  1. Hmmm... maybe the time has come for me to go Campy Record! Just love those cranks!
  2. So what are you saying? Shimano cables but the cable housing is your choice or Shimano cables and Shimano housing? Either way, I couldn't give a toss what cable is running in my housing but you are going to have a tough time convincing me that Nokon or I-Link cable housing is bad for my STI's, especially when they are in use at the pinnacle of this sport... So, what are you saying?
  3. Only because I am bored and have nothing better to do... By the way, where is Steven? Please Hubbers, indulge me for a minute. Could you please all reach for you January 2008 copy of Bicycling Magazine, turn with me to page 46. Here we have a photographic representation of a certain Mr Fabian Cancellara astride a Cervelo Soloist SLC-SL, rigged out with FSA carbon bars, a cruddy aluminum FSA stem, Zipp 808 rear and Zipp 404 front complete with Shimano Dura Ace groupset. Now, please stay with me Hubbers, this is tedious I know, but I will conclude shortly. If we look closely at Mr Cancellara's cables you will notice that he is using a shiny silver material for his braking cables, front and back. At a glance I would say they are Nokon cables. Now, if these cables are good enough to be used by Mr Cancellara, whether or not they damage his Shimano braking system, STI's or affect his drive train, then I will say they are good enough to be used by the masses. I really couldn't care if Pro Teams change their cable housing and STI's for every race, I will still use them since this is a phenomenal endorsement of the product and I couldn't give a flying Huckleberry who says what about them being detrimental to the health of my sh*tmano STI's... Warranty? Bah humbug... Pantani2007-12-31 05:52:56
  4. No Crux, I think you're being far too polite... Rest days are for MOFFIES!
  5. Rest day... What's a rest day?
  6. Hmmmm.... Don't let Steven see this post...
  7. Very impressive!
  8. Eish, that much!!!
  9. How many Suff Effrikan Ronts will these set me back?
  10. Goodness me... Well buddy, seems you're on your own...
  11. How bizarre... So if you plug in one ear only and say it's your race radio?
  12. PPA took away your iPod? Please explain?
  13. I must admit, as much as I like "Bling" and fancy wheels, I seriously doubt a wheel is going to improve your riding, especially on the climbs. I would rather spend the time and money on losing the weight... I mean how much of a saving on the climb will these wheels be? Somehow I think you still going to get dropped. Look at the entire system ie. You, and your bike. Let's assume altogether you weigh 90kg's and on a 1km climb you're able to generate an average power output of 300w thus giving you a power to weight ratio in the region of 3.33w/kg. Now, let's assume that your Magnesium wheels will save you 800g, it would mean that your new power to weight ratio is 3.36w/kg. Now that is an improvement of 0.03w/kg!!! Not worth it in my opinion especially if those wheels are going to cost you in the region of R7K or more. But that's just my ignorant 2c...
  14. I knew it.... Now I know where I know you from... You were knocked in a hit and run on NMR Avenue in the early hours of a weekend, 2005 if my memory serves me correctly... I was driving down NMR and came across your friend standing over you maybe 250m from the Argyle Road bridge before the swimming pool turn! Remember telling my then girlfriend now wife and my cousin, both doctors, the story! Wasn't the guy you were riding with also a doctor? My cousin seemed to know who you guys were. Your bike was wrecked that day, and you were in bad shape! I remember standing there while the paramedics were working with you... I didn't think you were going to make it dude! Glad to see that you're alive and well and back on your bike! Pantani2007-12-28 03:11:39
  15. Yeah, I also want to see Lance ride again, maybe this time it will be fair guns since everybody has been caught! Huh? Sorry, what did you say? Lance was what? Ooooohhh clean, for a second I thought you said Lance was keen! lol...
  16. Oh my goodness!!!! Steven, something is very wrong here, seems Nokon has been used in the Pro peleton as far back as 2004!!! And would you believe it that the are teams riding Shimano doing all sorts of trickery with their Nokon cable housing, judging from this article it seems they prefer it to the regular crap that comes with Shimano groupsets. http://www.velonews.com/tour2004/tech/articles/6575.0.html
  17. I'm lurking too...
  18. I'm astounded when I see posts like this. First off, "Racing Wheels", please note the capitalisation, should always be respected and revered as the wheels that will carry you like a chariot charging through fire, bloody awesome things that they are, speed weapons from the Gods, they deserve their place of importance in your humble abode, right over the God damn mantelpiece, between the wedding photo of you and your wife and that once in a lifetime shot of you and LA at OR Tambo, commanding the respect and admiration of all your visitors and peers! So no, left hanging in the garage is something you would do with that old cam belt you took off your nineteen voetsek beetle! Secondly, your racing wheels are potent objects, they symbolise your own potency on your machine and as such should serve as a constant reminder to all who behold them that they are mercurial objects, capable of unleashing immeasurable damage on any peleton, their authority and influence second to none! To leave them deflated is tantamount to castrating your prized stud stallion, it's just not done! Now ask yourself again, "What do I do with my Racing Wheels?"

Who the heck is Gary Beneke anyway? And why should he be an example to me, or any fun rider for that matter?
  20. Very true, the past few days I have been riding with my Powertap, just collecting data and am astounded by the new insight I have. Took it with me to KZN and went on some really hilly routes and it has shown me just what a weak cyclist I really am. So, before we even get to using it as a training tool I can already see my weaknesses just by analysing my easy rides. Very impressive device IMO.
