  1. I agree. The cypher is ridiculous value for money. there are also some phenomenal second hand deals on the hub under 50k with ax’s, carbon wheels and high end suspension.
  2. Hey everyone What are the Gravel Bike options in SA that would accommodate 2.1 tyres or more? The obvious is the Giant Revolt Do bikes like the Titan Switch or Cube NuRoad take more than billed 50mm? Thanks
  3. Hey guys - very keen to see what set ups people are riding for the Gravel Burn: below is some of the ones I have found. Would be keen for people to share others ... or your own set up if you are doing it. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DP3I2M_jIvu/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link https://www.instagram.com/reel/DP_GBZMjCjR/ https://www.cyclingweekly.com/gravel/im-racing-the-800km-gravel-burn-in-south-africa-and-this-is-the-bike-ive-chosen-to-help-get-me-to-the-finish-line https://bikehub.co.za/news/gravel-burn-bike-check-kevin-benkensteins-santa-cruz-stigmata/
  4. Thanks so much!
  5. Anyone made any more headway on this? Would be cool to watch both the marathon tomorrow and XCO next week. It seems to suggest SuperSport will cover - do we know if they actually will? It looks like Whoop is only the XCO series and NOT the World Champs - seems like madness but there we go!
  6. Hey everyone Anyone know the status of the river crossings - lots of water - not much water? etc...
  7. Hey everyone Doing my first TB - very excited, especially given the predicted weather!!! A couple of questions: - Camelbak or not? We should be around 12 hours - What do you need wrt 1st Aid - it states you must carry one but dont think it specifies what is must include - Do you need a 1st Aid Kit and space blanket per team or per individual? Any other hints or tips welcome
  8. I also have 3 boys ALSO 7, 5 and 4 years I have gone with 2nd hand frog bikes from the Hub and never regretted. 7 year old - 20 Inch 5 year old - 16 inch (not yet ready for the 20 inch) 4 year old - balance bike - about to start on 16 inch In answer to your question: - 16 inch FROG for the 5 year old - you will sell it easily again - you could go 20 but think it might be too soon Good luck...
  9. Hey. I have used 9mm sleeve in the past and they work ok but would suggest getting adaptors. Giant hubs are normally DT swiss so you just need new end caps https://evobikes.co.za/product/dt-swiss-fw-adapter-kit-12-100mm-350-spline-r-spline/ Good luck - can be a puzzle solving the end cap situation but LBS should be able to assist
  10. Hey guys Hope you don't mind, but thought I would start a new thread for Black Friday 2023 - great if people could share deals, links etc that pop up and are worth looking at. Cycle Lab and Evo already got some awesome deals I see: https://evobikes.co.za/product-category/black-november/ https://www.cyclelab.com/shop/details/black-friday?sort=all_products Happy sharing
  11. I really think the Titan is the best value at the moment. Apparently there support service is out of this world (cos they are based here). The bike is modern geometry etc... - if I was buying today it would be a Titan cypher for sure: If you could stretch - this is the deal of the year https://solomonscycles.co.za/products/titanracing-cypher-rs-carbon-ltd-edition-1x12-29-flip-chip-carbon-frame-mountain-bike-dual-suspension-2023/ DT Swiss wheels and suspension!!
  12. Hey I use the Rapide tensioner with their conversion kit and have been blissfully happy
  13. Just received same exceptional service on replacement! Quick and free! Boa will be on all shoes before you know it.
  14. Thanks - happy to make the move to a new hub - assume I am in for hub AND spokes?
  15. Hi DT Swiss Looking for guidance - I have a set of Crest MK3s on DT Swiss 240s (CL) - I am now riding a boost bike and want to convert (rear end only) 1. Can I convert the current 240 rear hub to boost? 2. Should I rather switch out hubs? I have found a 350 boost hub BUT - if I do this am I also in for new spokes? Thanks
  16. Hi team Onza Svelt vs Maxxis Aspen adding to this thread - there is a lot of talk about Aspens which is useful! Any comparison to a Onza Svelt? Both on Special on evo at the moment and trying to make a call... Thanks
  17. Cant be many wheels around that come in under 1600g and cost less that R5,5k - will be interesting to see what the feedback is from people who ride them. Certainly seems like incredible bang for buck! And LYNE also make those funky bottle caps heads sets
