  1. I've been eyeing them for a long time now, and understand what everybody is mentioning above. My question is why they would make something worse? Not the marketing side of it, what did they have to gain by changing the design if it is not as good as the previous one? Makes one wonder.... Regarding the hope wheels, to get something that weigh close to the same as the shimano in Hope/ZTR costs quite a bit more. Post some examples please, I've been going over sets on CRC and everytime end up with something very expensive, or something heavier than my old XT's.
  2. What I don't understand is why shimano would change the hub if they did not think it is better than the old one? Don't they have engineers that design and test these according to requirements, and based on that they would've seen that this hubs are inferior? Why go through the hassle of designing new seal and hub mechanisms if it is not better? And why then put it on the two top of the range MTB wheels that shimano has to offer?
  3. Johan what is the difference between the SLX and XT hubs?
  4. I have a set of old XT's, think 2006, and I service the hubs on a regular basis. Are the spokes hard to get or impossible to get?
  5. I am considering buying a Shimano XT M775 wheelset, but have read some nasty comments on the rear hubs. Now at R2700 a set it is really cheap in comparison with what is available. So for the guys (and girls) out there that know a lot about wheels, please advise me on alternative products in the price range, or if you feel necessary just advise me not to buy these at all or to buy them fast. Thanks
  6. Joe Friel claims it is better to have it more to the arch of the foot, so much more for endurance rather than track or sprinting, http://www.trainingbible.com/joesblog/2007/01/cleat-position.html I have always been riding with ball of foot on axle but it's interesting to see what your thoughts are on this toppic.
  7. I've been reading up on cleat placement and see a lot of people saying you should put the cleat as far back as possible, although the standard is ball of foot over pedal spindle, what are your thoughts on this?
  8. Smooth on smooth with some decent sticky to it should be fine. I put mine on the shoe, looks like it will do the job. If you stick it to the cleat you will scratch the carbon and need new sticky each time you replace the cleats...
  9. I understand that you stick it to the cleat shoe between the cleat and shoe?
  10. What year models are these? Is the Ergo 2 the Carbon Lite soles?
  11. I am interested in the Sidi Laser Vernice, will they be joining this list soon?
  12. Thanks for the info, so I took the trip to fit them on, and they are quite snug, I have wide feet. Do they wear in a bit or will they stay like this? I read somewhere you had Specialized shoes, how do they compare to these regarding width and fit?
  13. I am looking at new road shoes, and the Sidi Laser Vernice looks like a good deal for my budget. Any hubbers own these? Anybody with input on quality, flex and all the things related to shoes? Any guidance will be appreciated. Thanks
  14. My 2nd, last year was my first @ 3:29 from K
  15. My Mountain Kings did not last very long at all... I will be trying something else now since my rear tyre looks like a slick after the sabie.
  16. I was having a chat with a friend today about bike transport. So we wanted to know which is better - towbar rack or flatbed trailer? I would like to know what my fellow hubbers think about the two regarding safety, drag, fuel consumption and so on? I can't find any stats on this using google, does anyone have experience with both or some data to make some conclussions to which is best? Thanks
  17. Should've seen the grin on a number of Dogma owners as I dropped them on the road today, with my old alu Raleigh.
  18. I heard somewhere the spokes are very expensive, can someone confirm this? I have an old set and a friend with wheels with those hubs, they seem to be pretty good. Ease of service depends on your skills, but they are plain forward and should be easy enough to service if you know what you doing, no tricks. And on the bearing spacing, don't put in another bearing ball.
  19. There are two main types of vitamins nl. water soluble and fat soluble. Water soluble vitamins can not be stored by the body so if your body can not use all of it it is simply excreted, hence the colour of ur urine. These are mainly your B vitamins and vitamin C, and so other vitamins that will make the list long. However fat soluble vitamins like vitamins A,D,e and K can not be excreted like the water soluble vitamins but should not pose a danger if used in a moderate amount. I work at a pharmacy and see a lot of people overdosing everyday, overdosing on vitamins is the least of your worries. Read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin
  20. Group C this year, up from VV last year

  22. Also no socks for me....now I have to walk barefeet till the 94.7
  23. The only pain I had with the bunch (not only the Standard Bank guys) was at the end. Why go for a sprint? That was a bit dangerous and a guy in front of me nearly lost control with everybody behind shouting "Hold your line!". I see no reason in sprinting for 300th and so on. For the rest I think it was normal racing and nothing serious to moan about.
  24. The fact that you always see people joking when the Bulls lose just shows how good they are, just admit they are a great team. You can't always win.
