  1. Thanks Delgado would be a pity to loose the only safe place remaining to do any hill training.
  2. My sister in law's company has this thing where they get taken out to lunch and treated every friday 13th. Mine just give me more work.
  3. Can't claim to have noticed gel or bar sweet wrappers there, can however claim to have seen official's driving down the wrong way then getting po when asked why (waterbottle can attest to this), glass bottles remain's on the tar, aftermath of a picnic site trashed by groups in cars. We as cyclists can do our bit but officials and vehicle drivers also need to do theirs
  4. I suppose i could protest that the local law enforcement are not upholding cyclists rights.
  5. This was posted on another thread' date=' and got me thinking. What good would a protest ride do? Is that really the way to go about getting your rights as a cyclist protected? I mean as a road user, tax payer, a cyclist has legal rights to road usage. Is a protest ride going to get these rights protected? I spend a lot of time on some American motorcycle forums, and there is a lot of new legislation being passed there that is restriction off road users access to trails. Now the democratic tradition there is to speak to your local lobby groups, and then your state representatives. It bears fruit. Action is taken at law making level. Seems to me that South Africa's democratic culture is to protest. Why are we not advocating speaking to our local councilmen, our provincial legislatures, our duly elected parliamentarians? How are we going to change the democratic culture in this country? [/quote'] Passing legislation is the easy part, adherence and enforcement is the difficult part.
  6. he was kinda forced to. And would never admitted to it if not found out.
  7. Duarte got her lic yet ? While she was MEC for safety and security she would often drive official gvt cars without a valid lic. Justified this by saying she was usually in a hurry and could not wait for her driver and no action taken against her.
  8. Shorts for me, i have 2 pairs of bibs but find them uncomfortable, and yes Santini make excellent shorts.
  9. One would assume criminal charges will now be levelled, the ANC will claim this is a political trial due to the timing and go on the offensive, more tripe for Malema to utter.
  10. What happened to all the posts on this thread
  11. LG not on your list, only ever had a pair and am very happy, nice broad instep where as some of the other i tried are a bit narrow for my flat feet.
  12. Always ??
  13. Havent had the need for support vehicles as there is enough to eat and drink at the stops, but if a must then they should leave before the 1st stage group starts as leaving after will require them to navigate past riders.
  14. Nice kit as well, easy to spot when chasing
  15. Have a look at the delphi blackburn, i had the delphi 5.0 which had HR and cadence, cost is very comparable to other makes. http://www.delphicyclometers.com/home.htmlscotty2009-02-11 04:39:57
  16. Saw a few photographers along the way so i'm sure there must be.
  17. Take a canoe along.
  18. Women cyclists are far more likely to be killed by a lorry because, unlike men, they tend to obey red lights and wait at junctions in the driver?s blind spot, according to a study. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article1695668.ece I tend to follow the same system as S2L, when i approach a intersection with a red stop light but thats quite with only a few cars but none crossing in front then i cautiosly ride over, however if there are plenty of cars i trend to stop even if there are no cars crossing in front of me.
  19. My gf complains about that in Greenside and through Illovo. Although it is a double lane' date=' they should still be MAX 2 abreast and not take up the whole lane. [/quote'] Send her to Kempton park... There is one section of dual carriageway, and I've seen the TDF bunch take up both lanes and the yellow lane No
  20. Would BoB agree though talking about bob' date=' who's taken care of "business" with wendy these days?[/quote'] Would she also agree with BigH and TNT
  21. Would BoB agree though
  22. Unfortunate but yes.
  23. Which is why i like doing the local church bazaar races, they usually inlcude a boerie roll and coke in the price.
  24. Not sure allowing an option on the entry form is an option as it will require extra admin, you will need to keep a record of wants and dont wants as there will always be chancers trying their luck. What is the actual cost of medals as opposed to other expenses such as traffic control, timing costs, prize money etc.
