  1. Any news if SBR was open today ?
  2. We have 2 man entry for the Repeat event. My best friend's wedding is on the same weekend as the Repeat event. I know it is a long shot but I am willing to swap my entry for the Race event or alternatively buy someones Race entries and then selling my Repeat event entries. My cycling partner is going for this 5th TB so he really wants to get it done and dusted.
  3. For the past 3 years we hired a car and closer to the event the company that provides you a driver will send you the driver details. This was from Tempest car hire and Hertz. The only downside to this is that our driver got a fine last year and I had to pay for it. Otherwise it is not too bad.
  4. Good luck for to the guys and girls riding this weekend, hope the weather is good. See the rest of people for the repeat, can't wait.
  5. Congrats, hope you plan to give us a review after some rides. I am also thinking of getting a gravel bike and to keep the MTB for trails.
  6. I completed 2 TB's on my sola 4 and last year I did it on a dual-sus. It makes you really appreciate the dual-sus.
  7. Same here I am about 156km from my home to the park. Must do a double loop to make it worth the drive.
  8. Yesterday my friend and I went for a ride at SBR. I believe a lady had a crash, luckily there was ambulance and people to assist. I hope she is okay ?
  9. Looks interesting. What is the entry fee? Had a look at the website but seems you have to register for more information.
  10. Due to some unforeseen circumstances I want to sell my comrades entry. Not sure if it is possible but I will like to give someone else a chance ? If possible and interested, please send me a pm. I also have some other entries like Dischem21, Johnson Crane 42km and Tough one as well if interested.
  11. Also entered this week. Will be my first one. I don't think I totally realise what I have let my self into but are up for this challenge. Is there any suggestion for a proper training program ? I see there is one on the comrades site for beginners. The goal is only to finish and since I last ran 3 months ago I will require something for a beginner to build a base.
  12. I guess it is easier to book the accommodation as soon as you buy the entry to prevent the struggling later on ?
  13. Curious how many hours one need to spend on training for the Munga just to finish the race ? How long before the race one needs to start ?
  14. I wonder how many inexperienced cyclists underestimate the SBR route and try to bail by going the wrong way? If that is the case rather get a backup car for safety.
  15. Was a bit late so only arrived after 8 at the vaal race. Just as I stopped WarriorRic was passing for his 2nd lap, singing along. What a cheerful guy. Unfortunately missed my first vaal due an injury, but spent some time under the gazebo with beer cheering my team mates. Was a very nice day unless you were running 42 in the heat....
  16. Wish they can do something similar at Kyalami
  17. First time at SBR for 2017, only did one lap and surely it was the hardest one ever. Legs were screaming and mentally it was really tough. Funny how a just a small gesture from a fellow cyclist who gave me a bit of a push on the final climb gave me the willpower to keep pedal and finish my lap. Glad to see there is still some good people on the road.
  18. Hi Guys Any recommendations to whom can assist with an injury ? This morning I am experiencing a bit of pain in my lower leg when walking, on previous occasions the some spot was sensitive but I guess the resting helped. If I read the symptoms on the internet a possible cause can be stress fractures but will rather prefer the opinion of a professional. Should I go to someone like Mike at SBR Sport where I did the pro nation check or should I go to a GP ?
  19. Thanks, guess I will stick to that half.
  20. Will be there for sure. Not sure if I was ambitious or plain stupid but already entered for the full a while back. Some of the members in my running club advised to avoid injuries to rather stick with the half, although I feel I managed to do the half comfortably and the recovery seems to be going good. 21,1 is my now my longest distant to date. I seems in my nature to push the boundaries. Should I rather stick with the half ?
  21. Anyone did the Sasol Marathon today ? Was my first half marathon, missed that sub2 with 2min :-(
  22. Can one only get a Championchip from the outlets on their website or is there any other store ? I tried Cycle Lab - Fourways a couple of times but they have no stock. I am in Roodepoort / Vanderbijl area.
  23. Hi Guys I am currently comfortable with running 5 and 10 km, actually planning on doing my first 21 in Feb and then marathon in March/April. We entered the TransBaviaans again this year so I need to do plan out my training. At least I know what to expect this time around. The main question is can I substitute some of my training on the bike with running. Time is a bit of a problem because I live in an area where there is no proper hills. The idea is to run during the week, one long run on a Saturday with a ride on a Sunday. Perhaps mixing up the ride with hills and a long ride ? If time allows it to throw in a quick ride somewhere in the week.
