  1. I can't comment on the process on the claim without having sight of the assessor reports ( and they won't share it with me), however, based on other posts that I've seen in social media and my own experience with Naked, they are usually recommended for great claims experiences. My own vehicle write off claim was settled within a week and half and I got my excess back 4 months later ( the recovery sometimes takes much longer)
  2. I recently posted a question the Magene light, but had no feedback. I decided to get it none the less and it's been great so far. My only gripe is that it connects to the Garmin (320 Plus), forms the light network with my Varia radar, but then disconnects about 5 min into the ride. Once it is reconnected, it works fine. Few light beam options controllable from the head unit Reviews/ specs actually showed that it only works with the 340 and above series, but this might have sorted with software updates, so I'm happy that it works. Decent beam and battery life seems ok for an early morning ride. Bonus is that you can use it as a battery bank too ( small cable is incl in the box). I got mine from my LBS in GP. Bought online, got a 15% discount and then just collected it form the shop
  3. Not worth it not being honest. Insurers are taking a much harder stance on fraudulent claims. Where previously they just cancelled your policy, you ( not you specifically OP, I'm using the term generally) now run the risk of being blacklisted in the Industry, and having a criminal case opened. Once you are blacklisted, your whole household is affected as any member would need to declare that you were cancelled as result of fraud. So the convicted won't even be able to take out a policy in his/ her spouse's name
  4. I'm with Naked and have not had any issues on my previous claim. When in doubt, your policy terms and conditions will dictate in respect of how the item should be insured. If you do not insure for the full value then you are not paying the full premium and the Insurer will prorata the settlement accordingly. From their website: How much should you insure your bicycle for? The golden rule is to insure it for what it would cost to buy new today. If the model of your bicycle is no longer sold, then insure it for the price of a similar one. If it’s custom-built, make sure you’re considering the price of every individual part. You do not own the carbon wheels, your comment state you were testing them. You cannot claim for them from your policy. Your buddy however can claim for them if they are insured on his policy.
  5. I got quoted R1100 (found a guy on FB) to replace the battery on my 320 plus. (a simple 45 min ride drops the battery by 45%).
  6. Actually sound Afrikaans but then he did call me a fkn boer so there goes that theory
  7. Post on FB for a full indoor trainer setup ( Kickr, Headwind, Climb and Desk) Price was R20 000 then changed to R10 000. ( I've flagged it as a scam now) Poster is a Charles Bowen but a Lionel responds with a number to dial. Then the usual " Lots of interest, someone is on the way now, put down a deposit, ect" starts. Supposedly stays in Weltevreden Park. When I said I'm 5 min away just give me the address, lots of swearing followed. Number involved: 083 483 3801 ( Truecaller shows as Lionel Plett. Tent April)
  8. If you can live with the odd 2 gig download ( mine is showing I need to download 6 gig's of content) This just after I installed the app again on my new phone
  9. You are right, and it doesn't seem that the Garmin app is available on Huawei store
  10. If the Huawei runs on Android, can you not install the Varia app on the watch?
  11. Morning Does anyone have some real world feedback on these lights? Based on reviews the battery life far outshines the Garmin UT800 ( and it has more lumens) It does show that it can only integrate with Garmin Edge 530 and up but I'm assuming that's only for the control from your head unit and all other functionalities will still work fine ( auto dimming, etc)
  12. Slightly off topic but still Disco related: Anyone else seeing huge increases on the Discovery Insurance premiums?
  13. Previously I've sung the praises of the Decathlon strap and monitor. The second (or third) Gen currently available has let me down. Constant HR drops. I've changed batteries which solves the problem for about a week before it acts up again. Picked up the Polar H9 unit last week. Feels a bit heavier (?), but so far no issues, seems much more stabler than others I've used
  14. Been toying with the idea of a tandem for a while now. What is the "correct" age to start the young ones on a tandem. Twins are almost 7 & half, and this could give us some riding together time.
