  1. I dont ride fast enough to need a rear brake that badly
  2. Have a 105 brake caliper that is badly bent. The bit that the shoe bolts onto is twisted. Now what I need to know is if this thing is going to break when I bend it straight? I get this bad feeling..... Should I anneal the alumimium a bit before I bend it? Should I heat it a bit or should I bend it cold? It's a fairly "big" bend to get it straight! Ideas?
  3. I am sure it will work - the brazing may be an issue. I do a fair amount of brazing in my trade, but have not brazed any bikes. It's not generally not difficult. All I can say is that you must have enough heat available and everything needs to fit nice and snug. Its fairly easy to "sweat" things together with braze but its a bit harder to fill. Get someone who has done it before? Let us know how it goes - I would also like to give it a bash
  4. Thanks. Had a look at GTracing's site - there are actually a fair number of pugs. Great site BTW. Some real "art" to be seen
  5. Thanks. Dont see too many Pugs though...
  6. Bumped into an oldish, lugged pug frame today. Although I'm told that it's made out of galvanised water pipe (Carbolite 101) it's pretty light actually - for water pipe First thing I notice were the lekker horizontal drop outs - got me thinking about building a fixie? I know zip about fixies - Couple of questions - Anyone used a pug for this? I will probably powder coat it, but would like to get rid of the braze on's that I dont need. I assume that they are braze off but then I am going to be left with holes? Maybe just leave the stuff on?

    Sure Death

Rather go up - with a Montessa
  8. I think that we would all be surprised to know exactly who actually gets their frames from China and Taiwan. I suspect that my Bachi is from Taiwan. Nothing wrong with Taiwan in general.
  9. Well spotted - doesnt look very Italian though?
  10. Sheldon Brown does not know about it and Google hit a blank? Sure you spelt it correctly? I also have an "orphan" frame - called a "Bachi". Not Italian, possibly jap or taiwanese? Cant find any info on it, but what a nice frame! Big bike, bit heavy but a real joy to ride. Worth only the components I suspect....
  11. Na - locals are disqualified. You have to ID it from the pic
  12. Prize for the oke who can ID the little red two stroke with the union jack on the side cover!
  13. JB - please PM your postal address to me. I would like to post you a chromed (poorly) bolt that has been cold blued. Looks quite cool - no brown.
  14. That is good news. Used to frequent grapes many years ago. I walls could talk.......
  15. Did your plumber pitch eventually?
  16. Ha Ha. I have a really hot torch I could lend you! If you dont like the heat.... Seriously - dont touch anything until you know whats bent!
  17. Thanks - yes - I was thinking of using the parts and flogging the frame to an unsuspecting hubber for R1k
  18. Sorry - I was impolite. You do have a small point though - It does nothing to chrome.
  19. So? Steel is what is rusting! The rusty bits turn a nice blue colour - whats your point? WHO mentioned NON ferrous?? It's not going to rust is it?
  20. Has anyone actually owned & ridden one?
  21. Quite a bit under 1k actually.
  22. Bumped into a reasonable bike - Avalanche Stratus. Sora kit, but I cant say that any of the other bits ring too many bells. Can anybody tell me a bit about this bike. I presume it's very entry level, but it really looks OK to me. Bear in mind that most of my bikes were made before many of the hubbers were born
  23. I would give it a good home but not too sure about the "deserving". Let me know if you sell any. My wife and I are a bit short of kit....
  24. I like the idea. Use a bit of bees wax if you want - it sticks like sh@@. Heat the allen key - it's worth the extra effort.
  25. If the rust bugs you get some cold "gun blue" from a gunsmith/gun shop. It "blues" the rusty bit by chemical reaction. Tends not to rust after that.
