, so you don't need a power meter. Going for a "dumb" trainer instead, a power meter would be very beneficial. Technically you can just ride in heart rate, but power is better if you're at all serious about this. Cadence is nice to have, along with heart rate. You can get sensors from someone like Wahoo. As die videos and such - some can be downloaded, some you stream. I typically use Trainer Road at the moment, which doesn't do videos out of the box, though you can apparently add third party videos. Haven't bothered with this myself. I just have the graphs and then Youtube or something playing next to it.
  12. I assume everything is calibrated?
  13. Look that I can understand. The trainer measures at the wheel, so whatever losses you have through your drive train, won't be taken into account. Feathering the brakes while pedalling will have the trainer show you a way lower power reading than the pedals. The pedals are probably the more correct of the two, if I had to guess.
  14. The differences should be a few percentage points though, nothing as large as 50W.
  15. Agreed. Time trial only for them. Or tie someone from one of the last batches to them so they have something to tow around.
  16. Geez. Some big engines in small packages. Smallblock V8s? Not prepared to post my FTP yet - first need to sort out some training shortcomings - but you guys set the bar pretty damn high.
  17. Very nice. Was considering that frame as well. Hope it gives you many happy (s)miles!
  18. Duplicate post
  19. Okay great. I was starting to reconsider my profession.
  20. Do you maybe know how to get all sessions of an exercise programme that you are busy with, scheduled in the app? It's as if it doesn't know I'm busy with X, so I need to go find the next session by going through the list of programmes.Probably just user error on my part.
  21. GCN Logistics. R395 from Cape Town to Pretoria, and it took a day. This was for my road bike.
  22. Had no idea. Do I do this via my LBS or can I go direct?
  23. Much jealousy. I've been thinking of exactly the same... Where did you find that frame?
