  1. Don't think of it like you're starting at the back. More like you have your own ebike race and you're in the first group which, in this case, happens to be the last group as well.
  2. Personally, I'd far rather do a gravel bike packing trip with some mates than this stage race thing. It's considerably cheaper and, for me, way more fun. Maybe I'm just not enough of a racing snake. The only real downside is that you have to plan it all yourself but if that's too much of a mission there are guys out there that organise everything and take groups out for these trips.
  3. I did it a couple of weeks ago as part of Sedgfield500 and it was in really good condition so I'd say it's prime for a grave bike! MTB will still be faster on the descents so you'll win in some areas and lose in others.
  4. Thanks, I know him so will reach out and let him know about this
  5. Velotoze do a great Toe Cover that will block the cold air on the front of the shoe. There's other options as well like Short Shoe Covers if you're looking for warmth and aero gains and Tall Shoe Covers if you're riding in the rain. Check them out on https://velotoze.co.za/
  6. This is from last year so be aware that they might have changed things up a bit this year. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/161577900 1075m climbing according to the route 1491m climbing recorded on the Garmin last year
  7. They're about as irritating as cold calling salespeople and "Is it still available" mense. Thankfully all of my adverts expired this morning so you can't troll me with an "Is it still available" message until I repost them
  8. I'm looking for an old/broken left hand Shimano mechanical shifter or main lever assembly. Anything from the 6800 era or newer and it can be 105, Ultegra or Dura Ace. I only need it for Part 3 pictured below which is the Left Main Lever Support. Happy to pay something towards this be it in beer, rands or kindness
  9. This is exactly the problem! And it's silly because there's an hours gap between the last 109km group and the first 42km group. I get that they want to try have the road cleared of the leaders of the 42km but it's compromising the main event. They should do the start groups as they did before where the last 109km group starts at 10 and then the 42km group continue from then. Ride with the masses and when you get to the end of the M3 you know what route you're doing so take the appropriate turn.
  10. πŸ˜‚ I expect nothing but this Which also makes me think... I wonder how they'll manage access to the CTCT Expo this year. Last few years its all been done by scanning the Racetec chips at entry
  11. I'm 12.21 at the moment. It's been worse in previous years but I've always ended up in this group since I turned 40. If you are in A group for PPA seeding which is 0 - 15 then you should be able to make the leap to the racing cats.
  12. Lekker, I'm starting there as well so will see you in the start chute
  13. Anyone can qualify there but they are age related so it'll be the best riders in the respective age groups. Think you need a CSA License for $ but I'll never be in that group so I'm safe from the clutches of CSA πŸ˜‚ $ Elite Men @ Racing Vets 40-49 plus the best 17-29 not in $ & Racing Vets 50+ plus the best 30-39 not in $ # Racing Tandems
  14. This year I raced at least once a month so next year I'll change it up a bit. Probably a bit more adventure/exploratory riding to get out there and actually take in the surroundings a bit more. There will still be racing but only the big stuff. WC Road Racing up until CTCT 36One Double Pot Ceder Maybeeee Sedgefield 500 depending on dates and how the previous races go. Should be a vibe!
  15. Based on the description I'd say this is LPC only the start location is very wrong
  16. You had me at free beer πŸ˜‹
  17. Zipp Service Course CX Bar Tape is my favourite. Use it on my gravel and road bikes as it's comfy and grippy. I get it from Evobikes when they have stock.
  18. I did that factory reset & restore calibration values a couple of years back which brought my powermeter back to life and it worked flawlessly for years after that. The most difficult thing about it was finding an old phone that would run the old version of their software. Think I had to dig out a Samsung S3 to get it working πŸ˜‚
  19. I cant quite remember all of them. I know it's: Swartberg100 Ronde van Riebeek The Ceder 140 I think it includes Prince George and Race to the Sea. Something like your best 4 results count towards the overall standings.
  20. It was very convenient for me as I approached that turn when the leaders who went astray had backtracked and we took the corner together. I could then hang on and race with them till the finish with the occasional stoppage to open farm gates. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ It's a mess though for CSA and particularly because this forms part of the WP Gravel League. There's now 3 groups of people. Those who did the correct course and rode 157km. Those that went wrong and corrected themselves. Rode anything between 157km and 165km. The top 12 or so riders that didn't correct their/the marshals error rode 160km. I'm not racing for that WP League so I don't really care but there will be people in the various groups that do care about this.
  21. At what point do we talk about the riders that took a shortcut after going the wrong way? 🍿🍿
  22. Does anybody know at what distances the waterpoints are for the 100miler?
  23. Anyone have a GPX file for the new route?
  24. That was quite the adventure! It made last years Around the Pot seem dry πŸ˜‚ Longest race to date and my first time riding though the night so maybe the excitement took my mind off the conditions a bit. I did it on a gravel bike so took a beating on the rough stuff which was way more abundant than I expected. All in all extremely happy with how the race went. Superb job by Dryland for putting together another great event.
  25. It's going to be my first time riding this and if I wasn't stressed enough the weather reports look pretty bleak. Let's hope things improve over the next few days otherwise there may be no good parts to remember from this year πŸ˜…
