  1. I don't know why they don't just take your best three results in the year preceding the race. If other races can get it right then I don't know why this one can't.
  2. Well good luck to you all! And to the brave ones like JCZA racing van Gaalens tomorrow and then Race for Victory on Sunday.
  3. I love riding and also enjoy racing. But I race to push and challenge myself to up my own performance. For me races give me the opportunity to push my own limits more than what just a ride can do.
  4. That is hectic Vetseun! Glad you are ok! Hope it doesn't happen again.
  5. With regular training you will soon manage a long race with ease. Then the goal will be to keep doing them faster and faster. Sure you will do great in the 54km as well!
  6. Thanks, but I have never needed it and they will probably move before I need to go there. @Waynehans, I have the 500 and never had problems. Have you updated the firmware? Many problems that Garmins have are fixed by doing software updates.
  7. Many would argue that is what draws them to cycling, the pain and effort. It certainly is not an easy sport and to do well requires lots of sacrifices and effort. That is what makes the rewards of completing a race/trail etc so much sweeter. You earn the beer you have afterwards.
  8. Don't look at route profiles. They are very distorted to how it actually is. A 20km section might go uphill but it is a gradual drag which on a route profile looks much worse. Just like the Carousel race in August. Feels fairly flat until you look at the GPS data after the race. And there are no really steep downhills. Nothing a new rider can't handle.
  9. You might just win it being the only one there. A free entry would be good, if I wasn't away for the weekend.
  10. Just keep riding them. They will always hurt but you learn to put up with the pain better as well as getting stronger so the pain lasts for a shorter time. With wind it is all about positioning in the bunch to take as much shelter from the wind as you can. That comes with experience and the more races you do the more you will gain experience.
  11. Glad you got such great service from them. I have never had any problems with any Garmin devices (sport and car navigation) and will because of this, and their great after sales service, I wouldn't really look at any other manufacturers. Their products are great and the support is there if there is a problem.
  12. Where the CAPS dipslick?
  13. If I remember correctly there is a bit. After the dirt section you turn right and then after the left turn there is a bit of a hill.
  14. Uphills are always a battle.
  15. Exactly. It might just be a better idea to focus on marketing the new event and let it be known that it is happening. Since we discussing it now and making people aware of it we should get our cut of the profits. How many Rand per rider should we ask for?
  16. Well I didn't even know about and still wouldn't know about it if you hadn't posted the link. Just looking at that route map gives me shivers remembering the road of the first 8km while going to the Trailseeker event in Cullinan.
  17. Thanks for the link. It looks like it could be judging from the images on the page. But then why raise the Jakaranda Satellite race issue yet again if they already have a new event instead of just moving on and focusing on the new event?
  18. Many commercial agreements have clauses about successors in title so the fact that you didn't have an agreement with ASG doesn't matter if Mr. de Villiers or his events company later gets bought by ASG or is somehow incorporated into ASG. The successors in title clause would provide for that and things would continue as they have for the duration of the agreement. Just with ASG substituted for Mr. de Villiers' events company. Would it not just be easier, and probably cheaper, for your club to organise your own new race? Especially if you say that financially it would be better. There are many other dates you could host it and if you brought something different to the cycle race market then it would attract riders without a problem.
  19. Luckily I go there early and manage to get a reseed from H to A. They certainly use a funny seeding system and only take the last three results. Sure it should be your top three from last year's race to this year's race. We need a new national seeding ladder. Or else this race needs to look at the whole event year's results.

    Argus 2014

Not this year it seems. Luckily I did mine on the 1st!
  21. Thanks! I was hoping it wouldn't be that weekend as I have family commitment out of town then. :-( But at least I can ride the trails anytime. ;-) After Shova I will get back out there.
  22. Looks fabulous! I must try get out there again. Did the first Magalies Adventure but haven't managed to get back there. Isn't there a 24 hour there in December?
  23. But it is still extremely stupid! Surely being an Argus seeding race they should at least look at Argus results. Seems like this is another race to start giving a miss. Especially since they have cut out the section in Suikerbosrand. If so many faster guys are in the lower groups you are going to end up with big bunches as they catch more and more slower guys who will just hang onto the back.
  24. I am also usually in A and got a HL for this. It is a complete mess up. So many people I know have got HL as well. Seems like 80% of the race is back in HL this year. Time for another national seeding system. This is actually the second race since August that seeding has been a mess up. Carousel also messed up seeding.
  25. I never knew 94.7 was a horse race. Where can I get a horse so close to race day? I think it will be Ashleigh's race.
