  1. There's a few Titan's for sale on Marketplace for around R3500 to R5000. For me that would be a safe bet
  2. The new Polar Street X looks proper...... but you still can't use it for golf like Garmin or Huawei
  3. Maiden test ride on the tandem. Benmeister loved it now that he finally fits (technically he needs to grow about 2cm to be 100% comfortable). Excuse the rag tag clothing. There was some complaints so I've sorted him out with some padded shorts. Twin sister will need to grow a bit more before she'll reach the pedals though. She's half a head shorter. Bike still needs some tweaking to get it comfortable. ( the gatorskins will be replaced with 30mm Goodyear Eagles, as a start)
  4. Need some advise please. My son has moved onto a 24". I have a spare trainer ( Tacx Vortex) that I might as well use to get him to ride with me online. Challenge/ Question: Do you get training tyres for a 24"? Do I look for a cheap 26r and set that up for him to ride ( same question regarding training tyres, 26") Any other suggestions related to this perhaps?
  5. One of the self appointed Keepers of the Parking lot, tried stopping me while I was driving out. I just ignored him like a taxi driver ignores a stop street. There were a few guys hanging around while we were parking trying to get buy in form drivers that they could watch their cars
  6. The young lad looked strong going up Homestead. Lots of people pushing up Jan Smuts past the zoo and into Braamfontein. That last waterpoint with the cones trying to block off the grates was an accident waiting to happen. Traffic in the morning coming from the West Rand was a nightmare, the 2km odd back up took me longer than the 25km +- to get there. I bettered my time from last year by 30min from J batch. (I'm sure the tow by the Omie on the e-bike mtb on the highway helped) Side note: some guys should not be riding near the front of a group if they keep swerving and overlapping wheels.
  7. Happy with mine. Only gripe is that the Golf app only measures yards. I usually measure my cycling with my Garmin and only use the Huawei for running or golf, so I cant comment on the other exercises ( golf doesn't show up in Strava like it does with Garmin's as example, to your point)
  8. Managed to get this. Needs some small adjustments to the gears and brakes. Also need a shorter seatpost for the back and new bar tape before we can go riding. Compared to my carbon road bike this thing is a tank!
  9. Unless you have an asset all risk policy, you definitely need to specify items you want cover away from your risk address.
  10. Unless their wording specifically states that you must specify all jewelry and watches, your garmin if stolen from inside your house should be covered. In general terms, if you turn your house upside down, everything that falls out is contents. The NFO (Ombud) should rule in your favour if it ends up there (in my opinion) Ps. Garmin refers to Fenix, etc as Smartwatch
  11. Garmin is probably Ant + vs Woosh using Bluetooth. ( I could be wrong)
  12. I also found that happening if you have another device ( bluetooth) that might link to the trainer. If I open my Suunto watch to record the session, Woosh doesn't pick up the trainer ( Tacx Vortex). I have to exit training on the watch and unplug the trainer before it connects again.
  13. Thanks, we tied the halfwheeler about 2 years ago. Did not enjoy it and ended up selling it within 3 months. Will keep an eye out for a medium/ large front, small back tandem.
  14. So my daughter has said she'll start riding again if its with me on a "double bike". So now the question is, what size tandem do I need? I'm assuming it's a small in the back. Will it be small enough though. The twins are 8. Brother is slightly taller than his sister.
  15. With all the new registration points, does that mean the usual expo is no more ( atleast for this year)?
  16. Anyone know why uploads defaults to Garmin Edge 1030 plus in Strava? Side note, my ride was cut short by a puncture tonight and Strava's AI noted "virtual ride with flat tyre interruption".......
  17. And Gumtree. I've taken to flagging these as scam when I see them on FB
  18. They grow out of then fairly quickly. We bought the twins Muna bikes off FB. Then upgraded to the 12 inch versions ( singlespeed). While my daughter has lost her riding eagerness, my son still rides the Spruit with me, He is getting to big for his 20" now, so its upgrade time again soon As much as riding a new bike is awesome, to me, it doesn't make sense buying new if you are going to buy another larger size shortly
  19. Loads of those ads around. If you take a screenshot on Android and then ask Google Lens for a match, it usually generates the original ad. If you call the "seller" they will ask for airtime to be transferred or a deposit and then disappear.
  20. Yikes, another 6Gig update to download
  21. How do I reset my Polar V650? | Polar Global
  22. There was a NFO (OSTI) ruling that Insurers cannot apply betterment on worn tyres. There is a similar ruling that Insurers may use alternative or second hand parts where your vehicle is out of warranty. (You cannot expect to get a new door fitted to your 20 year old mazda as example)
  23. I can't comment on the process on the claim without having sight of the assessor reports ( and they won't share it with me), however, based on other posts that I've seen in social media and my own experience with Naked, they are usually recommended for great claims experiences. My own vehicle write off claim was settled within a week and half and I got my excess back 4 months later ( the recovery sometimes takes much longer)
  24. I recently posted a question the Magene light, but had no feedback. I decided to get it none the less and it's been great so far. My only gripe is that it connects to the Garmin (320 Plus), forms the light network with my Varia radar, but then disconnects about 5 min into the ride. Once it is reconnected, it works fine. Few light beam options controllable from the head unit Reviews/ specs actually showed that it only works with the 340 and above series, but this might have sorted with software updates, so I'm happy that it works. Decent beam and battery life seems ok for an early morning ride. Bonus is that you can use it as a battery bank too ( small cable is incl in the box). I got mine from my LBS in GP. Bought online, got a 15% discount and then just collected it form the shop
  25. Not worth it not being honest. Insurers are taking a much harder stance on fraudulent claims. Where previously they just cancelled your policy, you ( not you specifically OP, I'm using the term generally) now run the risk of being blacklisted in the Industry, and having a criminal case opened. Once you are blacklisted, your whole household is affected as any member would need to declare that you were cancelled as result of fraud. So the convicted won't even be able to take out a policy in his/ her spouse's name
