  1. The Break - rolling resistance not only caused by presure but a tubby has a more perfect circular form to it reducing rolling resistance!
  2. probably nothing but a hell of a lot for both!
  3. The votes were counted and it done and dusted for the greater good of cycling in RSA PPA will stay in CSA. Thanks for al those who came.
  4. As for the Hill Climb record David has - It is only a few secounds faster ( 1 or 2 if my memory is correct) than Michael Andersons time. BUT David did his time on a shorter course (about 200m) the hill climb use to start at the bottom parking and opposite the school!
  5. Referring to the comment Icycling on his EDGE Cant wait till I get my new bike - hopefully before the ACT. On the current frame it is unlikely I will be able to get my 18th sub 3 hour ACT. That frame has similar performance qualities of my old DHC ( commonly call daddies homemade crap) in the mid eighties! I should have realised that the frame was no good when I noticed the large run in the paint. Those frames come from the same supplier as the old Victoria Titanium came from in the 90ties and enough of the Victoria's broke. The supplier still has no quality control - that became quite obvious when the sent me a 2nd frame (replacement) and the lugs for the rear break cables were never fitted.
  6. Rolling road closure? For whihc group. Just the Elites? or the vets, juniors ladies and whole funride? after all the entry is the same on the day for all!
  7. I have not done 1 league race this season or funride except the 99 - a bit more road control and a ride I was paid to start! I ride killarny and I was more than willing to start the TDB this past week - an fantastic event. 1 of my new year resolutions was not to ride events unless their was proper road control. PPA rules are clear stay left of the white line at all time - that is to try and form a habit if some PPA ride you can ride where you want to and other you cannot imagine the confusion! SSubs rides each weekend would stop if PPA tried to get roling road closure! Remember also unlike TDB where their was 1 bunch of racing cyclist PPA leagues have several which would all want the same thins - not to mention the funrider! Funride should not be races - but rather events like the TDB should happen more often for the racing cyclist in the country - CSA I hope you can try and somehow find way of getting more people like Lem to organise events of this nature and then the standard of SA cycling will improve - I believe the budget for the event was almost zero so it can be done! PPA league could soon go CSA here the opportunity for you to step in and organise races. Cyclist - racing one - speak with your actions if the PPA "races" are not safe dont ride - ride Killarny - it is safe or events like the TDB - I have done that. Altenatively all cyclist obey the rules and dont go over the middle line - but this takes ALL RACERS, but it starts with yourself. I write this in my personnel capacity.
  8. With congress happening in Aprill and PPA still deciding whether they in or out of CSA. I dont think Carinus could have extended his contract till the end of next year.
  9. If I recall correctly they do have a weight restriction - but not 100% sure on what it is!
  10. I believe the new importer of Mavic has Rsys carbon spokes in stock. I have about 5 new Rsys wheel sets in stock which I am keen to move onto owner who will ride them. On the CWC site they are advertised at R9999.00. Pm me if you anyone is interested in making a realist offer.
  11. It called sh*tally for a reason!
  12. So now you know how the local importer of shoes feel - brings in say 500 pairs pays 30% plus 14% vat upfront on correct invoice and then sits on the tsock and hopes it will sell before the shoes have been replaced by a later version! Bad business!!! as he will always seem to miss the size needed!
  13. Ok it was 45% and droped to 30% back in about 97 - 2 of us took up this fight - at the time I imported cycling shoes - now I do not. But Azonic took the chance and paid the price you didn't as an official impoter and assuming the 30% still exists you always pay that price! I await the report back and maybe you got lucky!
  14. Suddenly maybe the shoes are not that expensive anymore in SA - blame the gov. not the local importer or shop! No comment on size.
  15. and when you take into consideration the 30% duty that cycling shoes carry?
  16. And Woolworths seems to be cheaper these days - just their french loaf is not as good! They also don't sponsor cycling like P 'n P do!
  17. Thank you Korbach - I suspect you have a PHD or a higher qualification - you right on the money! Unfortunately SA currently does not produce any bicycles and thus cannot explot this sytem directly - I beleive this will change very quickly! After all we already producing high end carbon bicycle wheels for export. But once again if I still have anything to do with it it will be through your LBS - they are so important in the chain in keeping the sport alive a whole in RSA!
  18. but he writes in English!!!
  19. After a week who will stand in that Q with more than 10items - consideration!
  20. How do you guy feel about this Q? Would you ever stand in it with more than10 item - ie their a Q and you not alone in the store? would ever say anything to somebody in front or behind you with more than 10 item? Should Pick 'n Pay have a cut off on the till at 10 items? Just some question for you guys and I am quite keen to here your view - I know what my views are.
  21. I don't notice a date on what appears to be a fax. It may have been faxed weeks ago or it may have been faxed today and their may not have been an overdue account or an account may have been settle yesterday evening or this morning - you and I will never know and as pointed out is none of our business. But I am sure Chris would like to keep this topic going as long as possible and post were dropping off and I am sure by creating as mentioned above a soap opera which may require pop corn new life has been created. My post to date on this topic I feel have not been directed directly at Chris personally / business but rather on strategies, markets, economics and how this may effect the sport of cycling in SA if the number of cycle store outlet decline by what I feel may be as high as 75%.
  22. I may have the Mavic items you looking for in stock! PM me please.
  23. Because I and a Carbon engineer - that where my skills lie. From building Lotus bike back in the 90's to now builder carbon wheels for export. That what my education is!
  24. The problem is most of i.e. 75% of the LBS do not have the capital to do this and actually the impotors would servive by going direct to the public and not the LBS as mentioned above the Levi, Reebok store etc now we may have a Shimano, Champy shop etc! But my qustion is still will this be good for cycling and put more bums on bikes or will it implode the sport as I suspect?
