All insurance companies have the visible forced entry clause when dealing with claims from outbuildings (such as your garage). This means you have to show where they broke the lock to get into the garage. If you have an alarm endorsement and you do not arm the alarm and suffer a break-in, your claim can be repudiated even if there is visible forced entry. You usually only have to prove visible forced entry into your house if you are claiming for cash (for which you have limited cover anyway, usually less than R1000). When insuring anything under the all risk/ portable possession section (also known as specifying an item) you usually enjoy cover for all eventuallities except if it is proven that you were negligent. Your cycles will be covered under the all risk section on your policy, giving you cover anywere in the world and for races unless it is a specific exclusion on your policy (usually only if you are a pro).

Also with AF. had a claim beginning of 2009, no problems. Just remember to insure for what your bike will be worth if you had to replace today. Have heard of some guys getting their bikes stolen but because they are under-insured they could only replace the frame.

If you're in Gauteng go to one of the Adidas or Nike factory stores in Woodmead and buy a compression top (one of the hot weather gear types). It works for me and if you buy the right one you won't overheat. I know Tekkie Town also sell the Nike ones.

Outside Estcourt there is a tough climb. Think it's called Hedgehog Hill. On day 3 of a 4 day ride from Jhb to Dbn, it is brutal on your tired legs. Don't have the ascent details, sorry

2nd time round for me

Myself and some friends were also out cycling in the cradle on Saturday morning. It did look like a race was on with all the cyclists putting in some last ditch effort before the 94.7. Hell, I even saw the MTN support vehicle stop to assist one of the Cyclelab cyclist. Horror! Here are my comments/ opinion: Yes, the volume this weekend was a lot higher than previous times Yes, there was some "idiots" that give those of us that "behave" a bad name. In our group we also ride 2/3 abreast but move back into single file if we hear or see a vehicle approach. Another factor here is the current road works going on and the road surface. The cradle is one of the few spots in Gauteng with an actual cycle lane (albeit just for certain sections), however, the road surface on sections of the cycle lane is quite bumpy, and being on a road cycle without any front suspension to soak up these bumps, it is easier on the arms and hands to move to the right of the yellow lane in search of that elusive smooth piece of tar. The road works have also taken probably a third of portions of the road out of play. It gets quite hairy if there is cars coming from both directions (the road is only that wide!) Most of the times you would take a chance and move into the roadwork sections (you can see the sections I'm referring to in one of the photos) but then you risk getting your tyres cut on the uneven surface. I'd reitterate the previous calls for some cool heads. Not all cyclists are to blame here. In the words of Ringo Starr: "peace and love"......

They usually ride out on the West Rand, Hendrik Potgieter, ect. I have seen them going through red lights (given that there was no cars crossing at the time) you can decide if this is wrong or right or a grey area, and also one of the riders cycle without a helmet on a previous occasion. I agree with Droo. Betterment is usually only charged in regards to wear and tear on tyres. The compnay will repalce your olds with new ones but you will pay the difference in respect to the tread used. eg. If your tyres are 50% used, you will need to pay in 50% of the value for the new ones fitted. Care to name the company?

I recon the 20km riders this year got off lightly in comparison to last years 20km route

Even with the hill spreading out the field, there was still some bottlenecking at the techical sections on top of the mountain. I am inclined to say that the route should have been run the other way around. There was also some riders that turned around and rode back on top of the mountain. Dodging them got interesting between all those loose rocks!

I threw away half a container of Staminade as it turned rock hard after not being used for a month. As for the rest, have not had any issues with their other products

After reading all the suggestions above, I first tried the boiling water option before considering the demolition option. 4 kettles later and the carbonpost came loose! Now, deciding whether to stay with the carbon post or fiting the alu one. thanks for all the suggestions above, it saved me a seatpost!

I also had no problems. Can't remember if last year was easier or not.
