  1. On that list there are 9 South Africans... (our TdF chef this year will also be a Saffa, Lindsey.) 13 African riders on WT Team 10 African riders on CT Team 4 South Africans on CT staff So that's 36 Africans on the team.
  2. Does anybody have the swim distance from their GPS? It was my first 70.3 distance. I still cant swim... never done a triathlon where somebody has swum slower than me and then beaten me overall. haha! but really enjoyed it... bike and run route was really good i thought.
  3. Hi Guys! Does anyone know where i could possibly get hold of a decent calendar of multisport events for 2013? If not, is there a comprehensive one out there from 2012 which im able to download? Tks!
  4. Awesome!!!
  5. Thanks Jeremy, miss the good racing we had too...

  7. Trying to determine a ranking based on the cycle lab seeding index is very inaccurate... the only way to do it is like this http://cyclingfaith.blogspot.com/2011/12/final-2011-cyclingfaith-rankings.html
  8. Also enjoy using endo... nice app, just wish it didn't eat so much battery power... then again my phone is getting rather tired.
  9. Wow but there are a lot of whingers and whiners from the Cape...
  10. Back home! Weekend was awesome... Stayed at the flamboyant holiday flats, got to see 3 of the big 5 as well as the hippo's, croc's and plenty buck. Only managed an hour ride each day around St. Lucia town... Not really rider friendly at all, but was good none the less. Did meet 4 pom's who are cycling to Kenya from Durban though...
  11. Thanks for the advice guys... never been out that way before so i'll take it easy and just pedal a little here and there. Will let u all know if i make it back alive on Tuesday then. Have an awesome weekend fella's!
  12. Serious... sjo, in JHB we look out for hi jackers in St. Lucia, Hyena's... thanks will keep my eye out for though.
  13. Im going to St. Lucia this weekend, taking the road bikes with... anybody ridden down there? Whats it like? any good routes to suggest?
  14. do i see some cross country races there in the future? Nice work... p.s. wish you'd change your hub ad already, to something more cycling orientated.
  15. I recommend that you stay away from a coach that only works with you online vie e-mailed training programs while you son is still young and inexperienced. Here are is a link to the CSA coaching site... My link there are a number of good coaches on here... i personally can recommend clint curtis and jaco ferreira, really good. and if your super serious and are willing to spend a bit for world class coaching here in gauteng then try My link
  16. Im sorry but these unbranded frames just look pathetic... kinda like this car http://www.carfolio.com/images/dbimages/zgas/models/id/7226/multipla.jpg who would want 1 in the first place?
  17. Unfortunately in mtb you dont really get big teams and so sponsorship is rather select. So, you need to get your son involved with a good coach... most good coaches have connections. Also look at getting him involved with a club that have a good number of Junior mtb riders... i know Fritz Pienaar Cycles had something going for junior mtb riders. Can always phone and ask them. Otherwise i think the Mr Price youth academy is still going, they were predominately a road academy... not sure how many mtb riders they may have now. Another option is to get a hold of the team jeep guys, they wont take your son on into their racing team straight away but if they dont have an academy or club of riders he could join then they may be able to give you some usefull advice and will at least know of your son for future reference. If you decide to go it alone and "sponsor" him yourself. It is important that he consistently takes part in the most publicized races... winning the timbuktu mtb race is good for the spirit but does null for exposure. Get him riding the national xc series, miway half marathon series and nissan series and if he is consistent then he will raise eyebrows... either way, sponsor or no sponsor it'll still cost you a fair bit in the beginning. Good Luck
  18. Just ride on the left... way safer! Also, nothing irritates me more than having a cyclist/commuter coming at me while out training... always feel tempted to push them into their oncoming traffic. otherwise, cycle smack bang in the middle of the road... everyone will see u then.
  19. I can highly recommend dry needling/long needle treatment from a physio... works like a charm and is far less painfull then getting it "rubbed right"
  20. Firstly... you cant really compare the Epic and ToSA because firstly the epic is for everyone and the ToSA is only for the pro's. Secondly, for the epic there is an entry fee of R17 000 per rider which goes to the race organisers and is probably/obviously used to pay for the races expenses. In UCI road stage races like the ToSA, the race organisers have to pay the teams to compete, pay for there transport from where ever in the world they fly from, for their accommodation in hotels etc... there is no entry fee that they pay in at all and so the races sponsor has to cover all race expenses on its own. And these are the regulations laid down by the UCI so no real way around it. but, secondly... CSA found sponsorship for the 2011 ToSA in Cell C and primedia or who ever... but did such a pathetic job at the managerial and sporting aspect of the race that no sponsor would want to align themselves with CSA again for 2012. So with regard to that aspect, yes i think if you gave Kevin 12mil and said organise the tour of SA he would be able to put on a spectacle that the world would watch. But the problem lies squarely on Greg Till and Barry Mocke... (by the way, who was Barry Mocke before he joined CSA?) they got the 12mil or what eva it was, and didn't have a cooking clue how to spend it in the best interest of the race, the riders, the public or the sponsors... the thing is you need guys with drive and passion for business as well as the sport at the same in the most influential positions... Andrew Mclean, Doug Ryder, Malcolm Lange, Barry Austin, Hendrik Lemmer... look at those guys, their passion for the sport is unquestionable and the business's they run are successful and known by all in the cycling circles... these are the guys that need to be running the CSA show. Not these Greg and Barry "feed my own bank account and belly" guys!
  21. I think his belly has got slightly bigger since his last appearance on Supercycling so things must be going well (for him)... but seriously, it was definitely concerning to hear they have absolutely no plan with regards to cycle safety... surely they need to take on some of the responsibility of safe cycling??? this is probably a rather useless experiment but i typed Cycling safety into the Great Britain website and then also into CSA's website... 13600 results regarding Cycling Safety came up on the Great Britain site and only 52 results on the CSA website...
  22. So the president, Greg Till was on Supercycling last night and said a whole lot about nothing... anybody feeling extremely positive about Cycling South Africa right about now?
  23. This was some of the 2011 Plan published on the CSA site.... CSA Licensing System CSA have developed a new online data management system that will be fast, efficient and easy to use. It will be available for 01 November to Riders and 15 October to clubs and affiliates. This system will be on the CSA web site (www.cyclingsa.com). The system will also have the following features · National Seeding System · National Points system · Online Entry System for CSA events (such as SA Championship events) · National Calendar and race information system · A rider communication system · A National Results system · Connectivity to all affiliated online entry companies and timing systems
  24. Thought id try my luck here.... coz i doubt CSA even know whats happening yet but does anybody know how CSA plan to structure the licensed racing next year?. This year it was supposed to be Cat 1-4 with a CSA seeding etc. etc. etc!!! that didnt last... so is it just going to be the normal elite, VA-VC again? Are they doing away with the team requirement of 4 elites 1 pdi and so on???
  25. Hmmm... the specialized is nice but the bike will be needed for Joberg2C race i.e. marathon racing, so not such an aggressive frame/geometry is needed. Maybe best bet is a very small frame with short stem then... any other ideas though?
