  1. Nah, just if you are picking a country with bike heritage then Germany would not be my first choice.
  2. Granted. Not quite Italy or France though.
  3. Thanks for trying but it's easier to give up.
  4. Did you not read I own 4 bikes made in the east? Where did I say its abad thing? oh heck, I tried... ignore on
  5. and I claim this as a bad thing HOW EXACTLY.
  6. ARE YOU DRUNK? Show me my misconception? Spell it out? Highlight in my post where I rant about the east.
  7. You again, sigh. Please read my post Covie, and carefully before replying My Merida was made in Taiwan My Zaskar was made in Taiwan My Raleigh is made in China My Trek 9.9 was made in the USA
  8. I have to ask: are you retarded? Where do I rant about the east? My post was bout SB claiming to be german. You are either very stupid or very annoying or perhaps both.
  9. Here you agree with me completely... go figure.
  10. You again, sigh. Please read my post Covie, and carefully before replying My Merida was made in Taiwan My Zaskar was made in Taiwan My Raleigh is made in China My Trek 9.9 was made in the USA Nowhere did I have an issue with bikes made in the East. My post is about silverback letting go of their SA roots as if they are ashamed of being a South African company. Please do not antagonise me simply for the sake of it as i do not wish to put you on ignore. Ray
  11. Maybe he saved by getting a cheap phone? Just kidding but seriously dude you are almost as fanatical about this as the V man! I use both, really I do, and with no motives other than honesty I can tell you that phones suck at what a Garmin does. They do. Really. And the only arguments are from people who use their phones and DONT own a dedicated GPS. Like TNT and you. Less than 1 % of Garmin owners would use their phones by choice.
  12. Gave up on silverback when they gave up on the whole South African brand image. Momsen uses SA as a selling point even if their bikes come from the east. Instead Silverback have a collection of meaningless sound bites. What do Germans know about bikes anyway? They have Focus, made in the east and uh, well, silverback now. Proud tradition of cycling excellence.
  13. They are not immune, just sealed and rubber covered (at least my edge 500 is) so pretty dust and water resistant. They are also cheaper to replace than an iPhone - garmin trade in damaged units for a massive discount on a new one. Have you ever held an edge500? It's small, compact and can take a lot of abuse.
  14. You won't be alone. My brother and his mates will be on 26" wheels. No on the baggies though!
  15. I am an iPhone fanboy - love it. It's just nowhere as good as my garmin for cycling.
  16. Your phone cost more than your bike??? Maybe you should get a new one...
  17. So no kremetart or trans baviaans or just about any 70 km marathon then? I wouldn't be able to use it.
  18. You don't sweat enough!
  19. Nah, got my edge 500.
  20. In a sandwich bag no doubt.
  21. You type too fast. Okay but I need my heart rate ( got a heart issue ), speed, distance, ave speed are all usefull all the time. Only thing I don't need is post ride analysis so if the units not on my bars it may as well be at home.
  22. I don't insure my iPhone never broke or lost it. I have a 120 rand Nokia I ride with. How do you mount your phone?
  23. I have an edge 500 and an iPhone with cycling software. Always end up with the garmin and here is why: Garmin is water resistant pretty shock proof and cheaper to replace than my phone. Protective cases and heart rate monitors for iPhone are pretty expensive and more difficult to transfer between bikes as the edge 500 comes with 2 bike mounts and clip on and off easily. Battery life is 13 hours. Edge 500 is much smaller and lighter than my phone.
