  1. I was quite impressed with the way he handled it. Sure, it was still far out but he simply got up, took of his helmet and glasses, wiped some sweat and waited for the team car. No panic, no nothing. They gave him the wrong bike, he looked at and just clmly tossed it to the side of the road, got another one and continued. Even though I expect nothing less of him, another rider could've easily gone into a flat spin after his recent spell of bad luck. I don't like the guy but he's a class rider. 1:30 is a lot to get back, but I'm not writing him off just yet. Here's a photo from after the stage. Bit of a bad angle but you can just see the damage to his back:
  2. That's a good looking bike! Very similar lines to the Stumpy...
  3. Love these early predictions! I'm glad that crash happened; I was preparing myself for a relatively boring Tour with AC being a couple of seconds up when they reach the Alps and just sitting on Andy's wheel and closing it out in the TT. Now we'll be seeing Contador doing the attacking in the mountains. Seeing the big guns defending is boring, now we'll be seeing the biggest gun of them all doing the attacking. Anyway, Cadel looks very confident. He wanted yellow from day 1. Does he really think that he can defend the yellow jersey for three weeks? Quite a different strategy... a bit too bold for my liking. We still haven't seen any proof that Andy has hit some form. I was expecting him to, at least, sit on Contador's wheel yesterday and not concede any time. I'm assuming he was just conserving and didn't want do dig deep so early. We'll have to wait until stage 12 to find out. Though, like I said before, I'm sure he's ready.
  4. Much more than a certain aspiring cape epic rider... although that doesn't say much, now does it.
  5. Question; if you ride a 20" mtb, can you make a 19" fit by fitting a longer top tube and, if necessary, seat post? Surely you can set up the smaller bike to resemble the geometry you are used to with the 20" bike?
  6. Why "Every Second Counts"? Haven't read it yet, but as I have it that is one of the less controversial books?
  7. Love my Jawbones, they're awesome!! Won't ride with anything else... ever!
  8. And it seems as if CAS doesn't rule in favor of the athlete too often... I'll care about this again after the Tour. Some awesome racing coming up!
  9. We had our first sonar this week. We were told that my wife can train as long as she keeps her heart rate below 140. The problem, however, is not when you are on your bike, but when you get off... unexpectedly... face (or tummy) first. Oh, and congrats!!
  10. The Cervelo looks funky but that Pina...
  11. My team has been submitted!!! Frosty, you said you're sponsoring an ipad as a prize? or was it a playbook? Don't worry, I'm not picky! Had some tough choices, but I think I've made the right ones. Apologies to all the riders that have been left out of this prestigious team.
  12. That's hot!! I want!
  13. Then again, neither of the Robbies have outsprinted the likes of Cav or Petacchi this season (that I can remember). This may also have been a long shot?
  14. That's impossible! Jens Voight doesn't eat breakfast, he forces it into submission! But really, that's awesome! You're a lucky man!
  15. On the back of his Tour de Suisse form I'm sure Levi will be the leader. I like the fact that they're backing themselves for GC contention... probably hoping just for a podium though, but still. They're old but they're strong. Can't seem them sticking with Contador or Andy but a third may be possible. All the other 3rd place contenders are just as average as they are...
  16. It all depends on the type of riding. The more technical and rocky it becomes the more suspension will come into play and will it make you faster. Over-simplifying here but imagine a road bike vs a full susser on tar (equal weight) and again on a rocky trail. Suspension only makes you faster when it is being used.
  17. Sounds cool. Pity that it's Sundays only. We have a route that goes through that area, would be nice to add a bit of singletrack to the route. Will definitely check it out at some stage.
  18. Many happy miles!!
  19. Note that this is the 2012 model. Really hot bike!!

Awesome looking bike! Many happy miles!
  21. How many kms can you do at Klapperkop? I'm assuming that the only way to link from Groenies to Klapperkop is via the R21, which is not the safest....
  22. I have First Ascent, Specialized and Giordana bibs and I prefer Giordana by a country mile. The other two brands doesn't come close.
  23. Silverback has lost the plot. Their new bikes are awesome and in a league of their own when it comes to value but it seems as if they have completely deserted their South African market. The fact that they aren't bringing in anymore Segmas and Modas are ridiculous, I know, but what's worse is that the Silverback 2011 range has 9 different 29er models (4 hardtail and 5 dual sus) and we're only getting 2 of these models in SA. For a South African company this is not on.
