  1. Spent some time with the flamingos at a salt mine
  2. PROGRESS! Components are at my SIL to get repainted. We compromised with the colour scheme, instead of going full art bike like I originally wanted, we're doing gloss black and lime green like my wife wanted. First bit of kit arrived this morning, nothing spectacular, but will post a pic when I get home. I still require a seatpost and handlebar if anyone has something laying about
  3. I'm in. I just need to drop4kg, but f@#! me I've been trying to drop it for more than a year!
  4. Just pump them till they go see-through
  5. I don't know if it's good, but a bloke in our group drops me every time. Must be the bike
  6. Current situation. All bits removed apart from seatpost which is seized solid. I'll have to cut it up most likely, I can spot some delamination anyway, so it's time for it to be laid to rest My wife has now decided that she likes this project so much, that she wants the bike. No more art bike. She wants a black and lime green bike.... A few details noticed during tear down: -The fork is in damn good nick from what I can see. -Headset needs to be replaced. -BB bearings shot, will try repack, otherwise replace -Crankset still in good nick, but will try polishing up. May lose the Ultegra logos then -Rear derailleur in fair condition, but pulleys will have to be replaced -Front derailleur still in good nick -Shifters have seen a couple of wars, but still work great. I will be 3D printing new parts for the sun damaged pieces -Need to find a new seatpost. If I can find an aero one, even beter -Apart from a broken spoke in the rear, the wheelset is in good shape, but a pair of 50mm clinchers may find their way on the bike if I can find a reasonably priced set That's it for now, hopefully by the time it's 2019, the frame will be stripped of paint
  7. Fairly certain I can pull off a sub 4 on my roadbike, but I'm doing the scenic ride with my cousin
  8. Progress. The rear wheel is out and at the LBS to rebuild, although I'm on the hunt for some 50mm clinchers. The seat post is is stuck solid and also looks like the carbon weave is damaged, so a new post is on the cards as well. Everything else is dismantled and ready to be stripped of paint.
  9. No, but thanks Nick. UK-Saffa, back to your thread!
  10. This is going to haunt me till I get it and then it may not even be the same bike
  11. Hang, have I not seen this bike somewhere before? GCN maybe? Dunno, somewhere international and famous
  12. Indeed it was and obviously not washed well enough after a 100km race on those same roads
  13. Thanks. Bike was stored in a locked up bike room in the house, but at the coast
  14. Am I stupid or is there an extra step to removing a roadbike rear wheel? QR Skewer out, chain off and then? Cut the chainstay off with a sawzall? I've sprayed WD40, silicon lube, nanofancypantspray, moered it with a hammer, tried to leverage it out with a screw driver, buggerall will get the wheel out.
  15. Thanks Sean The BB is fine and so are the shifters (just look miff) Seeing as it's a project bike, I'd like to refresh it all if possible, so it doesn't have to be an exact set at all, just something that works and looks better than this trashed set
  16. Cpt is a bit too far for my time constraints, but thank you. I've spoken to Bogus before, very reasonably priced and amazing work
  17. I want to do a wild paint job if I can find a local painter who can pull it off, otherwise just a ghosted flat black bike. Time is little, so we'll see
  18. Bar and stem will most definitely be replaced by carbon bits, even if they are alloy bits Sub 6 hour, I'm all for the adventure
  19. I want to replace the whole drivetrain, including shifters anyway, so I'm not too fussed about that. Everything (apart from the chain) moves okay though
  20. Not my proudest moment I'll admit. Obviously didn't dry it properly before storing in the bike room for months with a locked door. Doesn't help being at the coast either. Oh well, great excuse to upgrade, I mean rebuild
  21. Morning guys. I am on the lookout for a replacement groupset for my roadbike. It's Ultegra 9 speed circa 2007, but I do not know much more than this. If anyone can assist, please PM me. Willing to pay
