  1. The negative spring could be changed out for a more appropriate strength but its certainly would not allow the negative to follow the positive spring as linearly.
  2. So basically, the 2016 Fox Float 34 is much improved, so much that its kills the negatives of the 2015 model and rejuvenates Fox as a viable trail fork?
  3. again that's a different bike with a more focussed design and market intent
  4. huh
  5. Maybe on SABS channels yes. Velvety is more common. This butteryness doesn't have meaning. Doesn't seem to be in any official dictionary anyway. So how much more buttery is the Fox 34 over the RS Pike? Or are they both buttery? What degree of buttery determines which is better? Velvety would seem to be more tangible and consistent because what type of butter is being used for the simile?
  6. Ps "buttery smooth " is not a concept I am familiar with. Smooth is though but buttery smooth is such a mtb cliché. I've read about 5 reviews on this fork with similar clichés so it just makes one suspicious
  7. I don't know. I read these reviews and they all beautifully written .Iwan reviews well but I don't know him/her . All these reviews read similarly with a smattering of personal taste thrown in. So sorry to offend it's just like the doping saga you know, difficult to believe the bikes are actually ridden when they look like they rolled of a showroom floor.
  8. Ok I see. Last question. Was the fork actually ridden? It's very clean for a tested mtb fork
  9. Can you please tell us at what temperature this was ascertained? Butter is not very smooth at high and low temperatures...... Nice review and seems to bear out what I have found with the 2016 Float 32
  10. Yes Nico, Product Engineering is a moving target
  11. I didn't say the manufacturers regard 2x10 as a better way forward. I said "2x10 is still viewed by some oems to be the drivetrain of choice for people who want a versatile bike". That means this is information they have based on feedback from the market. Not every OEM feels the need to push the market toward 1x11. Some will move as the market moves, others have moved to 1X systems because it provides a technical solution to packaging the rear wheel more tightly. Perhaps gearing range is not an optimal choice of words. Gearings steps is maybe better but 2x10 system do tend to have a wider range. A 1x system can have equal range but its at the expense of the number of steps in the middle. Not everybody likes the wide steps in SRAM's 1x11, hence Shimano are cool with rhythm step. I find Scott to be an OEM that specs their bikes intelligently for the intended purpose. Camber may be a do it all but its 110mm 29 isn't It? the 29er version of the Genius is 130mm so not exactly apples with apples comparison
  12. Other than advertise for specialized what is the point you're trying to make? Scott obviously is marketing the genius differently to specialized which is stating the obvious because they're different companies with different ideas on providing solutions for their respective customers. If the scott doesn't tick the boxes on your buying sheet then move onto something that does. The genius is pitched to people looking for one bike they can ride xc, marathon or enduro on. So it has to be as light as possible, provide gearing range and be easy to set up for different uses. I think it ticks all those boxes nicely
  13. Unfortunately that's what happens when the marketers try and make a jack of all trades
  14. 2x10 is still viewed by some oems to be the drivetrain of choice for people who want a versatile bike. The wider gearing still gives most riders more get up and go options Also as the review notes, this bike is pegged into a category where Joe soap just wants a bike that can do a lot of everything and not be pegged into one category of riding. The original 2005. Genius nailed this category and it appears this bike is a worthy decendant. There are plenty of enduro specific bikes out there. This genius is not such a bike
  15. Maybe thats the way he likes it.....over the back of the couch
  16. these style of helmets will always feel cooler at speed. Problems is if you're riding at 8km/h up a loose gravelly climb its not going to be much help. dedicated for raod use and the cooling will certinly be better than conventional designs due to the inlet to exit area ratios and more aero thanks to allowing less disturbed air flow
  17. You should be able to get it set up with the limit screws and b tension adjuster .Not sure if it has sufficient range I.e.Can ot handle the 42 when running on the 32 t chain ring ? Chain length can assist . Best is to try it out and report back .Until then everything is just speculation
  18. buT m9000 is R28K retail. Probably a bit cheaper from direct importers. GBP1900 from CRC. These new Shimano groups are pretty pricey
  19. ??? Only like another M8000 groupset before yo get to M9000....
  20. AS stated, Mid August in Shops
