  1. RIP Burry. Even though i didn't know you in person, you had (and always will have) a huge impact on my life. It is so sad and such a cliche that all the good guys die young!!!! Condolences to the family....my thoughts are with you!
  2. What does Victor Momsen have to say? Sounds like a problem with the rims, try and get them replaced...

  4. There were quite a few who overcooked some of the sharper corners from what I saw in A1 group, with quite a few hobbling back. Finished 2:37 after taking quite a big wrong turn just before the last river crossing, which probably cost about 4 - 5 mins. Hope to repeat that time on the road race.

  6. You probably fell on it somewhere along the line or knocked it on a rock. It is a disposable part, I don't think it is a design or manufacturing fault and neither will Shimano.
  7. brilliant Dude, thanks!!!
  8. If the goods are less than a year old when buying second hand, there should still be a receipt of the original purchase for guarantee purposes. I would guess anyone buying a garmin from a retailer would keep the receipt in a bottom drawer if it was a legit purchase in the first place.
  9. USN epic pro...500 ml per hour
  10. Also consider going 2 x 10 on the 29'er....Compact is also the way to go!!!
  11. That's like doing the cape epic in 2 days..
  12. http://www.thesportsbasement.co.za/cycling/browse/21-shoes?sef=hc They should have a shoe for you - go try some on... I would go with the M520 pedal. you should get plastic platforms that clip in should you wish to ride with takkies
  13. Leave it noisy. It will force you to pedal more!
  14. conti-protections
  15. if you can find any to buy!!! - I'm running the tubeless ready race kings on my 29'er. you need to bomb them on to get them to inflate, but once sealed they hold air fine.
  16. if you want to psyche up for any reason, go pay a visit to the local Post Office. I guarantee you will come out of there more P.O'ed then when you arrived (no pun intended!). Also waiting for a couple of CRC parcels send 3 weeks ago. the parcels sent registered at the same time have arrived although I had to queue for an hour to collect them.
  17. my thoughts exactly!! if you cant afford the 10K then wait until you can. I first went with a R3.5k model and was hugely disappointed. took it back and upgraded to a 10k model. over 500 cups later still no issues. my Jura rocks
  18. If you are looking for a good deal, my sis is selling her Yeti carbon full suspension. She is now getting her bikes sponsored, although the Yeti has served her very will till now. Funnily enough she is riding a specialized. PM me if you want some more details. the bike is a large.
  19. I'm trying this... http://www.cadencecycling.co.za/ will let you know in August whether it is any good.
  20. The problem was not the lack of (hidden) signage, but rather a very excited Marshall actually directing traffic onto the wrong route. With the Marshall in place I certainly wasn't trying to follow a hidden signboard.
  21. Sounds like you should spend more time on the bike learning to ride in a bunch and less time in the Gym...The thing about most bunch riding is that everyone in the bunch thinks they are the best in that particular bunch although they don't spend much time doing any work at the front. When another faster bunch comes past as in the case in most races, everyone in the slower bunch still feel fresh - because they have done no work - and feel they deserve to be in the faster bunch... thus there will always be chaos (this is why it is called a race and what adds to the fun). If you are too nervous while the new equilibrium is established then let the faster riders pass. You must know every single rider in the slower bunch will be trying to attach to the faster bunch. Your best option might otherwise be to start with the last group of the day and have a "relaxed ride". Try enter the Argus one year and ride in a bunch or 200+, I guarantee you will lose your nerve within a few mins of starting the race.
  22. Saw the accident as well - also riding the cradle....An accident like that was bound to happen because of the speed at which most of those bikers race through there. The bikers don't realise that the speed limit there is 60kph. I just hope he didn't take a cyclist with him. It must have been at least half an hour before the ambulance got there!!!
