  1. Saw a few remains of earlier crashes on the route, then while eating my usual post ride recovery meal of boerrie roll and beer i saw one rider come down hard against the metal barrier when the guy in front sprinting for position 9999 switched his wheel.
  2. Looks like the top L bunch riders all had issues with cyclists riding wide then forcing themselves in whereas i rode the 62km with one can assume less "experienced" and our bunch was never more than 2 riding aside, it was only when falling back from pacing or moving up that there were times it was 3/4 but then only after ensuring road was clear behind and ahead and never crossing the white line to do so.
  3. The organization is done by Springs Wheelers,
  4. When will seeding and start times be advised.
  5. Did the 62km, no issues with marshaling and thought it was well managed except for the cones which i agree was not ideal. Regards the merging of short and long this is inevitable in majority races, road and MTB where there are different distances and the orgs of the R4S tried to reduce this by making the 62km an out and back so it was only the stretch off North Boundry leading onto Barry Marais then Jubilee road. A few years back the merge happened on the R23 already. Nice to see a Boksburg boytjie win the elites.

  10. Not highly technical mmm But will give it a bash.
  11. Those tandems, sub vets and vets etc will quickly swallow up the ladies then there is the issue of the race orgs trying to separate them.
  12. Critical mass style.
  13. I took my Moda in for a service in the morning and thought nothing of it when they said it will take a few days before i could collect as i thought they were busy. Imagine my surprise when they wheeled out the Mercury when i went to collect.
  14. Could be either FL group or the BP garage group, both head out that way on a regular basis.
  15. No complaints about Silverback from me. I bought a Moda Nine which had a few issues with some frames. Even though there was no problems with mine my LBS arranged with Silverback to replace it with a Mercury frame.
  16. Do the following, although the screen asks for ID or Chip only type in only your chip number and not your ID. That sorted me out.
  17. Yeah Gerald, i phoned them. Apparently if you have more than 1 CC chip their system does not like it but its sorted now.
  18. Having fun and games trying to enter, Champion reg site asks for my id and chip number, enter the chip number which i looked up using their look up option on their site and when i input it on the reg page it tells me there is no such number. I can even update my details on the site but not reg for a race
  19. I velcro strap mine to my ankle, never had an issue but I see some guys fit it with cable ties to their bike with a bit of rubber between the chip and frame.
  20. Rather not, i take his word for it.
  21. Gonna try my luck in the MTB batch.
  22. Some races like Serengeti, Emperor's have MTB sat and Road Sun, the exception is Sun City who have road sat and MTB sun.
  23. Few years back there was a race in Edenvale, i was seeded BL and we caught the ladies about half way into the race and as we were overtaking them someone chirped about "boep pens ooms and tannies catching them" next thing they they put foot and left us eating their dirt.
  24. Entered for the 62km which i will do on my knobbly tire MTB,
