  1. Dunno about road but there is a MTB ride at 6am.
  2. Yup, also think the blockhouse was well organised, they did however also start very late. scotty2009-10-01 22:41:24
  3. Me too, the Lions play the Sharkies in their own fish tank and have a good outside chance of making semi's.
  4. Yeah also the matter of transporting riders back that have been stopped. On a road race you either return by truck which will be difficult in a mtb race or your own steam which is will be dangerous and irresponsible to allow.
  5. Point 7 will be interesting to see how its implemented.
  6. [quote name=Spinnekop Then no one license and everyone rides Open. Pro riders by virtue of being pro will be forced to ride pro' date=' prize money should not be an issue but prestige should be. Prize money in any case is divided between the team which make it minimal in any case. Brings us back to the seeding of ability and not if you license or not....... Al-innie-rondte........ Pro Lic category Division A - Top 200 cyclists Division B - 201-400 Division C - 401-600 etc. etc. etc. Agree You want prize money?.....work your way up to Div A and race for a win.... You want to be a paid pro, work your way up to DivA and race for a win and PRIZE MONEY Then go onto Pro Lic category For that to work, you have to have a TRUE national seeding ladder that WORKS and gets UPDATED by a CENTRAL BODY - CSA?. Agreed You can then hold tours and races based on Divisions....you don't want the "pros"......then do a race for Division B and C.....prize money etc. Agreed [/quote]
  7. Pro rider's (they get a salary and make up a small % of the riders) 1st R1000 plus a big trophy 2nd R500 plus a medium trophy 3rd R200 plus a small trophy Open cat (make up most of riders) 1st R10 000 2nd R5000 3rd R2500 4th R1000 5th R500 6th - 20th (entry fee refunded)
  8. Reminds me of a few years back, i was riding and stopped at a traffic light when an oom in a battered bakkie pulls up next to me and starts ranting at me about a group of cyclists he had come across earlier taking up the road and not adhering to road rules, i was quite taken aback and all i could say was "sorry oom" and "askie's oom", once he got that off his chest he calmed down and wished me an enjoyable ride further. Of course i could have gotten all defensive and angry and told him to make a sexual departure which appears to be a usual cyclist response but then he would have continued to think that all cyclists are the same, whereas now he realized that we cannot all be lumped together.

    ST vs. HT

    Soft tail
  10. If indeed they did run out of water it is inexcusable, this race was organised by people that have organised races before so they should have known and planned for such cases, never mind a learning curve. If a race such as the Kempton Park one which was organsied by a local school can get it right why cant they.
  11. I think its a good thing, the silly dress code has been selectively enforced with rules around arm and leg warmers. As for sponsorship clubs will want to ensure that their members stick to riding in sponsored kit to keep sponsorship, it will be stupid for any club to keep sponsoring a rider if he does not ride in the sponsored kit.
  12. CSA will not longer police, its up to clubs.
  13. Pathetic if true,
  14. Except for a bit of rub which the LBS sorted out i've had no issues so far with my juicy 3's,
  15. I was chatting to a new guy who joined our company last week and he bought a road bike about 3 weeks ago. So far he has bought cycle kit, glasses, cycle computer, bike tools and stripped and reassembled his bike but has yet to actually ride it.
  16. LoL Dynamite, as mentioned riding with cleats does take getting used to, practice clipping and unclipping by leaning agaist a wall, i've never had a fall. I rode for 2 years with toe clips (uncool) before buying a pair MTB pedals and fitting them on my road bike ( roadie uncool) and rode a few more years before getting road pedals.
  17. You must be a roadie
  18. Ride whatever you comfortable in.
  19. I kept getting emails addressed as Scotty Sinclair of Witbank telling me i'd won cash prizes in vairious lotteries and lucky draws. At 1st i ignored them and just deleted them but they kept on comming. Evetually i replied in mix Afrikaans , sotho, zulu and put my name down as Gib Macs. Have not received an email since.
  20. I have the same thing happen with my 305 unit where it switches off mid ride. Took it to Avnic and all they did was clear the memory and give it back saying its fixed but it still occurs. It must be the vibrations as it does not cut out when used on my indoor trainer.
  21. traitor TUBE CONVERSION kit, converts tyres from clueless tubeless to tube.
  22. Tube conversion kit.
  23. You inserting some fizz and pop into this thread? Something like that but looks like its peaked now in which case i guess i could always slip away early.
