  1. Saturday ride to Lake Kochel (Kochelsee) and Lake Walchen (Walchensee) Nice steady climb at about 5% for about 4 odd kilometers Walchensee Nice little road only used by hikers and cyclists. Sometimes used by forestry vehicles Bad Tölz, 20 km to go to home. The river you see is the Isar river, which flows past our home town of Geretsried, flows through Munich, joins the Danube at Regensburg which then follows through Vienna and eventually into the black sea.

    Who remembers?

We had one as well. But if I remember correctly it was a gift from our grandmother in Austria. So she bought it there and sent it to us. Do not recall that you could buy it in SA then but possibly you could.
  3. "A malfunction prevented the pilot from being automatically ejected too and he was able to land the plane on the runway despite the involuntary departure of his passenger and the loss of the cockpit canopy." Bloody lucky for the malfunction otherwise the jet would have been stuffed for no reason. Already it is an expensive oopsie this.
  4. So after a long day of home office, it was time to go on a sunset ride with the MTB and explore some dirt road in our area that I have never been on before. We had some cold and rainy weather that passed us on Monday evening and yesterday the ride was in 4 degrees much colder than the weekend. Some nice easy to ride dirt roads along canals and the Loisach river. Think I need to pass here with the wife. It is not technical at all and easy to ride Fresh snow on the mountains caught by some late afternoon sun
  5. Sir, Yes SIR!
  6. Welcome. When you are abroad where do you go? All over the world? Enjoy the riding.
  7. Well we are basically on the other side of the hill from you
  8. As Swissvan mentioned, we had absolutely brilliant weather the last couple of days and this over easter weekend. I sure made good use of it. On Good Friday, the Mrs and myself went on a relaxed ride with the mountain bikes in our area. Then on Saturday I went for my first 100 km ride this season. It was wonderfull. And then on Easter Monday just as some rain clouds started moving in did a quick 50 km ride. Wind was not so nice but what does not kill you makes you stronger they say ...
  9. Can't help but asking ... does have the oil leak feature with it?
  10. Hang in there. Soon you will.
  11. Cool tools here to see the difference... https://www.flightradar24.com/blog/then-and-now-visualizing-covid-19s-impact-on-air-traffic/?fbclid=IwAR1LLFvMv3WqqF45yTg26z45QUSdo2pCj6wG96EGNjSlFXyR2Jlf6iiWyv0
  12. Pretty awesome. We have summer temps all of a sudden and I go for a bike ride every afternoon at the moment. You should try it
  13. That is actually so funny
  14. Saw a documentery where they build the worlds largest canons. It never went into production luckily as the war ended before they could finish the project. But these canons had long barrels and would have been able to bomb most of Britain without sending a plane there.
  15. Where we live there are normal planes all over the joint normally. On days where the humidity is very high the contrails become fairly excesive. Now there is nothing especially as the air is pretty dry at the moment. Took this pic on Sunday as my wife and I were out on the bikes. Worth stopping to take the picture as we don't see that often lately.
  16. Just Germans alone were roughly 12 000. There were beginning of the week 14 000 Germans in NZ. Every day Lufthansa sends a B747-8 and a A380 to NZ, refeulling in Bangkok.
  17. There were some very impressive inventions that luckily either did not go into full production or only got used in the war too late. Otherwise we all would have spoken German today
  18. Basically what you are saying is the Germans built a stealth bomber a couple of decades before the yanks
  19. I don't know. Looks odd. Normally the past couple of days a 340 or two will go to Cape Town to collect some Germans and take them back up but maybe this pilot does not want to.
  20. LWB ... what is the issue here?
  21. DJR .... if you are trying to make me jealous .... you are succeeding.
  22. SAA is currently flying Germans from Johannesburg and Cape Town up to Germany at the moment.
  23. I think LandRover owners tend to make more camp fires than other people as they tend to make camp fires while waiting for tow-in services to find them.
  24. I was assuming rapid decompression ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_of_useful_consciousness
