  1. Not stupid. As it was mentioned you can finish. The question is at what speed will you ride. If I am correct Midstream Estate is somewhere around Midrand? You should go spend the day out in the Cradle and do 60-80km a few weeks before the 94.7. Just be realistic about what you want to do time wise. Try to carry enough liquid and gels or so with you to keep stopping at waterpoints to a minimum. That just kills your legs and makes it hard to get going again.
  2. And teach your kids that they must use violence to solve all their problems as well. The tonsils who swore at the little girl probably saw their fathers do what you described when they were kids and that is why they behaved in that manner.
  3. Sure, there are advantages and disadvantages to all. But if you going bigger than 26'er then you might as well go 29'er. And not all single track is perfect 26'er territory. Single track just takes practice. If you ride it enough you will know how your bike responds and can be quick on anything.

Problem is that I don't have deep sections and since it is mostly over 30kph it is up to Garfield to pull the whole of AL. You giving me the kilo back?

Cool. We probably going Friday around lunch time.
  6. My gf has just got a 29'er and she is quite short. Has no problems at all on it.
  7. I don't think that it is worth going slightly bigger than a 26'er. If you going bigger then you might as well go the whole way and get a 29'er. Otherwise you just getting a half benefit. I have a 26'er and last week I was very kindly given a 29'er as a present with my first proper ride yesterday. There is a big difference from my 26'er. So I think the better option is to just go for the 29'er (preferably) or 26'er and skip the 27.5/650b etc.

Nice! Great. Now we just need a few more people with Zipps and we can all fly to Durbs.

Haha. It will be a fun race. What group you in?

Prozac, Cyclewizz and Andydude - we can all sit on Garfield's wheel with his deep sections pulling us along and take a turn whenever it drops below 30kph (over 30kph and his aero advantage kicks in so he can pull us all along)! Then in last 500m we can fight it out.

It is worse than Fabian! It is Jens! I will gladly do my share of the work. As long as other do as well.
  14. Sounds great! If only it wasn't on the same day as Jacaranda.
  15. They only there because of the link with Racetec as far as I understand it. But according to PPA my group should be "B" yet I have raced in "A" for many years. So clearly Gauteng uses some sort of different seeding. There really should be a national seeding index like there was in the past. Perhaps SuperSport can do it again. Or maybe AG can take the old one over.
  16. Great read! Glad you are enjoying your riding. Can't wait for the next episode! ;-)
  17. That is good! We need some more well backed ladies teams in order to grow women's cycling.
  18. I didn't misinterpret anything. I know about the thumbtack story. But BigH saying that could just spark off some crazy disgruntled local to repeat his actions by planting the little seed in his twisted mind! Who knows who reads the forums. You will probably find that those who litter are inconsiderate in all aspects of their lives.
  19. As far as I know PPA only uses WC races. There is no national seeding index like there was before. Gauteng races just use the previous race results.
  20. Correct. The Audi was hijacked some time back and used by fake SAPS.
  21. While they were tjops for dropping the wrappers bringing back the thumbtacks is not a very good thing to say. The only people that get punctures from them will be the good cyclists.
  22. That isn't nice! But some people are like that and there is not much that you can do about it unfortunately. You will probably find that they are tjops in other areas of their lives as well and have similar attitudes while driving, in the shops, in restaurants etc.
  23. Like the Idaho Stop Law http://www.bikeleague.org/content/bike-law-university-idaho-stop
  24. Also, ALL cyclists then get group together. When the motorist tells their friends and family and it gets passed on it is not "some cyclists" it is "cyclists". The good gets grouped with the bad unfortunately.
  25. For legs and arms I just spray it on and then rub it around quickly. For face I spray a bit into my palm and then rub it on my face. But you have to be quick as it "dries" quite quickly. Works really well and sweat doesn't make it lose effectiveness like other sunblocks.
