  1. I honestly answered a question posed to me, and I stand by my answer, do not make assumptions. Fact is it does not have anything to do with the topic that was being discussed. Doesn't make a difference what my abilities are compared to anybody else. This is derailing the thread, I suggest we leave it here.
  2. Lesson learnt. First state your bio before having an opinion. At least you got 1 out of 3 right - In current RSA that is seen as a Pass, well done.
  3. May I ask why you feel the need to get personal when a general topic is being discussed?
  4. As I said earlier, I was stating the facts on the topic at hand. I do not think we need to elaborate any further on my personal abilities.
  5. Yeah, I doubt it was deliberate.
  6. Yip. The faster times is for a gent I would assume is her husband. His strava times correlates with those on racetec.
  7. She was seeded in %. We decided to ride together, and as per the rules dropped back to B. And no, I don't think she would have stayed with the A batch. I sense this is starting to get personal, where I was only stating the facts.
  8. I rode in B with my wife
  9. I guess so. Looking at this year's 947, there were 3 women in the A batch, placed 221,231,269 out of 290. Berge en Dale in my opinion is a small race, this year two ladies made it in the A bunch. The one is an elite athlete for years (she came 3rd in the 947 this year). The other one lost touch with the group about halfway. yeah, I think I'll drop Ashley on the short steep stuff, not on the long climbs no. Just a note: The results places a lady in the A batch at 2h37m25s, that was not a lady.
  10. I would say the nature of the climbs would benefit male athletes more, they are short and punchy climbs where it will be difficult for women to stay with the A batch accelerations. I am not referring to the part of the A batch that rides slower than the front of the B batch in my reasoning. I am referring to this and previous years' 947 results. Edit: But I still believe if their seeding is good enough they should be allowed to ride there, as per my original post.
  11. While there may be many races where they will, I still believe they will not in the 947 due to the profile of the route. Past results confirm this.
  12. To be honest I do not think they can hold the pace of the A batch at all, but yes I do agree if their seeding puts them in A they should be allowed to race there.
  13. I see the overall women best time is a lady in A, who actually has two results. Upon investigation I found that the faster time is that of her husband, same with the mtb event last weekend. Do I email racetec to fix this?
  14. Yeah, we had to start in D last year as my wife wanted to drop back from % and the rules on the website stated no women in A-C. To my surprise I saw women in C, when I enquired about that I was told it is old rules that needs to be taken off. The new rules state that any rider may drop down from their group, but only to B downwards. Makes me wonder if any women were seeded in A to start of with.
  15. I also noted some riders with numbers on their backs not belonging to them....do they get disqualified? I passed a guy with an A batch number named Quinton on his back entering Kyalami, just to see it is actually a young lady named Chantè (some strava stalking).
  16. The only time that matters is the one when you go over the finish line....
  17. As far as I understand the racetec time has already been adjusted.
  18. Did a 2h47 with my wife in D last year, we did a 2h33 from B at the Tshwane Classic last year. If you are fit enough to stay with the bunch the first halve of the route I would think a sub 3 is possible.
  19. Exactly what I thought based on times I saw on strava. One issue though, the loop over Tom Jenkins would have been a lot slower than the rest of the route. I don't think they adjusted for this. Not that I care, just an observation.
  20. We had a rider going down very hard in VA at the intersection by the Sasol garage, I assume it was him. He fell really hard on his head. I am not sure what caused the accident. I would also like to know if anybody could give us an update on this?
  21. Really enjoyed the race, first road stage race for me and first stage race for my wife. Will be back for more.
  22. Team Vitality question My wife and I joined team vitality, with the aim to use this to register for CSA licences. I am currently trying to apply for a license on the CSA website, but can not find the Team Vitality Club under the clubs listed. Any advice on this? I am also not sure how the kit is delivered or obtained, I applied online and did payment, but nowhere did the application ask for sizing and explain how the kit will be obtained? Thanks in advance.
  23. Reviving an old thread: Going to Sabie this weekend, any updates on the safety and road conditions for road cycling around Sabie, Graskop and Hazyview?
  24. Does this mean the seeding system is biased?
  25. I'll join #RhinoFriday
