  1. You mean: "Thanks for contacting Ross. He has flagged your feedback and asked me to personally deal with it. Regards Chanelle Virgin Active" Automated response I'm afraid.
  2. I would also suggest leaving a comment on their facebook page... http://www.facebook.com/VirginActiveSA Let's give it a go at least.
  3. These new bikes suck! I would much rather spin on the old dilapidated bikes. At least it felt relatively similar to riding a bike. Hopefully everyone on this thread complained directly to VA in writing. Although, I can't see them change it. Must have been a massive capital expenditure to replace all spinning bikes nationally. Our only option really is to move to planet fitness.
  4. Good week indeed! Doctor's appointment on Wednesday for my wife's 32 week sonar! Think I should hit Groenies sometime in the week to celebrate!
  5. If you're looking at doing stage races your focus should be on comfort rather than speed as you will be spending a lot of time in the saddle. HT 29ers are fast, but nothing compares to a 29er FS when it comes to being comfortable in the saddle after 5 or 6 hours.

    The Rules !

Geez, obeying those is a full time job... When do you get time to just ride your bike?
  7. If you don't puke you're not racing hard enough! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exercise_induced_nausea
  8. Well worth doing! It's about an hour's drive from PTA but was one of the best races I did last year. I'll be there again on Saturday.
  9. Wow! Now that looks awesome! Blu-ray, I'm assuming?
  10. I think I would struggle going back. Riding a 29er dual sus made me lazy when it comes to picking lines. I have unknowingly adopted the riding style of "when in doubt, go straight". I doubt this would've worked so well on my old 26 HT.
  11. You have to get used to it. In time unclipping will come as natural as just putting your foot down. But it takes time, and unfortunately some tumbles. You'll have more control in the technical stuff when you are clipped in. You just need the confidence to know that you can unclip immediately when you need to.
  12. Some nice 2010 models going for a steal on www.obike.co.za
  13. Was bound to happen... Very disappointing. I cannot believe that one organisation cannot get anything right...
  14. That's really sad! RIP I have one of these: http://www.roadid.com/Common/LearnMore.aspx?PID=37 I wear it all the time, not only when cycling.
  15. Guy on Road bike hit by an Eland... This happens more than we think...
  16. Big up Burry! He should put some time between himself and Platt in stage 2.
  17. I wasn't going to look because I knew what was coming but then I couldn't stop myself... Now, I don't feel so good... Hope all of you heal up soon!
  18. I'm still looking for some directions for the off road route to Rayton. Apparently you can through the farms from the Boschkop side...
  19. I see Johan Bruyneel also shared the video on FB. I now have a strong suspicion that the Red Hartebeest has ties with Dr Ferrari... Almost on 4.5 million views!
  20. Skidmarks on a shammy are marks of experience. If you want to know how experienced a rider is, ask him to show you his shammy. Under no circumstances remove these as you will be removing the only real proof that you are indeed a cycling legend!
  21. Silverback Moda. XT bike, Reba front, Fox RP2 rear. Under R20k. Nothing comes close ito of value. This was the 2011 model, not sure what the 2012 equivalent is. Also look at the GT Sensor 29er. Comes in just over R20k with an X9 upgrade.
  22. Just saw it! Absolutely crazy! That could've been some serious damage!! I've heard that a similar thing happened at the Cullinan race last year...
  23. I asked the question earlier about rest weeks... Some useful info here: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/108559-rest-weeks-in-training-program
  24. Yup, I'm in the same boat... I can't remember a time when I was satisfied with my LBS' servicing of my bike. The last time I took it in to replace brake pads and told them to do a service while the bike was there, even though everything, accept for the brake pads, was still perfect. Since getting it back I've been struggling with everything from gears to brakes... and this after I've told myself that I'm not going back. If you're dumb, you have to suffer, I guess... Quite a lot of resources on youtube as well. I just have to stop being lazy... that's about it.
