  1. I find the coffee ones packs a nice punch thanks to the caffeine!
  2. Water works for me up to about 50km, then I need something to carry me home for the last 30 odd km's on my regular ride. That said I alsways have a Powerbar and a gel in my back pocket just in case, and a few R's for a coke (mix with water so you don't get a big sugar spike) if needed. For races around 100km, Epic Pro suits me just fine.

    2012 94.7

Same here, did 3:15 last year. This will be my 5th. Have so far better my previous year's time by 15-20 min, so sub 3 is next goal.
  4. So how hard should I be training for this? I know it's all relative, I'm not planning on racing, if I enter, and I also have no issue with the distance. I've heard from some that although the climbs are tough, the waiting between stages is what gets you too.
  5. App is called "size my bike ", Thanks for the quick responses. Seems either would work fine.
  6. Thanks! 1.79m Used the Size my Bike app on iphone, and it got my roadbike setup spot-on. It suggested a 175mm crank for the mtb.
  7. I currently use a 172.5mm crank on my road bike and a 175mm on my Yeti ASR 26'er. Currently building a 29er and need to buy a new crank. my question(s) is/are: Will the crank lenght on the 29er be the same as the roadbike or the 26er? Does it matter or will either work fine?
  8. Just checking, your post said 3 days.... Also still contemplating entering. Was down there last weekend, some tough climbs!
  9. How is the Prologo mtb saddles? Had one on my roadbike which was quite comfortable. Currently still on a Gobi with no issues.
  10. You know it's not 3 days, but 3 stages in 1 day? :-)

    New Jock route

Hi Any one got finality over which route will apply this year? I've received emails saying it's back to the old route, some guys still saying the new Kaapschehoop route, ect.
  12. Also had issues the one time I used them. Fly from Lanseria to CPT with my golfclubs, no problem. Same luggage at check in for flight back is suddenly overweight and my handluggage is too big, ect, ect. R100 later = last time I use them!
  13. Had same issue with my 800. Removed the magnet and problem is solved
  14. After removing the speed sensor from bike, I'm enjoying my Garmin 800 a lot.
  15. Definately fit first, then decide on hard or soft. This will also depend on your definition of soft. Spongy or more compliant than the hard saddle. For me, Gobi on the mtb and hard Alliante on my road bike. Also have one of those 120g Selle Italia saddles for when I need the extra 20g weight saving :-)
  16. Ordered from BC twice, both times received emails later saying "oops, there is no stock of the item you have ordered".
  17. Road or mtb? There is/was a few groups riding on the road from Ruimsig during the week. Leewee's cycle group ride from their shop on Saturday mornings.
  18. Might look at going, just spent a week in Cape Town, only drinking craft beers! yummy! (did miss my bikes though)
  19. Bad Boy Bill - Falling Anthem. Oldie but still pumping on the ipod
  20. no worries, all in the past!:-)
  21. Don't know if this was the same accident, mate of mine ( riding in Roadcover kit) was involved in an accident around that distance. He mentioned guys falling in font of him and he could'nt avoid them. He has few roasties on his back and his bike seemed ok. He did lose his glasses though and his bottle, both were gone when he was looking for them directly afterwards.
  22. I thought everything was well organised, found the medals by accident on way back to the car. Real distance was probably closer to 106km, if you take the trek to the start/ finish into consideration. Only traffic issue was crossing over Rietfontein close to the end when a big a$$ truck decided to ignore the marshall. Almost got taken out by a rider in helivac kit near the end, who knows why he was sprinting for the line in the c/d bunch!
  23. DL for me!
  24. There is Physios at Intercare in Little Falls (other side of the hill), but they also have a practise in Krugersdorp as far as I know. Ladies named Susan and Sandra.
