  1. After running a year with niggles and every running injury under the sun my physio recommends that I go for a proper analysis and maybe get orthotics from a podiatrist. In Bloemfontein we do have a runners lab, so Im sure they will do a proper job. Its just to get my head around the idea of running with inserts in my shoes. Is anyone running with orthotics and did it help for any injuries?
  2. I only run with Versus socks, even the thinner one is thicker than normal running socks.
  3. That was a little uncalled for. Ive changed between about 4 road shoe brands in 6 months and Im still not happy. And Ive asked plenty of annoying questions to everyone. If you don't want to help move on.
  4. I wish I got that kind of mileage out of my trail shoes. Got just over 300km on my R3000 pair of Salomon SLab Sense Ultras, and about 47km on the SG version. Luckily the latter were refunded. I changed to the Sense Pro 2 And Wings S Lab, hope they last longer.

  6. True, most of my runs are much slower than 5m/k. Im just referring to quicker 5km and 4km time trails, until Im 100% I'll just skip those.
  7. So I started running again after the stress reaction in my leg, took 8 weeks off. Sticking to less than 10km at slower than 5m/k with two days of rest after every run. Thats my Comrades then. Will build slowly to Skyrun and 4 peaks.
  8. I feel your pain. Im at almost two weeks of no running. Just be strong, even if the pain is gone you will undo everything with just one run. My fisio told me that I can start slowly again two weeks after I didn't notice any pain.
  9. If you can run a solid 10, no walking, then a 21 wont be a problem. Just break the second 10ks into 2x5km and you'll be done before you know it. But it will still hurt????
  10. This is the rumour. Would like to know why he got the discounted suspension.
  11. So his sponsor takes the riders word above the outcome of the hearing? Very dangerous stance.
  12. Some of the Dr posts were tongue in cheek. Obviously he cant be blamed. But the excuses these guys come up with are just mind blowing.
  13. Well he needs a bike to keep fit for the comeback.
  14. If you do trail running then I'll say the sapphire is the better option.
  15. This is all relevant IF the race Dr gave the rider in question the banned drugs...
  16. And surely, if true, this Dr must be barred from ever practising at any sport event again? Rule nr 1, know what is on the Wada list?
  17. The drugs administered by the race Dr was one of the points of contention during the hearing. Either there were no proof or it wasnt bought.
  18. Got a second opinion and confirmation of a stress fracture in my right tibia. Looks like a few weeks/months of no running.
  19. Well he still gets full support from his bike sponsor. Maybe they know something we dont.
  20. You must be a special kind of stupid to use Dexamethasone as a performance enhancing drug. It is an anti inflammatory, and the reason it is banned is because it prevents altitude sickness and can therefore enhance performance in for instance skyrunners. But it also causes atrophy of muscles in the long run.
  21. I tried the Adidas trail shoes, found them way to dead and heavy, really didnt like that Conti sole. That said Im thinking about giving the Boost 2 a go.
  22. Injuries this time of the year is just terrible, I planned a whole December of running, so far no running for 3 weeks. Will go for a slow jog today to assess.
  23. Glad it worked!
  24. Try doing a soft reset. Hold the light button until it restarts.
