  1. Or tandem racing with blow up dolls on the back!
  2. Darren Lill ! and David could make a great combo if they put their diffrences aside!
  3. Voice over - now a coach! Ok, not really getting it.
  4. I can only agree with Velouria - with kind of ratio of cyclist to back up team we can only assume NOSCA beleive we will bring back gold medals! Let hope the riders do. Maybe their is of course something I am missing - who is Leon Schepers anyway? Are any of the team coach by him currently?
  5. Cotton not even any of the pro peloton in Europe / Tour de France are sponsored with lightweight wheels! It the same for all you all have to pay lightweights!
  6. Nice wheels! But it look like he is explaining slip streaming in a cross wind and cutter on the left!
  7. also depends on your riding style - if you like to spin or if you are a junior with restricted gears then 172.5mm are great. If you like to use big gears then go 175mm or even 177.5mm
  8. Pearl Grace SL Look at www.pearl-cycles. com
  9. Let me 1st say probably the most abused items for increased performance are energy drinks / gels. I still use Ice tea found at Pick 'n Pay! Still did 2h54 in ACT this year with a puncture form A group! At a professional level it may as well be free for all. But I would suggest then that riders riding in the Olympics must not be pro's and drug free! This is how it was in the 80's Always remember the test will be behind the drug - you can only test for something if you know what you looking for! If it is not banned at the time is it illegal? So is it not like getting a speeding fine for doing a 100km/h in a zone which was marked 80km/h the previous week but now is marked 100Km/h? On the flip side their have been cyclist who were banned for drugs which were illegal at the time but now are off the banned list - should they be reinstated?
  10. Donkey - What happened last week - Giro a PPA event rolling road closure. Sunday - who care about rolling road closure let just close the M3 freeway for the whole morning while 35 000 cyclist pass not to mention the remaing 109km! Yes also a PPA event.
  11. I must admit when I saw the people their (retired or on pension) I took a bet with a fellow committee member that the vote would go the other way. How wrong I was!
  12. The Break - rolling resistance not only caused by presure but a tubby has a more perfect circular form to it reducing rolling resistance!
  13. probably nothing but a hell of a lot for both!
  14. The votes were counted and it done and dusted for the greater good of cycling in RSA PPA will stay in CSA. Thanks for al those who came.
  15. As for the Hill Climb record David has - It is only a few secounds faster ( 1 or 2 if my memory is correct) than Michael Andersons time. BUT David did his time on a shorter course (about 200m) the hill climb use to start at the bottom parking and opposite the school!
  16. Referring to the comment Icycling on his EDGE Cant wait till I get my new bike - hopefully before the ACT. On the current frame it is unlikely I will be able to get my 18th sub 3 hour ACT. That frame has similar performance qualities of my old DHC ( commonly call daddies homemade crap) in the mid eighties! I should have realised that the frame was no good when I noticed the large run in the paint. Those frames come from the same supplier as the old Victoria Titanium came from in the 90ties and enough of the Victoria's broke. The supplier still has no quality control - that became quite obvious when the sent me a 2nd frame (replacement) and the lugs for the rear break cables were never fitted.
  17. Rolling road closure? For whihc group. Just the Elites? or the vets, juniors ladies and whole funride? after all the entry is the same on the day for all!
  18. I have not done 1 league race this season or funride except the 99 - a bit more road control and a ride I was paid to start! I ride killarny and I was more than willing to start the TDB this past week - an fantastic event. 1 of my new year resolutions was not to ride events unless their was proper road control. PPA rules are clear stay left of the white line at all time - that is to try and form a habit if some PPA ride you can ride where you want to and other you cannot imagine the confusion! SSubs rides each weekend would stop if PPA tried to get roling road closure! Remember also unlike TDB where their was 1 bunch of racing cyclist PPA leagues have several which would all want the same thins - not to mention the funrider! Funride should not be races - but rather events like the TDB should happen more often for the racing cyclist in the country - CSA I hope you can try and somehow find way of getting more people like Lem to organise events of this nature and then the standard of SA cycling will improve - I believe the budget for the event was almost zero so it can be done! PPA league could soon go CSA here the opportunity for you to step in and organise races. Cyclist - racing one - speak with your actions if the PPA "races" are not safe dont ride - ride Killarny - it is safe or events like the TDB - I have done that. Altenatively all cyclist obey the rules and dont go over the middle line - but this takes ALL RACERS, but it starts with yourself. I write this in my personnel capacity.
  19. With congress happening in Aprill and PPA still deciding whether they in or out of CSA. I dont think Carinus could have extended his contract till the end of next year.
  20. If I recall correctly they do have a weight restriction - but not 100% sure on what it is!
  21. I believe the new importer of Mavic has Rsys carbon spokes in stock. I have about 5 new Rsys wheel sets in stock which I am keen to move onto owner who will ride them. On the CWC site they are advertised at R9999.00. Pm me if you anyone is interested in making a realist offer.
  22. It called sh*tally for a reason!
  23. So now you know how the local importer of shoes feel - brings in say 500 pairs pays 30% plus 14% vat upfront on correct invoice and then sits on the tsock and hopes it will sell before the shoes have been replaced by a later version! Bad business!!! as he will always seem to miss the size needed!
  24. Ok it was 45% and droped to 30% back in about 97 - 2 of us took up this fight - at the time I imported cycling shoes - now I do not. But Azonic took the chance and paid the price you didn't as an official impoter and assuming the 30% still exists you always pay that price! I await the report back and maybe you got lucky!
