You staying with me you twit! Unless you want to go stay on the beach? We will do a nice breakfast ride on the Saturday.
  5. When I was in Moscow I went to a place where all bikers meet up every evening with their friends. Nice bunch of people from what I saw. Our guide also said that they are mostly friendly and are like many other people who meet up after work with their friends. They just do so on their bikes. Btw: That building in the background is one of "Stalin's Cakes" and is part of the university in Moscow. http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/zynCXdM2mEo/maxresdefault.jpg
  6. Hey!! What you got against German sedans??
  7. You sure it isn't Caster working part time?
  8. That is catering for the "Casters". Survey done!
  9. Looks great! May you have many happy and safe miles on it!
  10. Gators are great for puncture resistance but you will feel like you are dragging a freight train. I took my bike in for service once and needed new tires. Bike shop put Gators on. One ride and I took them off. Use them on the trainer now. I had them on for ages and they never wore out. Recently the one delaminated of sorts. Put an old Continental Force on the trainer as a replacement and few rides it is showing some wear. Tyres, I would go for the Specialized ones. I also have a set of Armadillos. great for puncture resistance and comfort but without the freight train feeling of Gators.
  11. TimW - you can sort of do that with Strava. On the leaderboard select "my results". Then it lists all your efforts with the dates so you can track any improvements. Not graph but the info is there for you to see. TheMarketGuy - As others have said there are so many tracking apps and to compete against the Strava's, Endomondo's etc will be tough. An app listing all the races for all disciplines, places to ride and info on them for all disciplines (for example: Northern Farms and have the cost, info on the routes, distances etc), perhaps even notifications on safety (you can get info from the Hub and that Bicycle Safety Group on FB to start with and then let users update it and that sends alerts out). You could even have a section on shops and list the shops details. Maybe get the shops to pay a fee to be listed in the app. (You out on a ride and something happens to your bike you can then find the nearest shop. Integrate it with a map so your phone picks up your GPS position and then also shows the shops around you). So basically a complete information cycling app for SA.

Also in A batch. See you Hubbers there! Where you all staying? Using the last three allows for problems etc. If they used your last race and you had a puncture or mechanical then you would be back in such a low group and probably rant more that you in an even lower group. It also keeps everyone in a more of a stable average with less movement up and down the seeding groups. Some would drop due to problems in the last race and then ride in lower groups which are too slow for them while others would then be promoted and ride in groups which are too fast for them causing them to be dropped in the first few km.
  13. It was a great ride by Meintjies. A bit more road and he could've caught the Slovenian. Hopefully SA can continue to produce more young talent.
  14. What about the enjoyment of having a post-ride beer with friends? So now post ride drinks should be broccoli juice? Not much fun in that! If we all did everything that was 100% healthy then we would not enjoy very much of life.
  15. Oh ok. That is good then. The workshop actually needs a bit of a boost.
  16. Also look for some of Joe Friel's books. But do some reading to know what workouts improve what and how many of them you should do in a week. Then make up your own training program based on what you can do in a week. Be your own coach.
  17. I also heard that. From the man himself.
  18. Will there be an increase in entry cost as well?
  19. Metal fatigue, spoke tensions been out could possibly cause stress on the rim, hitting rocks/potholes etc. Friend of mine broke his MTB wheel on a little rock not long ago. Get all the angles and forces right and it breaks.
  20. I would also if she came with the machine!
  21. Nice bike!!! May you have many happy and safe miles!
  22. You will really have to ride down mountain passes all the time in the Alps or Pyrenees and hold you brakes the whole way down for it to wear down. You shouldn't really have any problems with the brake surface wearing out. I have had wheels for years and haven't had it wear enough that I need to thrown them out. Most of the time people get rid of wheels because they break.
  23. I agree with Lefty V. If you can get a higher spec full suspension then perhaps look more that that route. You can always add a 29 HT to your collection later for the same price. But try adding a full sus later and you will have to pay more. Of course the fit is very important so go on that.
  24. The giraffe doesn't look irritable to me. Looks like the two morons just got too close. People need to remember that they are wild animals and not some domestic pet. Keep your distance. If you dumb enough to disturb nature like that then you deserve to get your bike, or you, trampled on. If you try scratch a lion and it bites your arm off then don't cry because you were asking for it!
