Been thinking about his accident and the anniversary of his death so much. Was on my way to CTCT when I got news of his death. We’d stopped on the N1 just outside Worcester. Am dreading going past there again. Wierd how a place and time becomes a vessel for dark memories. Going there makes it feel as if it’s happening all over again. I miss Barry’s hub posts especially his insights into current events. And the chat about friends and places we had in common.

I'm bringing my own drinking/cooking water. Usually bring my own drinking water anyway. Then there is the sea... quite seriously, I will probably have only one short, sharp shower while I'm there and that water goes into my mother's grey water/water collection system to be reused. If I bring an extra 10 liters of water, I'll most likely be adding to the water supply, not taking anything away... We have our own nasty water challenges where I live (collapsing infrastructure plus drought plus non-existant municipality) so I'm used to living this way. Plus I was schooled thoroughly last time I visited CT. I can assure you all my friends entered for the CTCT have the same attitude. So don't panic, we're not coming to drink your last drop. Of water, that is. Watch the other supplies, I do have thirsty friends...

Same for me. Checked someone else’s entry yesterday because I was worried and same there too... I’m sure my entry was reflecting a couple months back though? Curious.

Question re navigation and Garmin... would an Edge 500 do the job? Or do you need something more sophisticated to deal with mapping?

This event is going to grow, no doubt about that, whether we think it's expensive or not. For some (like me) the entry fee is too much right now, but it's hitting a spot. I was looking at LEL a few years ago which sounds like a total blast, so does PBP. But much prefer the idea of the Munga. Solitude, space, heat, craziness, and everything else. I'd like to do both - tour and Munga - for different reasons. Meantime, it's incredibly inspiring following the Munga stories.

Shocking indeed. That is hectic! Please, when you can, take the issue further with SAPS station commander at least? That's not acceptable. I hate to say this, but the lack of response from officials especially when asked for immediate assistance is just asking for people to take the law into their own hands. Point being, without the, there is no law. Hope you recover fast!

Protests, fire and WIND! This wind is seriously hectic where I am in Pinelands and has been winding up since last night. My experience is it will only get worse. I've spoken to people who were at the start at 6.30-7 who don't scare easily but had a good fright cycling from where they parked.. Plus a few vids of people being blown around. So. I can't see how anyone might think it's going to get better. Or that the wind had nothing to do with cancelling the event. Would you like to take responsibility for that decision?

Am very sorry for you Belgian one! Hope you get some rides in while you here.If you do go, watch out for the gusts channeling down side roads. Especially if there's any traffic. But I'm sure you know that!
