  1. Try Forbes, costs me R100 for R42k cover. Just had a claim now, took a while (3 weeks) but no problems. Agree with Hello Peter option. You'll immidiatly see who gets the compliments and who gets the complaints. Just bear in mind that there is always 2 (3 sides) to every story.Azkikr2009-07-07 04:08:44

I've seen frames advertised for R10k (ASR) without fork. I bought mine for R18k complete
  4. Ouch! Atleast I have a BMC too. It might balance out the "common"
  5. ...and Commencal?
  6. The total loss option would normally apply to when your whole house burns down and there is no way to determine if you were correctly insured. The company would then just pay you the sum insured less your excess. Not really applicable to cycles were one item is involved and determining replacement value is easier (sometimes )
  7. but as Porky mentioned, there are always exceptions but option 2 would apply 99% of the time. The previously mentioned policy wording aka "Terma & Conditions" of your insurance policy ususally states that all items should be insured for their full replacement value. If you choose to underinsure, technically you are not complying with the terms of the contract, so why should the Insurer?
  8. option 2!
  9. Mampara is spot on, The principle of "average" applies to most non motor claims (contents, allrisks such as bicycles, ect) If you elect to insure your R50k bike for only R25k, you are only paying for 50% of the risk and the insurance company will then only pay 50% of your claim. You cannot claim R50 if R25k is your maximum indemnity. If your replacement quote states R50k and you only insured for R25k, expect to get paid R12500 less excess.
  10. I think the medical term is "handlebar palsy". I had same problem after the 94.7. If you Google the term, there is some concerning statements indicating that it might lead to permanent damage, ect. Bike fitting should take care or at least lessen the problem. Worked for me!
  11. Yip, guess the money I'll save on cleaning stuff should pay for the black tape in no time! ps. share your sentiments on the chefs direct!
  12. mmmmm i've got the fizik ones! damn... should have gone for the black one!
  13. I was expecting some comments like this. It seemed like a good idea at the time!
  14. Hi all, So how do you keep your white bar tape nice and clean? thanks!
  15. Well up to now, I've been using diluted Sunlight sprayed on with one of those Mr Muscle/ Handy Andy bottles. Seems like it was a bad idea according to the posts. Parrafin for the drive train and a bit of elbow crease with a toothbrush works wonders.
