  1. Does anyone know if they allow credit card payments without a surcharge yet? On my last invoice I got the standard: "Please indicate preferred payment method, EFT, PayJustNow or Credit Card via PayFast @ 3.5% extra." To which I said, no thank you, that is not in line with any credit card end user agreements so waive the fee. To which they responded" "We have subsequently moved away from PayFast and will no longer be making use of their facilities, we are busy aligning ourselves with another partner, for now we cannot process Credit Card transactions until that process has been set up." I never went through with the order and feel like they were giving me the run around, so wondering what their latest line of BS is? Those cheap prices don't pay for themselves.
  2. Hi have a Large one which I have replaced. You can have it and use it for parts.
  3. Looking to ride from Stb to Hermanus/Stanford. Seems like to most risky part is not getting mugged between Strand and Gordon's Bay? Anyone with some feedback of how Clarens drive is and if it will be daft to do the Strand GB section alone?
  4. What website did you use for this, looks very usefull?
  5. Yep, the point is to spend it on thing you would be buying anyway, and not expensive coffees (unless you are usually spending cash on it.)
  6. Hahah, Dischem has got quite a wide variety of things, I buy the monthly cereals, nuts, recovery drinks, nappies, baby needs, the wife buys creams and make up things R1.5k goes away quite quickly.
  7. Then don't spend you miles/rewards on things you don't need? Spend it on things you would be buying anyways. I get about R1.5k of toiletries, cleaning supplies ect.(things I would be buying regardless) Every month on the 15th from Dischem paid with my months miles. Never coffees and things (sometimes the odd bike bits from sportsmans, but thats more important than toilet paper) I then spend the extra R1.5k I have each month to supplement my medial aid, which I need regardless of rewards because you know, RSA public health care.
  8. I ran the mill a few months ago, here are my findings. This is all for MTB trail use in complete darkness. Money is no object (Top of the line at R7600) Exposure lights: https://www.exposurelights.co.za/ Looking to do a Transbaviaans or endurance races (And best option if you do not mind the additional battery pack (Nifty not for MTB)) Extreme lights: https://www.extremelights.co.za/collections/bicycle-lights Without battery pack but packs enough punch: (What I was looking for) Whittled it down to the LEZYNE Mega Drive 1800i or the Giant Recon HL 1800. Similar price and runtime. I went with the Lezyne as you have the option to add a battery if you want to double the runtime and very adjustable on the light setting which you can set with the app. Bought from Bike Addict without issues. - https://bike-addict.co.za/products/lezyne-mega-drive-1800i-infin-front-light Very happy with the light spread and intensity and it does not move on the bars at all. (Typical use, Jonkershoek red lines without additional head torch) Edit: Is the OP still even following this tread!?
  9. Bought some from Sportsmans Warehouse the last week. Listed as a Discovery Healthy Gear item if that makes any difference. ***edit - Spelling
  10. What happened to Schurter & Forster today?
  11. Nice route at Banhoek that should keep you busy for just under 2h. Good adventure feel and big fun to finish off. Single track climb all along the side of helshoogte pass to keep you off the road. https://www.strava.com/routes/2810539858058107112 Very easily linked up with Boschendal, so perhaps a good start and end point for extra distance. Trust me, you probably want to work in 2 laps of each trail at Banhoek anyways, so you can work in another hour or so.
  12. Just for full transparency this is the feedback I received: "I can send you a card facility payment link from PayFast, but please note that facility charges and additional 3.5% and takes longer for the fees to clear." I have popped into the store while through Malmesbury once and had a very similar welcome into the store.
  13. Yeah was a bit peeved at that (do all for the miles) Just went the EFT route, but yeah agree with you
  14. After about 5 out of stock issues in the past as is raised above and even one bike that was in stock and sold under my nose, I ordered a new light last week at the best price I could find. Item in-stock, payment had to be EFT or add 3% to use credit card, response was good, an hour or so between communications, delivered 3 days after original quote. So, all hope is not lost, I will give them another chance. I do prefer going to LBS where stock permits though.
  15. I think a lot of shifting issues arise from the play that develops over time in the B Bolt and the pulley wheels, which run on bushings for NX and bearings from GX upwards. Came across these videos recently and wondered if anyone has 'upgraded' the B-Bolt to one running on a bushing. Wondering if without the play in the B-Bolt and some bearing pulley wheels (And CSixx cage if you are feeling splashy) how the NX will perform. Has anybody done something like this?
  16. Go to the Bank app -> Scroll to your "Discovery Miles" account and tap on that-> Tap on Spend -> "Pay in store" There you can generate any 'voucher'.
  17. Hi B20 Do you know if Bainskloof pass open for cyclists at the moment?
  18. Resurrecting an old thread here. Looking for some knee pads, must be light I intend on wearing them for each and every ride. (My last wipe out was during the most laid back of rides). Tried on the Fox Enduro Pro and they are super comfortable, but weary of the fabric ripping after one fall? https://www.outdoorescape.co.za/product-page/fox-enduro-pro-knee-guard Also tried the Leat Airflex pro, but the gap behind the knee seems to sit a little loose and seems like that would become annoying during a long ride, https://www.outdoorescape.co.za/product-page/leatt-airflex-pro Any other recommendations from the Hub?
  19. Quite the team at Santa Cruz Syndicate with Greg this year https://www.pinkbike.com/news/santa-cruz-syndicate-confirms-laurie-greenland-jackson-goldstone-and-nina-hoffman-for-2022.html Greg donning Fox kit instead of Oneal as well.
  20. An issue I have not found a suitable solution to is keeping dust out of seals, mechs and bearings when trasporting bikes behind a car (hitch, trailer or truck bed) when traveling long distances on dirt roads. Was thinking full bike bag but loose material will wear quickly while flapping in the wind. While driving the other day I was thinking a sealed plastic covers that could clip over certian parts of the bike (piviots, BB ect) could work a treat, will be totally frame spesific so might not be worth while production wise. But if i had some time and a 3d printer I would like to take a stab at that.
  21. @Goosebay , Resurrecting an old thread here. Heading to Stanford over die Christmas break. Wondering if there are any new trails to check out in the area other than what is listed above? I have done Lomond, absolute treat and well built, will be heading there again forsure.
  22. The permit does not replace any individual permits so you can still just do Bottelary alone if you want for the prices in the OP. Living in STB, Bottelary is the missing link for that regional board and would make me buy it instead of Jonkies annual plus day passes to Banhoek etc.
  23. This is amazing! Thanks for the share
  24. Would be great if we could tie Bottelary Hills in with the Winelands Permit? Would that we on the cards at any stage?
  25. I just bought mine now so just have another look. Certainly not a mistake, there was an email advertising it for the month of Nov & Dec. -update- I see Henry beat me to the response
