  1. With CPT being so close to the Cape flats I would have assumed they are more used to just removing the wheels and leaving the aircraft supported on a few bricks and they are not used to putting wheels back on.
  2. LWB. I see SA 264 to MUC was cancelled. Was it a technical issue? Would have been ZS-SXE.
  3. I would assume that JHB is better equiped and also to fly in spares you would have more possibilities. Also normally the "heavies" need to burn some fuel before landing and they can just as well burn it on the way to ORT.
  4. Based on fairly recent experience with family that came to visit us I think it still applies.
  5. On my bucketlist. Hope to visit Hamburg this year specifically for this.
  6. Oooo can I ask the first question? Do you get tought to talk so quickly in code? I do listen often to conversations between aircraft and ATC and I am always amazed about the speed that the quys talk and am not sure who I am admiring the most, the person talking or the person listening and actually hearing what was said.
  7. He does not have a wife, gf, children and does not ride a bike.
  8. Can you remember the brands (Gemin, JC Wings, Herpa)?
  9. So it is that time of the year where my wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday. Quite a few years ago my wife bought me a cast iron model of an Swiss A340 which parks here in front of my computer and looks pretty nice. So I got the idea of maybe collecting a few of these nice looking models, concentrating on the aircraft and hopefully the airline of the aircraft I have flown in before at some point in time. So she bought me this weekend a model of the Lufthansa A380. This specific model was pretty pricey but bloody good detail (manufactured by Gemini Jets). I noticed that althoug the Swiss is good looking model, the new Lufthansa is leaps better wrt to detail. This brings me to my question to you. Are there any of you out there that have some of these cast iron models and what brands would you recommend to look at?
  10. The plane you selected and am viewing is red. Don't see a security risk at the moment. There is currently so much crap going on in SA, taking down the head of state is not really gonna change much
  11. I think it was last week a new due date was given. September or something 2020.
  12. And propably the Berlin Airport
  13. And about 30 minutes later there will be a "plakkers huisie" in Alex with a rather impressive "afdakkie"
  14. Don't come here with your racist colonial logic. This is Africa But you are 1000% correct.
  15. Minatur Wunderland in Hamburg. It is on my bucketlist and hope to go there by the latest next year. Well worth the visit and you propably will have to budget at least one day there as there is simply so much to see and they are still expanding. The amount of detail they put in is just mind blowing.
  16. 4 minutes of LAX. Good quality images. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8roOCwYNWek
  17. Sorry, the Magaliesberg prevent me from seeing it.
  18. From wikipedia .. De-icing fluids typically consist of a glycol-water solution containing a dye and agents to protect the metal surface. A range of glycols are employed. Thickeners are also used to help the deicing agent adhere to the airplane body.[2]:43 Ethylene glycol (EG) fluids are still in use for aircraft de-icing in some parts of the world because it has a lower operational use temperature (LOUT) than PG. However, PG is common because it is less toxic than ethylene glycol.[3]:2–29[4] Article is here ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De-icing
  19. Do you have the background story to the photo? Looks like brakes that overheated that might have caused the tires to have popped. Judging by the water around it I assume it was extinguished.
  20. Please make sure it works. My last flight on SAA to JHB the Monitors and controls between my seat and my daughters was swopped around. Bloody annoying.
  21. Someone must just mention it reminds them of the old SA flag and those seats will be changed promptly, even if it is just applying shoe polish to change it.
  22. Post of the day
  23. Just a panel but I am sure a few crapped themselves.
  24. I see. The old A300 looks a bit worn down now.
  25. Somewhere they got that pic of an old A300.
