  2. great, thanks guys!
  3. hi, a friend and i are doing a 5 day tour from Majtiesfontein to Cape Town in December. we've done the route before but headed toward Napier and then Hermanus last time. we're thinking of going from Greyton to Franshchoek, Stellies, Muizenburg and then CT. Does anyone have some ideas for routes between Greyton, Franschoek, Stellies and Somerset West? we're looking for offroad with little traffic, some single track if possible as we'll have backpacks but no tents or anthing like that. I've checked Google maps for the main sort of routes but i'm sure there are areas we can cycle through that Google isn't showing. any advice or comments most welcome!! shot
  4. there's also a coffee shop near the polo club that you can park at and go for a ride. i'm sorry but the name of it escapes me! they will be able to let you know more info. also, put a post up in Aug when you go and maybe some of us can join. enjoy cos its some AWESOME riding!
  5. bad races with bad planning causes congestion. single track is what makes all the hard work of climbing hills and long dirt roads worth it. i love both, but to throw either out completely is a little anti-mtbiking. to be honest i haven't experienced too much congestion with the single track on the races i've done. i know the 10 or 19k riders can get in the way but then just ask them to move over. politely. but you are entitled to one rant a week, i'd give it a 8.1/10!
  6. good thing i am not jealous! hope you enjoy it! adogshow2010-05-18 03:00:41

  13. i see, i have hardtail with LX shifters, XT front derailer. still figuring out what RD to get, XT long or short cage. the crankset is a deore m443, cassette is a mid range shimano hyperglyde. i'll try and workout the cog difference, but off hand any ideas of which i need to go for?

  15. so when must i use a long cage or a short cage? (ie what setup on my bike goes with which?)
  16. so a new chain is needed? seems pretty extreme. maybe ask your supplier/LBS about it. they might have had other peeps with the same problem?
