  1. They're not flashing you, they're flashing your wheels.
  2. I'll take them for a test drive for you?
  3. It's the same route as last year, right? I didn't bother to actually compare... If so: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0Bzsqj2AZaOtvakxpTFp6WGtxSEE?usp=sharing
  4. Looking for a derailleur hanger. I've managed to track one down from a distributor in France, but I'm not super hopeful that I'll receive my order from there.
  5. Received my American Classic 420 Aero 3 wheelset today. They look well made and are relatively light. Not sure how I feel about the colour scheme but nothing a set of decals can't fix.
  6. "is it worth it?" is such a weird question. What do you intend to get out of it?
  7. You can import it for cheaper. The 9100 allows you to adjust the throw of the shifting mechanism, instead of the stupid system where you have two stop screws. Probably my favourite upgrade on my bike thus far.
  8. Right, so I ordered a wheelset from a local shop that sells online, in the Cape. The same day, I ordered items from CRC. The latter was delivered on the second business day after the order was placed. I don't think the wheels have even shipped yet. Crazy to think that something can get to my door from the UK in a third (and counting) of the time it takes to get it from the Cape. Edit - a follow-up email later and I've been informed they just shipped. So doubt I'll get them this week still.
  9. Whoever gets it, will be seeded according to their seeding, so tour start time is irrelevant. As for payment, you're not allowed to ask for more than the original cost - R520 I believe. I'm sure it'll go quickly, if you post it in the classifieds.
  10. Right, so still waiting for the wheels. The FD is a thing of beauty. No longer does it have a stop screw for the top instead it seems it has a screw that adjusts a cam that pushes the maximum up. Shifting and adjusting is way easier. Also, it has its own tensioning adjustment built into the unit. Why it wasn't designed this way in the first place, I'll never know.
  11. They won't reseed based on recent races done after the cut-off, unlike last year. Unfortunately, this means a rather late start for us. I suggest you people invest in sunblock companies, I'll have to stock up on large quantities of SPF 50
  12. Insurance on higher end bikes is fantastic value for money. I recently claimed for a hundred times my monthly premium, to replace some parts.
  13. Some new bits arrived from CRC today. They're replacement parts for a tumble I took. Wheels (AM 420 Aero 3) should arrive Wednesday, I suspect. That's the new Dura Ace front derailleur. Solves some issues experienced with shifting, apparently.
  14. So I've been looking for a replacement derailleur hanger. Went to a well known local shop who proceeded to order me a generic unit that they said would fit, after looking at my hanger. Turns out it didn't fit and I was still expected to pay for it because it was a custom order. Now I'm having one made by someone here on the hub. I also recently got a quote for replacement Dura-Ace 9000 shifters. R12k for the set. Twelve. Thousand. Rand. For two shifters. Ended up getting a set of 9001 shifters for R4.5k on CRC, along with a whole bunch of other stuff, still coming in under R12k.
  15. What's a good custom build for R8-10k these days? Prices have gone wonky along with the Rand and never recovered.
  16. That's pretty scary, considering the relatively short runoff and narrow area you go down...
  17. Sure. If I get her to start with me, she can push me up the climbs. It'll be a nice, relaxing ride. But she'll have to work hard to get me that sub-3.
  18. Because she rode fastone yesterday and that is how you get them to include its result in the seeding. I just want to get her as far away from the last batch as possible.
  19. Speaking of seeding that has allegedly already been done. Has anyone received any info on it yet? Would like to get a reseed for the missus.
