  1. Great little machine. I have one and use it daily. Enjoy the learning curve if you came from a brand to cup machine or pods.
  2. I remember benefiting from approximately two weeks of free bus trips in Brisbane last year when there was a failed wage negotiation. I've not seen the buses as busy since.
  3. Treated the ‘dale to a new wheel set. With glass and debris not being a major factor in Brisbane, I went for tubular rims. Playing with fire maybe but it’s worth a try. Had the wheels built up this week and got to put them on the girl today. Lightbicycle 35mm rims, blades Sapim spikes if I remember and Novatec hub. Wheel set wo cassette, skewers and tubs was 1204g. Loaded up and ready for the bike, they are 2138g. That gives me a weight saving of 419g from my old wheels.
  4. On my mates page: I've had a look and you can see the "light blue" activity on the tile view. When you go to the list view, you can't see the workout. When you click on the activity in the tile view, you can't seem to edit it regarding load. The same applies to my page. I hope I'm not missing the obvious and causing a nuisance.
  5. Thanks David. That all makes sense. A mate here is using intervals.icu but doesn't use a HR based watch doing gym. How can he add load to a manually created workout? If possible.
  6. A question for those who have experience adding manual events. I want to add load from my gym strength and conditioning that I do twice per week. I add the manual entry and I can see it bump the fitness line up; marginally. However, when you look the day after the date of the manual activity, it doesn't show as a dark blue activity. You need to turn on the "show past planned workouts" and it's there. When I do record the activity on my watch, it shows up as an activity that happened but the assigned load is not what I planned. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
  7. Satellite images and animation give an idea. https://www.windy.com/-Satellite-satellite?satellite,-29.908,153.914,8 Use either the visible or infrared options, select the duration you want and then press play.
  8. I've made it a bit of a hobby recording local rainfall as BOM provides such information for free and is updated daily. The rainfall for the three years I've been in town show that 2019 has been drier than the previous two. On a percentile basis, we are currently in the 5th percentile. Which is a true reflection of exactly how dry it is; that 95% of the time, we'd have had more rain at the equivalent stage. The percentile data is collected from using the DataDrill service from BOM.
  9. It appears to be true https://www.wielerkrant.be/nieuws/2019-10-22/zuid-afrika-moet-vertrekken-bij-team-katusha-maar-heeft-al-een-nieuwe-ploeg-te-pakken
  10. Went round to DFO (Direct Factory Outlet) near the BNE airport yesterday. Didn't plan on spending money on something like this but it's hard to say no to the Aussie sales. Picked up Oakley Field Jacket's after being reduced from $294 to $118. Got home and did the obligatory fit with helmet. I'm pretty happy with my find
  11. And it certainly helps keep the interior cool in the peak of the Brisbane summer.
  12. On the topic of FNB and banks in general. I'm currently on a R29 pm contract to keep my mobile number active for FNB banking. I admit, I haven't researched this yet but perhaps someone here has. I want to cancel the mobile contract but keep online banking. Is that possible? As it is, I hate paying the monthly bank charges and actually looking at closing my FNB accounts. Much easier to simply pay on local card and accept the conversion fee than pay monthly costs for a few purchases each year. And yes, the Flybuys accrual rate and use of points is terrible. The only good is to convert to $10 discounts and use to save a few dollars on your weekly shop.
  13. Yeah you’re right. Over in Brisbane.
  14. I love my 10:00, $3 coffee, every day [emoji16] I don’t understand the water requirement though.
  15. I'm ready for another.
  16. Without waiting for David’s reply, my answer is that you will need a power meter in order to recalculate the estimated FTP. Don’t worry about it going down though. You can’t have it increase all the time. And you’ll have read above that the calculation method used has changed from a 60s effort to a 180s effort. That will also reshuffle things a bit. I would also largely ignore estimated power values from Strava. I have no science to support my statement but the estimated values seem to be generous when I do have a look at friends rides.
  17. This sounds like just the bike I have been looking for. Capable of both XC and marathons
  18. Yeah mate. The OP must have missed his Bunnings snag and was hangry. He was going off like a frog in a sock. Might have been feeling crook and needed to vent. Oi! We're not like the West Rand over here. You know us Queenslanders are good eggs.
  19. When using a tool like this, it is imperative to have an accurate FTP because everything is based on it or from it. Get that right and then you’ll be able to monitor your training. I’m probably saying things that everybody here knows but it would solve a few of the questions which have been put forward. And the estimated FTP function is a great addition to the tools here as a ramp test or FTP test of other forms is never a favourite activity.
  20. I am hoping that the price is competitive as I'd love for my upgrade next year to be a Pyga. But if it's priced the same as the new Pivot Mach4SL, SB100 or Blur CC, I'll likely still with the tried and tested. Schmolke road wheelset is on the shopping list for next year! I was going to get one of their bars or one from Mcfk but the local pricing from Wiggle on the Fizik Cyrano won the race.
  21. Thanks! The chrome really makes it a unique look and seems to be a hit with the mates and those at the coffee stops [emoji16]
  22. No worries. I’ve found the Evo a lot more racey. It has a longer reach and the flatter top tube has the frame feeling a lot bigger than it actually is. Immediate acceleration is slower on the Evo but that said, the R5 frame was small and you could really move it around. That may have produced a feeling of exaggerated acceleration. The Evo is stable! On sections of dead road (rough and robs you of speed) you’re really able to sit and go for gold. The save seat post again could be providing that extra compliance. I also noted that the Evo is a lot more sensitive to steering inputs. That sounds contradictory to being stable but it responds to inputs readily. Am I happy with the new bike? Immensely so. Well worth the money and it’ll be providing me with many years of riding pleasure.
  23. After a bike fit, I needed to change the handlebars that came on my road bike upgrade. Massive End of Financial Year (EOFY) sales on at the moment and I managed to snag a Fizik Cyrano R00 bar on Wiggle. Going from the Zipp SL-80 to the Fizik should shed about 100g due to firstly changing from alloy to carbon and secondly, going down from a 44 ctc in the drops to a 40ctc. I should also mention the road bike. Changed from my trusty Cervelo R5 to a Cannondale Evo Hi-Mod in etap setup. Love the reduced clutter at the bars due to no front and rear derailleur cables. Shifting is faultless as well but the left and right lever functions did take some getting used to.
  24. I'll be picking one up over lunch today. I have three Garmin straps at home that don't work. I'm looking forward to having the bluetooth connection option.
