  1. In the same boat. Then you get people like my cousin. No love or time for their 3 kids. He and his wife are not worth being called parents (and I do not care if they see this, they know how I feel) But on the plus side, I would not be able to take care of kids at this stage, so kind of a blessing
  2. The one surgeon (Dr Durandt) at Eugene Marais hospital could pick up the tumors with sonar. The bloodwork is a gamble as my blood at this stage shows that I am cancer free, but the MRI shows all 3 tumors clear and well and growing. They did not do any other blood tests afterwards, but if they could do a blood-test a month prior to the colonoscopy it would have been better, and less of a shock to my wife as the ass hole doctor scared the crap out of her by telling her first of my diagnosis and with 0 tact and in a full waiting room. So the other patients knew even before I knew! Colon cancer is a bitch according to the oncologist because it hides itself. Best will be to look for signs. Blood in stool, change in shape of stool (not always a clear indication), change in frequency of having to go... and any weird pains in your organs. Like the tumor pushing on my bladder that caused pain.
  3. Silly question. Living without a spleen. How does it effect you?My spleen should have been removed, but The surgeon at Steve Biko decided to screw things up with a six hour surgery for a stoma only, and removal of nothing else. But the oncologist said we need to cut, and AFAIK my spleen needs to go.
  4. Thanks for the message. The stats are mind boggling to be honest. But the last year things just started escalating. Even the hospitals are starting to note the increase over the last few years. The major issue with colon cancer is that most medical aids and most doctors would not do a colonoscopy to people under 50 because they deem it a low risk age group, causing a lot of people that could have been diagnosed before they are at late stages. And most abdominal problems for younger people are seen as IBS or a bug. Thinking back the amount of times I went to a GP for stomach problems, they should have put two and two together, but a lot of doctors are just a sausage machine. Antibiotics, Imodium and some other meds. They did not look for the underlying causes of the problems. But that is in the past, but again, if you struggle with problems go see your doctor and if they are the you are to young, move on, and get someone who knows that cancer does not have a age limit.

  6. I loved the series. Had to stop due to memory issues. I can’t remember most of what I watch. So will give it another attempt soon.
  7. Thinking back on the past three weeks with headaches and sickness all the time, I can understand the need for the MRI now. Only after talking to the nursing staff and seeing one of the nurses cry when I spoke to her about it all, she said why the MRI was needed. Then the true meaning sunk in. One the cancer could have spread, and the other reason was to see if I had a stroke. The thought of that left me rattled last night. I only fell asleep after 03h00 this morning. The thought rattling me... What will become of my wife! Tomorrow I have an appointment with our house doctor as the oncologist advised that I should see her to get blood pressure meds. My average BP for the past 4 weeks were above 145/95 it peaked at 145/105... Precious to that the average was 120/75
  8. Just floored again. Wrote to the Admin of Back a Buddy about all the unexpected expenses the last few weeks and he said they will create a link on their FB page. https://www.facebook.com/471470743005868/posts/1359291084223825/?sfnsn=mo So Not sure if it is the blood pressure that is brining on the emotions or just the willingness of people to help and assist people. As a person who always had to fend for myself in every situation it still astounds me that people are willing to help. If it wasn’t for the help from Bikehub and friends that helped I would be at the mercy of the state and their poison that took the feeling in my hands and feet. The nurses that are just there for the pay and the doctor with the worst attitude towards his patients. Thanks everyone for all your help and assisting in helping me stay alive. Without you, I would be dead!
  9. Yeah I was totally surprised as well. Even got photographic evidence of it.
  10. Brain scan came back as all clear, so could continue the chemo session
  11. Chemo was halted. I have a 12h00 appointment to get a brain MRI. The doctor is worried about the headaches that I have been having for the past two weeks. So have to get the scan before we can continue. So I am a bit stressed now. Not a nice feeling when the doctor is worried about your brain. Had a fever last night and had about 3 hours of sleep. Hope the MRI is quick as I need to be awake for this one
  12. [emoji22] sorry to hear Gogo. Seems that cancer is claiming people left and right. As if it is speeding up and treatment does not work at all.
  13. Sugar can be a cause without a doubt. We did the banting diet for a year or so, but started using USN products for the protein and diet related matter in their products, but there is also heaps of sugar in it, and growth of the tumor started around that time. But there is a load of hidden sugars in all the foods we consume these days. Everything has sugar added. So I will not say that sugar is not a problem. The amount of sugar loaded things in my home right now is shocking.
  14. Had a very bad weekend. Have been excreting a rather unusual amount of blood. Been feeling it as I am drained. After the CowHouse attempt I got on the couch and fell asleep. Yesterday, my wife had a class for an exam next week, or this week, and I slept most of the day. Just got back from the hospital for my bloodwork to be done, and seeing the doctor tomorrow and getting chemo tomorrow as well. When I got home a few minutes ago I saw that a fellow warrior has fallen this morning. So she can rest now. Sorry for my language but I ******* hate cancer and I am so angry and sad at this stage! Why this bloody disease is still a problem and killing good people left and is an enigma!
  15. Maybe I should hook this up and do a bit of flight sim work... My brother sent it to me seeing that he gets to fly real helicopters now
  16. Took the bike and drone out yesterday.... https://youtu.be/dCXm7ukntAs Still need to work on my editing, and piloting skills. Wind was at about 20km/h at that stage. So the drone gulped the energy from the battery in a few minutes. Think I got some 10 minutes of flight time in.
  17. As you just put it, I can’t wait! Another stunning adventure to go on. Looking forward to this trip. Just thinking of it all is making me emotional.
  18. Seeing that there are a few frequent fliers on here... Do not laugh, but I am nervous like never before. My uncle bought flight tickets from Lanseria to Cape Town next month. No don’t laugh but I have never flown in a airplane before. Yes at age 38 it will be my first time in a plane. What can I expect? I took a flip in a chopper few years back for a photoshoot, so chopper with no doors and space for 4 people. Will they look at me funny if I have a surgical mask on (infection is a real problem and can kill me at this stage) Any tips? And sorry for the hijack.
  19. As soon as I started I knew I was in for trouble. Just getting the bike of the car raised my pulse to 140. But I had to get out today. Took a bit of footage as well, but somehow made a mess of the whole cycling and being followed. Will see if I can work with it a bit.
  20. So I found out what a beta blocker does.... It keeps me from killing myself! Beta blocker Non Beta blocker Do not know how I missed the beta blocker this morning, but at one stage I was looking for the way back to the car. Stopped a while under a tree and limped home. Was not a very fun experience
  21. True. Will rather use Strava. The Wahoo Elemnt Mini is the ultimate letdown
  22. And nothing else to compete with at the time...
  23. That is nothing. My wife did not see the original Aladdin movie!
  24. Went out today again on the bike. Think it was about 15km of cycling because I forgot to start Strava and the Elemnt Mini did not gather distance data. My HR data for the trip: The heat caught me off guard. Will try to get to CowHouse earlier in the mornings. I was caught off guard when I got to my car as I could not hold back the tears. And again I say I can’t do this without the support and help from my friends here on BikeHub!
