  1. I will happily ride either!
  2. Now those are cool. Steel SIR 9 bikes are also cool.
  3. He he, no, I don't need you to define cool for me. It just happens. Don't need a set of rules, do or don'ts. My 26" Zaskar is cool. Will always be. To me.
  4. You try too hard.
  5. Thanks for the positive action River Rat. Both girls were indeed from Tzaneen Cycling. Dot is having an operation and will be off her bike for 6 weeks or so. It sucks but MTB is not for sissies.
  6. Thanks, I figured it was something like that. Didn't mind it myself but my wife and our friend Dorothy both fell with one damaged shoulder the result. Sure, she should have got her gear selection right so we aren't complaining just a bit bleak at the end result of an otherwise great race.
  7. Fantastic race, my whole family went through to ride. Climbs seemed longer than when I rode it two years ago, I am sure they tweaked the 45 as well as the 75 km, but that single track is truly awesome, well worth the sweat getting up! Can't agree with about the bridge though, I didn't see the point of putting an obstacle with 200 m to go and a friend of mine broke her shoulder on it. Good luck with your recovery DOT.
  8. 105 is much better than tiagra, it's were Shimano starts getting good.
  9. I heard Phil and his twin say that those bottles tossed during the Tour de France are picked up and collected by fans.
  10. Ha, I was going to call the OP a mean name too but I see you lot have taken it off my hands. Oh what the heck: "no, you are a pig!" I feel better now. Will someone please respond to the customer complaint thread as I am scared of what will happen if I give in to temptation.
  11. Ssssh, don't let Rabobank hear you, they may stop kicking Liquigas butt if they know they are ONLY riding Giants!
  12. Just bought a set of American Classic 420 aero wheels for 5900.00 and they are lighter (1500 gr) and faster than my aksiums. Could not find non aero wheels that are lighter for that price.
  13. I own both and there is no comparison. The zaskar is in another league altogether. It is a very responsive frame with quick handling.
  14. 105 pedals work well. They come with cleats and the way they hang nose up makes cleating in predictable. They aren't as flash as Look or Dura Ace but are only 50 grams heavier and if you work out the $ per gram...
  15. GPS units are 3D. Their triangulation allows them to calculate spatial orientation in all planes. My Edge 500 also has a an altimeter.
  16. Losing weight on your body makes a much bigger difference than on the bike. If there is less of you, even fat cells, there is less "body" to feed, keep oxygenated and move blood through. You become more efficient and a better thermo regulator as well as improving your power to weight ratio.
  17. Darn didn't notice the dates this thread was posted before replying... Sorry.
  18. I am a farmer and while you are welcome to ride on my property the BEE companies running claimed land very quickly put up fences. On the bright side, if all the farms are nationalized the soil erosion dongas will make for some awesome single track if you can get through all the hungry people first.
  19. Yes, and I wonder of those who truly believe this years Tour is NOT going to be a race of "runners up" will put their money on anyone but Berto winning the Vuelta.
  20. +1
  21. Sorry for the hijack but what happened to the Contador thread?
  22. Brian, I am not criticizing your point of view it is just that it is a little alien to the spirit of road racing and that is why your are getting flak here. Many of the fast ladies can hang with or beat many of the men so they aren't seen as weaker riders by themselves or the men (which is why I asked you if you beat all the gals). Secondly, hanging onto someone's wheel is a legal and valid race technique. Take a look at what happens if a Pro Tour rider is in a break away and in the same team as favourite. He will sit all day and hope for fresh run at the line if the break succeeds. It is up to those doing the work to shake them off, fall back or just ride their race and live with the leeches. I have had someone stuck on my wheel for a whole race and it was too much energy to lose him. He then was strong enough to out sprint me for the line. Fair? Maybe not. That's road racing. Ray
  23. Just out of interest, did you finish ahead of all the girls at that race?
  24. Ha ha, yeah I sometimes wish my wife was a little broader to block wind. Doesn't matter much as I can't stay on her wheel for long!
